Wow - ok - these ARE sharp!
I wanted a nice set of steak/meat cutting knives because it seems that our good set - while nice, didn't quite have the feel of a good knife. These are great! We have two very high-end chef's knives that are truly an experience to use - so sharp, good weight in the hand - for chopping/slicing, etc. I wanted something similar for steaks/meat. I tried one the other night on steak and it cuts through like butter and this wasn't a filet - it was a regular steak with some gristle. I haven't had that sensation with a steak knife even in the good steak restaurants. I picked a non-serrated blade because in researching knives, some prefer not tearing the meat which even the sharpest serrated knives will do. These weren't the most expensive and definitely not the cheapest but these will be our knives for many years so - good investment. You won't need any more steak knives if you get these. (side note - I keep these away from our daily knives so they are only used for meals with meat because I don't want to think about sharpening them soon... We use steak-sized knives as utility knives all day long - cutting fruit, veges, cooked meats - but not these. You could, of course, but we don't need this type of sharpness in our daily knives.)

Matches my other shun classic knives
Purchased 2 sets of these and unfortunately the 2 sets didn’t match each other. I contacted the seller and we found out that the knives were from 2 different lots and the one set was the “old style”. Seller was super prompt with replacing the one set with a matching set.The knives looked identical, they just didn’t sit in the knife block the same. Just a subtle difference in the shape of the blade between the tip and heel.Like I said, seller was super prompt in rectifying the problem.I love these knives. They’re super sharp and SHUN will sharpen them for free if you ship them to their US headquarters. This is a multi-lifetime product. They will probably be in my family for generations as long as they’re taken care of.

Lightweight and Shun sharp
Nice looking knives and work really well. I have many Shun knives and have had good luck with them.

Nice quality
Nice looking knife but not the most high quality dumascus steel and dulled quickly (1st use with boneless prime rib roast) would like to had them keep edge longer. i would recommend but buying on sale would help with value

This set, a year in.
I have used this set since Nov of 2020 and I would say that these are probably the nicest knives I have ever used and maintained. They keep their edge pretty well but even if they lose it, it took very little time and effort to sharpen on a whetstone. They are prone to rusting if left to air dry so just take the extra 10-15 seconds and dry off the blade when you are done hand washing them.

A knife lover's indulgence...
I already own and love a full set of Shun kitchen knives, which is why I ordered these for the dinner table. They shaved like a straight razor right out of the box. They are expensive but I think well worth it. They cut through steak like butter. Be aware, they are hard and have thin edges, so you must be careful not to chip or dull them on the dinner plate. I wish they sold them in a dozen pack for cheaper. I have only one small gripe that the seller apparently had used them for display, had the shipping edge spacers off the blades during shipment, and it scored the inside of the beautiful shun box, that you keep.

Excellent knives
These knives are insanely sharp, well balanced, and light enough to use for long periods without any effort. Wonderful cooking / eating knives. The only downside is that I can imagine the tips might break off fairly easily, but keep them safe and they seem like they’d last a lifetime. Highly recommended.
