It just works. Used to factory reset my TP-Link switch
Years ago, serial cables were a dime a dozen and every PC and some laptops had a serial port. USB basically made the serial port obsolete for most devices except networking devices like switches and routers. Most switches in the past few years come with a micro USB or USB-C management port in addition to an RJ45 jack for a serial cable. I've found the USB connections to be hit or miss. But a serial cable always works.I have a TP-Link SG3428 switch that I needed to reset the password for so it could be adopted by an Omada controller. Most layer 2/3 switches don't have a reset button you can press, so you need to console in and do it from the bios. Used this adapter along with the RJ45 to serial port cable the switch came with and it worked perfectly. You will need to load the drivers for the cable as it has a chip in it. But the adapter comes with a driver CD. Ironically, that presents another problem as no PCs or laptops come with a CD drive anymore. But my personal PC at home has multiple disc drives so wasn't an issue for me.This cable just works, no issues. Highly recommended.

Sabrent's Got It Goin' On👍!!!
Frustration and hassle free device. It worked straight-out-of-box. It came in a manufactured box, and it arrived extremely quick. This was a very good and affordable buy by a name I felt I could trust. Adequate length in the cord. I bought this to hook up my Brother embroidery card reader/writer to my Toshiba Satellite laptop that doesn't have a serial port, and this made it possible for me to now be able to use the device with my laptop with no hiccups.

Works great with some older audio gear!
Needed to configure some old audio equipment and this adapter worked great! 4 stars because the drivers are on a CD, which isn't usable with any modern computer. Drivers are also kinda hard to find once in the application.

Watch for mounting nut mismatch
This is the first time I've written poor review for an adapter which electrically functions but mechanically it's a mess. The equipment I need to connect to has a DB9F connector. This adapter has a DB9M connector. So far so good. Only this adapter has a nut instead of a screw. The photo in the listing for this device showed a nut, but the nuts are typically removable, they have a screw end on the opposite side. When I tried to remove the nut it just spun in the housing. It won't come off!! Fortunately I had a dremel tool handy. After breaking 4 cutoff wheels and some melted plastic I finally had something that would mate. This was an unnecessary problem. If the mfr simply used a screw then there would be no problem mating to another connector with a screw, because the screws are designed to have end play to retract out of the way of a nut. If they used neither a screw or a nut it would be no problem. If they used a nut which was removable it would have been no problem. If the connector you're mating to has a nut then don't buy this product, this manufacturer hasn't executed the normal and expected mechanical design effort for compatibility. One more thing, I was one of the lucky ones who did not need a driver. The device came with a CD but no driver link. Are these people stuck in the 20th century? Why not a download link in the product listing, or on the box, or on the CD? Why do we have to chase them for small stuff like this??Next time I'll buy from a vendor who cares about their customers by taking care of the details so that we don't have to.

Second Try.
This is not the first wire I have tried. The first didn't wake up the reader writer with a 9 pin connection... I needed the unit to work with USB connection. The second wire was Easy to use but didn't do the job I needed.Delivery was perfect, no problem there, but the 9 pin to USB did not give a driver that worked with my laptop.
