strongly recommend if you're having surgery
I needed this for a recent surgery. This is the only bra I found with compression which is very soft, seamless, and with enough compression for my needs. I have to wear this 24/7 for 6-8 weeks. You better believe, if I have to wear something for that length of time, it will have to meet ALL of that criteria. I bought the other brands of bras listed next to these, and they were NOT comfortable and none had even or enough compression. There was no way I could wear those round the clock. Yes, it's expensive, but if you REALLY need this, you will find it to be totally worth the cost. I ended up buying three to rotate for washing. Because I have to wear them 24/7 having just two was causing me to make sure one was in the wash every day while I wore the other one. Normally, I don't wash my bras that often, but this IS a vest so oils from your back and any odor from the underarm will become part of the bra that day because the sides do come up quite high under the arm. This may seem like something you don't want, but this is actually one of the main reasons why this bra/vest was better for me than the other compression brands advertised especially once you are able to sleep on your side after the approved time has passed from the surgery date. I think it would be terrible to FINALLY given approval to sleep on your side (esp. if you are a side sleeper normally) from your surgeon, only to not really be able to because the sorry bra you bought to save money wont' let you because it is too painful or uncomfortable. When you buy a bra that doesn't keep your incision areas firmly bound in place, you will know of that which I speak. Trust me.Now about sizing, it can be difficult at first especially if after your surgery you will lose or gain volume. Nevertheless, the compression should be comfortable enough that you are able to breathe easily. The chart the company gives IS accurate though. You have to remember it is for compression and after a surgery you could have some swelling, so it may feel a little more "pressed" than what you are used to with a standard sports bra. Still, the sizing chart did turn out to be correct for me. To be on the safe side I ordered two sizes and then sent the one back that didn't quite fit like I needed it to after the surgery took place and I could tell for sure what I needed. Another plus about this bra is no matter where your incisions are located, this bra is seamless and is not going to hurt you. I do tuck some small cotton-like gauze pads in some areas just to prevent any agitation whatsoever due to lots of body movement--- plus because my steri-strips fell off sooner than I was expecting the incision area is a little raw. The bra holds the gauze in place easily and comfortably. I truly am not joking. I read all the other reviews and ordered so many of the other bras and could seriously NOT see what everybody thought was so great. I was rushing to get them off and send them back. (Maybe it depends on the kind of surgery you're having as to whether you can get by with the cheaper bra options?) Yeah, I was hoping to save some money, too, so bought a few of those other bras by other makers, but bottom line, I had to have comfort and compression above all else. Honestly, thinking back to the numerous bras I tried, whether they be touted specifically for post op or just high impact sports bras, I don't know what I would have done if I hadn't found this---wear an ace bandage over a silk scarf wrapped around my chest/ rib cage? Yes, I've tried that. You get groove lines from the seams of the scarf AND you have to wear the ace bandage very tight for it to truly compress which makes it very, very difficult to breathe. If you loosen the compression to breathe, you're not getting the compression you truly need. See? I really have tried it all. If the price is such that you could only purchase one, I would suggest wearing your cheaper alternative only while this one is being washed. You can hand wash or put this in a machine. You can drip dry or put in dryer--just don't pick a heating setting that is too high (if your machine offers that). If your machine does not allow heat settings, I would dry half the time set, and the let it air dry the rest of the way. It does take a while to totally dry though because this is not a thin bralette you have here. Oh, and you'll definitely appreciate being able to sleep in this vest because again, it's soft, seamless and so comfortable.(FYI--this review is for the size XL. I bought 1 black and 2 white. I ended up sending the Large back.)

Highly recommend for breast reduction recovery!
I had breast reduction surgery 6 weeks ago. Went from a 38G to a 38B and I got the XL. Perfection! I had numerous post surgery bras to try as I didn't know what to expect. I have one other brand that is ok, but this one is my favorite! It's a little bulky and the straps are think (but adjustable) but the support and comfort it offers are so worth it. It's the perfect mix of support and stretch, washes well and is perfectly comfortable to sleep in. In fact, it feels better to be in it. Bottom ribbing is so soft and doesn't rub or press at all on my incisions. Hooks and zipper easy to use after the 1st few tries and hold up well. A little spendy compared to other brands, but you get what you pay for. So worth the money! Would buy over and over again! Get it!

Horrible
Let me start by saying I love the bra. I purchased the same one from another seller two years ago and wrote a great review of the bra itself. Fast forward to this year when I found myself in need of another surgical bra and decided to order it again. The first one I received (seller JumpBoost) was the wrong size, and inner markings were faded as if it had been worn/washed but otherwise appeared to be okay. Amazon offered to replace it within two days so I accepted. The second one (replacement) that I received came in smashed up packaging. I discovered that the bra was wadded up and stuffed back in the packaging. Clearly it had been worn and not laundered as there were stains on it from God knows what! They did not bother to inspect it or even fold it back up before sending it to me. I was so grossed out that I stuffed it back in the package, washed my hands, and returned it.This whole experience was wrong on so many levels. People who use surgical bras usually have open wounds, so itâs unsanitary and irresponsible of the seller to conduct their business this way.The good news of all of this is that I found my Carefix Sophia bra from two years ago in a clothing giveaway box, and I have been able to use it again. It was in better shape and cleaner than both ânewâ bras I received from seller JumpBoost. I also ordered a white one from Scharff Industries on Amazon, and it arrived in perfect condition. The bra is similar to one I received from the hospital, is comfortable yet provides really good compression. I suggest ordering 2 sizes up because you will experience swelling and may have bandages post surgery, and youâll want good compression for healing. I normally wear a L (36D) in Warners, and I wear an XXL in the Carefix Sophia. Be careful with putting it in the dryer, be sure to use very low heat and hang dry to finish.

Thought went into the design
Wow, this compression bra is working well for me. I had a surgery almost two weeks ago. I bought and wore a "fancy" compression bra from a local boutique until such time that the bra that I ordered from Amazon arrived. Unlike the "fancy" bra, the bra from Amazon does not have any stitching along the underarm area, yipeeee! For that reason, this bra compresses without cutting off circulation. I've already told my surgeon that I recommend this bra. THANK YOU FOR PUTTING THOUGHT INTO THE BRA DESIGN.

Nice Bra - but Velcro a problem
The Velcro straps that sit on top of the shoulder and finish at the front, donât sit flat. They stick out too much and can be seen from my top when dressed. Otherwise its a nice bra.
