Reliable Rubbermaid.
I was always finding bread crumbs in my freezer drawer. I decided to look for containers to hold my bread and found these Rubbermaid bread containers. As with all Rubbermaid products, they are well made. The size of the container surprised me. You could put one of those big deli breads in it. My loaf of bread fit with room left over on the sides and top. Excellent product if you want to stop your family from leaving trails of bread crumbs in your freezer. One thing I noticed is when you first take it out of the freezer, the top is a little hard to remove. I am hoping with time, it will loosen up. If you put your bread on the counter, you won't have any problems opening it.

Great Product
I have to say I am much more impressed with this than I ever expected to be. I bought it because we had a minor rodent issue and they loved the bread when it was sitting out. The rodent issue has since been resolved, but I use this now because it really keeps the bread much fresher for much longer. Where the bread was going stale after about a week just sitting on the counter in the original wrapper, it now stays fresh for at least 2 weeks and usually much longer. I'm throwing away a lot less bread, which means I'm buying much less bread. This thing basically has paid for itself many times over.

Does the job, more or less, but overpriced
I've been looking for a way to store 1-1/2 and 2-pound loaves from my bread maker. I find they fit in this container a bit snugly, but I can work them in and out with minimal effort. The main point is that the bread stays fresh for days. (The lid fits quite tightly.) I'm giving this product four stars instead of five for two reasons: it's too long--long enough to hold two loaves of bread-maker bread, so it looks kind of odd on the kitchen counter, and it's definitely overpriced. But it's the only one I could find with the width I needed, so I shut up and paid up. Just wish a shorter model was available.

Does only one job, but does that well.
This keeper is large enough to handle even the longest loaf of commercially-made sandwich bread. Wider loaves won't fit without being squashed at the edges, but a regular-width loaf, which is the vast majority of what my supermarket sells, will slide into the case just fine. It is not quite long enough to handle two of the shorter loaves which are so common, but after you've grabbed a few slices, it'll easily hold one full and one partial loaf. Perhaps Rubbermaid also manufactures a shorter version for the smaller loaves. I do not recommend removing the bread from the wrapper and storing it in the keeper, as there will be too much airspace and your bread will dry out. We always just drop the loaf in, plastic + twist tie and all. It slides in very easily (unlike another reviewer's The combination of these (sealed keeper and closed plastic wrap) does seem to keep the bread longer than just the plastic wrap ever did. However, the biggest thing we like the keeper for is protecting the bread from being knocked over, dropped, squashed, spilled on, etc. It's not going to be as versatile for other shapes of baked goods. For example, you won't fit a full package of hamburger buns in here without squashing them, and a package of tortillas would need to be rolled up. For something like that, a large rectangular bin might be more versatile. We own two of these, and the only real negative is that the lid is not terribly flexible. It must be lined up *perfectly* to go on, and usually requires a bit of a whack to make it click into place. I'd take off a half star for that if I could.

Great Container for "Standard" Sized Loaves
I haven't used a bread "box/container" for most of my life. As I grew older, I also have eaten less bread on a daily basis. I do like "breakfast" sandwiches with fried eggs and a small piece of sausage once in a while. Not a big fan of English Muffins so I was left with bread in the loaf style. Since I don't use bread every day, I needed/wanted a container to help keep the bread fresh. I usually use a version of "whole wheat" which I prefer. I like some of the "wider" loaves available from numerous bread makers but they don't fit so well in the RubberMaid container I had decided to buy. No problem because there are some good examples of whole wheat with adequate amounts of fiber in "standard sized loaves"--less calories/slice this way as well. I have been using the RubberMaid bread container for several months. I live in a drier climate and have had no problems as of yet with the unit. In fact, I have been quite impressed with how long bread stays fresh in this container. So I really do--as of now--really like this product because of the great job it does keeping my bread fresh.

Funny story, rather then send it back
The bread box was ok except that it was way bigger (longer) than a loaf of bread. This made it clumsy to handle and hard to find a spot for in the kitchen. Funny story, rather then send it back, I decided to cut the end of it off to the "right" size and glue a new bottom to it with an old piece of 1/8th"plastic I had laying around. After making a huge mess and getting "crazy" glue in places I didn't intend it to go, like the kitchen counter (wife was not amused), the whole thing went in the garbage.

These are great for bread, but guess what else!
These fit loaves of bread (homemade or store-bought) perfectly with plenty of room to spare, but guess what else they fit perfectly - a 12 pack of Ramen noodles! Lol These containers PERFECTLY hold a 12 pack of Ramen noodles. I'm a working single mom with two teenagers who also work, so often times we're not all home at the same time for me to cook the wholesome stuff they need to eat. When that's the case, good old-fashioned Ramen works for them to tide them over until I get home to cook. Sure, I've tried teaching them to cook the basics, and they've tried cooking for themselves; bless their hearts, they just suck at it, and frankly, I'd prefer not to come home to my house burned down. Not everyone is destined to be a chef, right? So, all in all, bread AND Ramen noodles stay fresh in these containers. The tops are easy to take off and put on and they're a snug fit on the seal. I recommend these for sure. :)
