Bought for my Wife
My wife is disabled. She was sleeping on the recliner couch so she could sit up and such. She ended up in the hospital and couldn't get off the couch any more. The Dr. thought she needed to be in assisted living since she couldn't really get up and do things for her self. We got this bed to make getting up and around easier. It was a great decision. The bed it's self has height adjustment so you can get it to the right height to get up and around. The head and foot adjustments of the bed its self are much better than the recliner couch could ever do. She can actually lay flat for a good nights sleep. I wish I had bookmarked the manufacturers video for assembly as the written directions leave out removing a bit of shipping stabilizers that really makes a difference for assembly. They dropped it off on a pallet in my driveway which could have been a problem on a rainy day. It is heavy for a 60+ year old man to drag up the stairs but it was worth it. My wife gives it a 4 star rating because she can feel the springs of the mattress. You might consider a foam mattress cover for comfort. I am still looking at them but still don't have one to review. Oh one last thing. The height adjustment is controlled by a bar running the length of the bed. When she first got it her sheet got caught in the turning shaft at the end of the bed... Just something to watch out for.

A Nice, Affordable Medical Bed
I gave it a 4 star rating because of the shipping. Even though it arrived on-time, it could have gotten to me about 6 days sooner, if the sub-contracted shipping company (that works with Averitt Shipping) would have gotten the correct address and an actual phone number to call me. But, since I ordered through Amazon and my phone number wasn't released to anyone else and someone screwed-up my shipping address, this bed sat in a warehouse for about 6 or 7 days. All while, the tracking info on Amazon had this bed stuck on being picked-up by carrier. When I went to Averitt Shipping web site and put in my tracking number, it let me know my bed had made it near me. So, then, I called Averitt Shipping and found out where it was sitting at. They had to get up with the sub-contracted shipper that they drop their stuff off to and get it set-up to be delivered to me. The driver was 90 minutes late delivering it to me, after I waited all day. But I won't go into that. My advice to anyone buying this bed off of Amazon is call the shipping company that the seller of the bed uses, at least, 2 days after you notice it's been shipped, so you can make sure the shipping address is correct and that they have your phone number to call and set up a delivery date/time. otherwise, it will probably set in a warehouse, until it gets sent back to the seller. I just wanted to save others from this aggravation. As for the bed, it was in great shape and it came WITH a mattress! Yay! I noticed that the word "mattress" had gotten cut out of the description, but it did say "innerspring," so I assumed it meant innerspring mattress. And I was right. So, it DOES come with it. The bed was heavier than I expected and it took me and hubby a while to put together. Where we made the mistake was putting the metal pegs and carter pins in when we put the wheels on. If you want the WHOLE bed to move up and down when you mash the whole bed up and down button, DON'T DO THAT. LOL! The metal pegs lock it in place and keep the bed at one height. It took us over 30 minutes to knock those dadgum things back out of the legs, once we had the bed all set-up. Anyways, if it's your first time doing this, get a buddy and expect to spend an hour or longer putting it together. But it's worth it. So far, the bed works great. Don't know how long it will last, but my family member (who really needed it) seemed happy with it. I hope they get a lot of use out of it. We got the half rails, so we ended up with 3 boxes and a plastic coated innerspring mattress. So it was a total of 4 items that all this came in. Hope this helps anyone else ordering this listing.

This is a great bed!
This bed was easy to set up. You can't hear the motor running. It rolls on p-lush carpets (no easy, but it will roll). The instructions were wrong in one place but a call to the dealer corrected the problem.

Made My Life as a Caregiver Easier
My 101 year old mother has lived with me for the past 15 years or so. In recent months, she has become weaker, and I thought that a hospital type bed would make life a little easier for me with regard to getting her in and out of bed. This bed has worked out perfectly for my needs. The ability to electrically raise and lower the bed itself has made it easier for me to get her into and out of bed and/or change the bed sheets, etc. The ability to electrically raise the back and leg area makes it easier to position her into a seated position for eating, etc. for those times that she is experiencing hallucinations and can't safely get out of bed. Also, the full bed rails has been priceless with regard to keeping her safe - especially during those times she experiences hallucinations. The delivery company was wonderful in working with me on the delivery date and time, and even accommodated me when I had to change the delivery date due to car trouble which delayed our anticipated arrival time. They were very kind and went out of their way to accommodate delivery to be as convenient as possible for "me", instead of the typical delivery companies that dictate delivery times according to "their" needs. If there was one improvement, it would be to offer the ability to purchase some sort of Velcro style cover to place around/over the railings as my mother (during her hallucinations) managed to get her leg "through" the rails and was unable to figure out how to get her leg back out - which could have been very dangerous with regard to breaking her leg, etc. Fortunately, I have a video baby monitor and heard her making noises while trying to remove her leg, so I was able to go assist her "before" she did any serious damage. She did however have very bad bruising as a result. I consider myself lucky that it wasn't worse. I now cover the rails with additional blankets and shove towels in between the rail and the bed to hold the blankets in place and prevent her from poking any of her limbs through the rails. I keep planning to make a cover myself, but somehow I just haven't been able to find the time - but the blankets have worked pretty good so far.
