I use these on fender style trees, and I love the tusk product. Its never caused issues with tuning.

Great product. It was relatively easy to install. In reality the biggest install issue wasn’t related to this kit itself, but removing the original plastic nut. I installed on a Fender Squier Affinity to replace the original nut since I was already going to have the strings off. However, the lacquer finish on the headstock and neck had it locked in pretty good. I spent about an hour and a half on the replacement, with only about 15-20 minutes actually dealing with this product. In the end I had to cut the old one out with a dremel rotary tool. Once I had that mess out of the way sanding and installing this was a breeze. It fit snug enough that I didn’t even need to glue it in position.

A TUSQXL nut and string trees is hands down the best upgrade for your guitar, while also being one of the cheapest! Even moreso if you have a trem equipped guitar! Tuning stability is night and day. Pair this with Big Bends Nut Sauce, or your string lube of choice and you will be staying in near perfect tune even with the most aggressive trem useage!

Bought two of this exact kit. Installed on a 1998 Fender MIM Deluxe Series strat, and a 2018 Fender 60th Anniversary Jazzmaster Classic. Both of these guitars came with a plastic nut and a stamped string tree. The Strat is setup with a floating bridge Jeff Beck style. The Jazzmaster has a Mastery Bridge and Vibrato. Using the instructions for graphtech install I was able to quickly setup the guitars nuts and nail the heights. Using feeler gauges with capo on 3rd to set the height. I can now flutter, divebomb and trem action all I want with nearly zero tuning instability. It's not going to be solid like a floyd, but I can get through a set of 10 songs without having to touch the tuners once while using the trem bar. Seriously, these nut and tree combos turned an already sweet set of guitars into a performance ready gigging duo. Fender please take note, you should be using these on new guitars. I will never leave a nut stock again unless it's a graphtech.

Always my go to when I need a new nut. Sand the bottom properly and no nut files are needed. Just be sure to sand the G, B, (and especially) the high E) a little more, as the strings are thinner on this side and need to sit ever-so-slightly a little lower. Or have someone do it for you if not up to the task, because if you go too far you'll need another but it have to use a shim.

It works but it's just barely tall enough on my Squire tele. Wish there was a bit more height to work with.

Install was easier than I expected. Just take your time and sand things slowly and carefully, measuring very often. It took me about 30 minutes to get it just right, but I would sand a little, check, sand, check, etc. If you put on the High and Low E strings, you put in the nut, tighten them a bit (doesn't have to be in tune, but needs to be tightened so the string it taut), then hold at the 3rd fret and use a feeler gauge to measure at the 1st fret. While holding at the 3rd you should have .010" of clearance on the low-E side at the first fret, and .006" on the high-E. You can buy feeler gauges at any auto parts store. Just take off a little bit at a time on either side, and you'll get there. Better to take too little so you can take a little more than to take too much and then you're pretty much out of luck. :-)

I recently bought this for my squier bullet mustang and lemme say, it makes a big difference. I just bought these with cheap locking tuners so instantly, it made quite a good combo with them. The stock nut and trees were fine but they weren’t as good. BUT THESE TAKE IT TO A WHOLE OTHER LEVEL. If you’re planning to buy this, I recommend planning a way to swap out the nut particularly because it was quite tricky to replace it. Tools: 1. Grit paper (mainly 200-60 grit) 2. Wood glue 3. A block of wood (big or smol) 4. X-acto knife 5. A mind with a average adult (because this might be hard/difficult to install) If you’re not prepared, I’d recommend giving it to a luthier to do it for you. BUT ALL TOGETHER, for the price of these, they are really good and definitely feel 10X better than the stock ones :)
