easy to program
With so many different thermostats that's available I was glad I chose this one. It was very easy to program once I put the batteries in it I was able to actually sit in my chair and program it without having to stand and do it by the wall where I mounted it. It was very easy to install the wiring diagrams were perfect. I like the size of the LCD display it works flawlessly I couldn't be happier especially at the price point that I purchased it for I would highly recommend this unit for anyone looking for a quality thermostat replacement

Best Bang for the Buck I've seen in 20 years
I have 30 yrs HCAC experience, and I am SO impressed by this t-stat. I tried this on a whim because it's the first t-stat I've seen in years with the 24v power option that didn't cost $100.First impressions when I took it out of the box: It felt solid and had some weight to it. Totally unlike "light-weighted" Honeywell junk that is over-priced to begin with. Buttons are solid with affirmative feedback when pressed.I wired it up to operate without batteries (hooked-up the 24 volt common). Extremely pleased with its operation. Backlight is a pleasant soft white with easy-to-read display suitable for my aging eyes. Menu is well thought out and easy to navigate. The Tech-level adjustments are well executed as well. I was really excited that it even has a thermometer calibration feature in addition to the Swing adjustment. Very smart the way they separated these Technician level adjustments separated from the homeowner-level/programming adjustments so the homeowner doesn't get in over their head or screw something up.I also tested it running on batteries. Ran just fine. Battery life is unknown since I'm only using batteries for backup. I'm also impressed with the battery access. No need to remove the t-stat from the sub-base to access batteries like many of the flimsy Honeywells. This Heagstat has an easy access panel on the front. This is the nearest thing thermostat Valhalla I've come across in years. I purchased 5 more just to have on hand. The only thing they could possible add that would make it pure Valhalla would be to include a Plain-Jane hour meter (in addition to the filter hour count feature).Solid 5 Star product.

Good for its value
If this was one of those expensive thermostats, I would've given a lower rating. But it's budget so I can't really complain. The install was easy and the directions for programming was also easy. I also like the flexibility on what turns on and how long it's on. And as someone who came from a dark age thermostat, the background light on this thing is really nice. Some reviewers had problems with the buttons being sticky, but so far 2 weeks in I haven't experienced this... yet.But... this thermostat is just not flexible enough. I live in the desert so 90°F isn't a high temperature for me. I have a power saving time so my electric bill isn't sky high. During this time I can't have the AC on at all. If I were able to set the temps to 99° that'd be fine but I can't. 90° max. If I were able to flex the temp calibration down to -10° degrees, that'd be great but I can't. Only - 3° max. I have a 2 story house so I put this downstairs where it will be less of a problem. I'm going to have to go with a smart thermostat if I want anything for upstairs.Update: Unfortunately, I had to return this. The limitations just weren't cutting it. Also, within the month of having this t-stat, the AC hooked up to it stopped working. An electrical board got burnt up and then some which took me near $1k to fix. It's likely just coincidental, but regardless I removed this thermostat when I got the AC fixed. Gonna go with something more expensive and reputable.

A GOOD THERMOSTAT FOR THE MONEY HEAGSTAT H715
My old two heat stage Honeywell thermostat no longer always energized the heat, must have been a problem with the relay contacts. Looked for a replacement 2 stage thermostat and found this one. Although it is not the latest WI-FI enabled, it does what is needed. It is programmable for MON-FRi, and SAT and SUN. The nice thing is that there are adjustments for temperature calibration, cycle rate, and more. (The Honeywell was known for short cycling). There is no info in the book as to when the second stage heat is called on, but it seems like if you are more than a degree below the set-point the second stage is enabled, when the second stage is called for the number +1 appears above the heat symbol. Another nice thing is that it is powered from the heater but also has battery back-up, not like my old Honeywell that did not have battery backup, so with a loss of power I needed to reset the time. I did inquire to HEAGSTAT as to when the second stage was activated, as at one point it seemed like it was always calling for two stage heat. Their reply was disappointing, basically saying to hire an electrician. I would have liked an explanation of how the second stage is energized and info that when it was energized the +1 would appear. The manual also shows a +2, who knows what that is for as there is no info in the booklet. The thermostat so far seems like a great deal for the money, works well and has many adjustments, and is for two stage heat and cooling. I give it five stars, although the customer support was disappointing and a bit insulting.
