This is a very simple drive that is ideal for basic laptops or gaming consoles. It does its job well and is actually quite fast for a 5400 RPM drive. However, -1 star for the noise level. This is one of the loudest hard drives I've ever seen. When reading and writing, the thing makes a lot of noise. Nonetheless, the noise is really only audible if you are right up next to it (if it were in your laptop in your lap for instance) or if you are in a very quiet room.For a gaming console, this is pretty much perfect. For a laptop, I would only recommend this if you want the cheapest option available. If you're willing to pitch in a few more dollars, this day and age offers SSDs, which, for laptops, are a dream come true due to the fact that they are not susceptible to mechanical damage like HDDs are, so you don't have to nearly have a heart attack every time you drop your laptop, thinking you might have just killed your storage device.But if you're like me, and you just want the cheapest option available, this is the way to go.Just make sure you contact the seller to ensure that you are getting that 3 year warranty!

I'm using two of these to clone my folk's OS drive on their computers. In the event that their 120 GB SSDs fail, I can just swap this (much slower) drive in with their OS and programs and they're largely back up and running in 10 minutes.So far so good as both I ordered were recognized, formatted easily and had zero problems with the cloning software.Testing them was successful as the computer booted with these in place of their regular SSDs. Super slow compared to the SSDs, but they work and that's what's I'm after. Aside from the slow performance, I can't tell that the computers are loading off of these rather than the SSDs.I can't complain for the price and what I'm using them for. Solid back ups, very low cost and acceptable emergency performance.One last note, these drives are recognized by Western Digital's Acronis True Image software as HGST is now part of Western Digital.DO NOT USE Acronis True Image as there is a serious bug that causes your source drive to fail to boot after cloning. Software designed to mitigate disaster causes it. YIKES. Macrium reflect free is a far safer choice.

I have purchased Hitachi Travelstar 2.5 inch 500GB 5400 RPM internal hard drive to replace the Fujitsu HD which came w/ MacBook (2006 model). Old one just simply died on me. Installation part was easy, however, during formatting, I kept getting "input/output error" But, it turns out it was not Hitachi HD problem, the disk utility CD from MAC was too outdated for this HD, according to my computer tech friend. Anyhow, now that it is running smoothly, I mean this drive is so quiet that it is definitely noticeably quiet from the previous drive. It is virtually silent and I am loving it. I'll review it again in sometime later, but for now I am very happy with the outcome!!! And yes, also the speed has improved, but I haven't begun to pile all the junks to the computer yet, so we will see.

Used it on a old Dell that had a 60 gb drive. Now have tons of space for old data that I need to keep on old operating system for various reasons. So this drive did what I hoped it would do. No problems so far.

bought it to replace an older WD disk. Does the job, but was a little noisier. At first it was a bit annoying, after a while I got used to it, but still no reason for this. Nothing that would trouble you - but noticeable when using the disk in a very quiet room.

I bought this to replace the exact same model on a computer that was less than 1 year old. The original was not under warranty as it was purchased in Europe. After installing a new OS and other software, the computer is back online and working well.

I wanted more capacity. I got it with the 320GB drive. It is a little louder that the original but barely audible so that is good. With somewhat of a surprise I downloaded My Documents on the 320 with WxPP and now I have only 100GB left for movies.

This hard drive is awesome. Since I have a ssd, I don't really care about the speed, all I want my hard drive is to be as quiet as possible. I tried hitachi travel star, western digital blue, and the toshiba one. Those are all really loud, very noticeable when using your computer in a quiet environment. This drive is very quiet, the noise is not noticeable at all. If you are looking for a quiet drive, this is the one.

Come da titolo, un hard disk da 2,5 pollici che ormai è sorpassato, un serial ata 150 molto lento ed a mio avviso inutilizzabile come hard disk per PC, ma è uno dei pochi che sono riuscito a reperire come piena compatibilità per PS3 fat e slim. Avevo la necessità di sostituire il vecchio hard disk della mia PS3, e questo si è rivelato il migliore dopo affannose ricerche in internet dei probabili modelli compatibili. Arrivato e sostituito senza alcun problema, riconosciuto al primo colpo. Unica pecca, ovviamente la velocità, non si può pretendere molto da un sata 1, ma la colpa più che dell'hard disk è del canale sata della play. Sicuramente avrei potuto utilizzare un SSD, ma la spesa sarebbe stata superflua ed inutile dato che la play usa un canale sata 1 a 150MB/s e non avrei mai sfruttato al massimo un SSD. La spesa non è delle minori, in giro si trovano hard disk meno cari, ma tra i compatibili è sicuramente il migliore ed il più affidabile, purchè non prenda urti nel trasporto. Ottimo il servizio amazon prime, arrivato con un eccellente imballo ed opportunamente sigillato nuovo.

Il prodotto è arrivato nel tempo stabilito e in perfette condizioni, ottimo l'imballo.E' stato acquistato per sostituire HDD rotto su notebook packard bell easynote tj65, il prodotto acquistato è risultato perfettamente compatibile ed ora con nuovo sistema operativo funziona che è una favola.Hard disk veramente silenzioso Hitachi davvero notevole.Venditore da me già conosciuto come cliente , per me Yeppon è garanzia di serietà e cortesia.Amazon sempre impeccabile , servizio Prime eccezionale .

Quando ho fatto l'ordine ero indeciso, visto che questi prodotti sono molto delicati e farli viaggiare con i classici "corrieri" mi sembrava rischioso.l'imballo era appena sufficiente per il trasporto ma il disco è arrivato intatto.in ogni caso prima di utilizzarlo ho fatto un test con hdtune e tutto è filato liscio.

Acquistato per sostituzione HDD pari caratteriste su un notebook Asus subito montato e sembra ottimo, magari non velocissimo ma è sempre un 5400.Conforme alla descrizione, Amazon non tradisce mai, a parte sta cosa delle consegne affidate alle Poste Italiane.Please tornare ai corriere espressi.
