Neck King - Hands-Free Trigger Point Self Massage Tool for the Neck and Back (Blue)

I am attempting to correct several different postural/muscle imbalance problems. I have pretty severe cervical and thoracic vertebrae misalignments (doctor was actually horrified when he saw the x-rays and called to inform me that I had the cervical spine of an 80 year old). I also have piriformis syndrome (sciatic nerve runs through the piriformis muscle instead of under or over and so is crushed when the muscle goes into spasms resulting in sciatic pain and muscle weakness). My work also requires a lot of computer time, so I am just generally a mess. The Neck King is just one of the products that I've purchased to address these problems, and I have to say that it is definitely the best. It does hurt like the blazes when you first lower yourself on it, but if you just breath deeply and try to relax you find the spasming muscles gradually let go and release. I have now used it all the way from the cervicals to the sacrum and it is more effective than anything else I have used, including weekly chiropractic adjustments. The best part for me is that it helps with sciatic nerve irritation. My chiropractor was constantly attempting to adjust my pelvis to lessen the spasming of the hip flexors and also used trigger point pressure. But I would just re-offend (i.e. I didn't "hold the adjustment"). By lying with the Neck King under my sacrum and rocking gently I seem to be able to apply pressure in just the right area to relax muscles that are pulling the sacrum and pelvic bones out of alignment. Best of all, I can do this on my own, without paying a fortune for adjustments/massages or begging family members for help. The Neck King is definitely more painful to use than tennis balls (although you can pad it with towels if you like), but it is also much more effective.

I just got mine today and love it already! I suffer from chronic tension headaches and migraines. I have tried the tennis ball under the neck thing but a person can't relax like that because the ball keeps moving . I've bought heavier balls like lacrosse balls but same issue. I got my neck king today and was surprised that it is larger than I thought it would be. It is the perfect size though to hit the trigger points! For reference I am a female, 5'5, 165 lbs so pretty average sized. So I lay this thing on the floor and lay on it, and good God that feels great! There are some seriously tense muscles on the back of my skull that need release. I also tried it on the bed and that was just as good. This is going to be in constant use, I can see already! This thing is really simple but effective and I would highly recommend it if you suffer from headaches .

This was a replacement purchase. It’s essentially the same, yet much lighter. Doesn’t have the same solid feel of my previous neck king. Time will tell how it will hold up. As for the purpose of the item- it is great. I use it every night. It is priced high considering what you get- yet, the relief I get makes it well worth the cost. It does take some getting used to the way it feels, my daughter says, “ feels like I have rocks being pushed into my neck.” She does still go for it though to help relieve tense muscles.

I've tried my share of manual and electric back/neck trigger massagers for trigger points and knots. This one is... ok. Just ok. It works, just not really well. You will never have a massager that caters to everyone as some people want firm and pointed pressure, while others can only tolerate something softer and more diffuse. I'm in the former category, and I'm more than willing to put up with a alot of pain if it means getting out a knot. This one tries to do both in a way. It's hard plastic styrene vacuum formed, not hard foam as I was expecting. The surface is very smooth, which is ok, but the bottom edge is sharp. Not knife-sharp, but hard abrupt transition in the plastic that might tear fabric if you tried using it in bed or on a massage table. So ground-only unless you put something underneath, which is kind of dumb that they didn't include a cover. The bumps are round and smooth, which can provide a deep massage if the thing only had 1 pair of bumps. But since it has two pairs, I could never position it without the second pair propping up the rest of my neck, reducing the pressure. I tried every angle and shifted my neck up and down, and there were simply areas I couldn't reach well without having one pair under my skull or shoulderblades. Not pleasant. When it works, it works well enough, but two tennis balls taped together work "well enough". For $25, I was underwhelmed.

I had an amazing massage at a resort in New Jersey, by the therapist who invented this device. He did such a great job on my neck, that I asked him if he had any advice for how I might proceed to live with less (or no!) neck pain. Only then did he tell me about his invention. I ordered it right away and have used it daily for several minutes. It's been less than a week, and I already have much less pain more range of motion, and am sleeping better. I really can't believe it, because I have had chronic neck pain for years. It feels strange at first. It seems too big, and it hurts a little. But I believe that using it for a few minutes at a time, and gradually increasing, will really be helpful. The You Tube instructional video was also very helpful. Thank you, Glenn!

Got this thing while I was on bed rest, hoping that it would help release the tension building up in my neck. It's super hard and I can't get it in a position where it's comfortable. I shouldn't say that it makes me uncomfortable, it's more like down-right excruciating pain. I've had trigger point therapy before, and it is key to be able to control pressure. If it is too deep, it can actually cause the muscle to lock up and create more problems. This product isn't at all what I thought it would be, but that's what I get for purchasing a product like this sight-unseen. I would suggest looking into a softer product with more "give", like a still point inducer. Something that won't leave you with a headache and tender, sore muscles for days. Maybe it's not made for a woman, because it seems to be too big?

I have lots of chiropractic/muscle issues and I own about every product on the market from heating pads to an inversion table, and I just have to say that this is the best neck relaxer I've ever come across. I'm literally writing this review after having just used the product for the first time. Though it may not look like a magical tool, this product is perfectly molded to not only apply direct pressure to exactly all the right spots, but it does it while maintaining complete comfort. Awesome! And, it comes with details instructions on how to use this to relax muscles up and down your spine all the way to your glutes. Just lay down, do small twists and turns and RELAX! If you've ever tried the old lying on a tennis ball trick, you'll feel like you've been transported to the future with the Neck King!

In my opinion, the last thing you want when you have neck stiffness, disc issues, and pain - or simply need some release in those muscles you tend to stiffen the most at the base of your skull - is over-sized, hard, inflexible plastic with stiff, protruding nodules. At first, I thought: well, I can cushion my neck with a towel. I wasn't exactly looking for comfort, but some combination of thoughtful design and effectiveness. But after using it once or twice, I would look at the Neck King and feel turned off, tense at the thought of using that cheaply made (but somewhat expensive) "massage tool." A sore or injured neck needs pliability, not to be locked into a rigid position. Disappointed, I sent it back after a week and am now trying out something new. In the interest of full disclosure, I will say that I am somewhat "petite"; perhaps if you are a hulking man the King will work wonders for you.

I'm not the biggest guy in the world at 5'9, but I found this thing way too big. You're way better off using something like a Beastie Ball. But I could see people over 6'1 liking this.
