Klein Tools ET140 Pinless Moisture Meter for Non-Destructive Moisture Detection in Drywall, Wood, and Masonry; Detects up to 3/4-Inch Below Surface

I purchased this to detect moisture inside of my home. It works great and is a simple tool for even a basic DIYer. The device is easy to read, the brightness of the display is just right...especially in dark places. The price is good, given that Klein is a very reputable brand with quality tools. I was able to scan all of my walls and detected another area of high moisture that I was unaware of....unfortunately! Definitely a useful device to see what is happening on the inside of your walls.

Works just as it should!!! Buying a new house and after paying an arm and a leg for an inspector to miss everything, I bought my own tools and find water damage that was missed! Sooo easy to use, very specific when it comes to what you’re testing, the range of moisture, gives results bright and fast. Great tool to have!

It seemed to work pretty well but how do you really know. It did detect moisture behind the drywall where I had a leak but other areas like around dry window frames seem to treat higher than I thought they should.

Works perfect especially for the price. Easy to read screen. Easy to use. Accurate instructions and gives you a sense of relief knowing there are no leaks.

It does what it says it will do. No complaints and if you are suspect excessive moisture, then this is the device you want to get. Works great, and is easy to read. Screen is will bright enough.

Water spots appeared on the bathroom ceiling that sent me into panic mold mode. I scheduled a Home Contractors Company to come out and take a look. Inquiring from the Service guy I learned there's actually a tool for testing moisture levels and in my oh my god it's mold mind I immediately had to have one of my own. I started reading product reviews and Handy Man testing reviews. This Klein model is rated most accurate at a much lower price. Easy to use with clear accurate results. I am so relieved that I myself are now able to detect any moisture causing mold problems before it happens. Most other products can only do this test by puncturing 2 holes in each and every area you want to test. Thankfully I can avoid having to repair drywall by testing throughout the entire house. I am not tech savy at all and can use this as easy as using a thermometer! Compared against the Service Companies testing device it was spot on accurate to a .001 difference in sensitivity. At about the size of a cell phone with large Lcd viewer results screen a simple 3 button user interface and accuracy it's a must have. Thankfully it's made of a thick molded plastic to withstand the multiple times I've dropped it already. I would recommend every Household concerned about mold purchase this product.

Seems to be a great moisture meter. I believe it's accurate and the readings are consistent. Before and after planing shows a difference of .4% which proves this meter was worth the money. It also works great for other materials. Would recommend.

I don't know how this tool works, but it's magic. It is very easy to use and causes no damage to the surface being tested. The hardest part of using this tool is finding a flat surface that fits the entire unit. Most of the time that's not a big deal because floors, walls, wooden boards etc. are pretty flat. My challenge was with crown mouldings. The sensor is a small patch on the back of the meter, but to get the sensor to lie flat on the wall you need the entire unit to lie flat. Fortunately this is easier to use than a stud sensor because you just need to find some orientation that gets a portion of the sensor into contact with your surface of interest. In addition, you can see the readout change as you approach the surface so you can tell how well you are doing. Measuring the moisture level of a dry area helps to determine if you are getting good enough contact to the region of interest. For my need this was much better than a pin type meter because it did not drive any holes or pinpricks into the surface of my walls. Because it causes no damage I was able to test many areas to determine what dry was before getting to the area of concern. I definitely would not have done that if it meant putting little holes into the wall.
