Tip probably works well on soft dirt, but if you have clay forget it. It won't even make a little hole

This item is best in moist and/or loamy soils. I found that sharpening the leading edge on the spiral portion with a file greatly improved its performance in harder soils. The downside is that the edge is of soft steel and will probably require resharpening. Using a larger drill or a corded drill is a good idea.

This is a fantastic gadget! I must say though, it is VERY powerful. Absolutely must wear safety goggles (scratched cornea cause I did not) & maintain a firm hold. It is definitely messy to use lol.Works for planting, mulching & loosening the soil. Very happy with it & have used it often in my garden.And the bonus garden gloves with the 'claws' - I never knew what I was missing with just regular gardening gloves! They are great for gardening!!I would definitely recommend both of these items for gardeners!

This worked great loosening up compacted soil with rocks and roots in it. I had been working here and there digging out an area for river rocks and it wasn't going so well. I am glad I took a chance on this, it worked well with my 18v Ridgid drill. I was able to make lots of holes and then dig out the loosened soil in a day. I do have the handle attachment on my drill for extra support, without it I think this would be to difficult holding the drill as it can really try to twist your arm when you hit resistance in the soil you are digging.

I use it for my canopy at the beach, it works perfect everyone else was hammering steaks I whipped out my drill and had it set up in mins while they were still hammering away

Good design makes quick work of digging holes. Used to make holes to add fertilizer and water around young fruit trees. Attached to battery hand drill and worked great. Have not used gloves but are well made and will use in future.

I bought this auger and a drill bit extension. I connected the two and was able to clean out the sump in my yard drains very simply and easily. The auger came with a set of rubber coated gloves. The right hand had plastic claws for digging. The gloves stung of plastic. i washed them and placed them in the sun. The smell disappeared.

I had to replace 2 6’ cedar posts that cane down during windows storm. Using just a shovel , the auger, and gloves in 20 minutes time for each post hole 2+ feet deep it was a breeze. My only complaint the claw on the glove came off the index finger in the second hole.The fence guys arround here charge $150 per post - so I’m thinking I made out just fine. Glad I found this item.
