Solid and fun package for basic weather enthusiast.
Unit arrived in fine working order (and after adding lots of batteries for outdoor unit and indoor panel). The unit takes little effort to unpack and to install. The primary issue is where to install, so that it is most representative of the conditions. I created a temp installation on a post in my yard that offers shade, but does not allow free wind flow. Having shade reduces the spikes from full sun and does not engage the solar-powered fan. Wind observation is local (as I feel it) and rain seems to get through fine; the latter pretty close to that measured elsewhere in town. make sure to use a compass or smartphone app to align unit with N, which affects the wind direction reading (and S-facing solar panel efficiency). Some after market software (like Weather Display) allows orientation corrections when installation affects N-S alignment. The console uses colored areas with black text, which is a clever, low cost solution to a color LCD. I only wish it dimmed or timed-out, as the light stays on when powered by outlet. Measurements indoor (allowing air ventilation around console) and outdoor seem sound. Several options to change the display are available; check the manual. The most interesting activity is connecting the unit to the internet. I used a USB connection (cable included) on an always-on PC, instead of a dedicated bridge. This way the cost is less and one can see (and adjust) the readings of the unit on the PC. Corrections are needed for pressure and perhaps rain. Pressure is best calibrated with a local permanent weather station, as this value is regional except when a front passes by (pick blue skies and full overcast days to correct). The internal 30-day pressure calibration is close (based on a set average, height-adjusted value for the location), but is not as exact. The Acurite software allows quick connecting to Weather Underground through it webpage interface ("share my bridge"), which takes the readings (but not pressure) to create one's own weather node that is accessible anywhere. Quite cool to see the real backyard conditions (incl. local wind and rain) tracked over days and weeks, as well as forecasts. As long as the unit continues to work, I am a satisfied customer.

Great, I enjoy it
Very accurate. Functional. Fully tested.Unfortunately it came with 120V power adapter and not dual 120/240V. I bought it for Europe.I bought a 220Vac/5Vdc adapter at an old scrap depot.Great, I enjoy it. In particular I like the wind feature and Inside/outside temperature.I dont consider the alarms useful. It is mounted in the sun. I was thinking it would give me the temp on sun.No, It gives me temp in the shade, which I compare with another thermostat. Perfect.I don't know how they do it.

AcuRite 01036 Color Weather Station
Have mine for about 16 days and it works great. Easy to set-up, take your time and follow the instructions. (READ MANUAL FULLY FIRST)..All the readings are accurate. 33 feet is the ideal height, mine is at 8 feet, in direct and indirect sunlight (trees, houses) I checked the accuracy by local, National, and my own gauges, set around the house. The 15 day adjustment period ended yesterday. The online (MY Backyard Weather) works just fine, if you need it. Wish I could send (embed) the page to my (LIVE) Weather cam on YouTube, but it won't let me. Remember, your reading at home doesn't mean the local and national reading will be exact. The local reading from two stations in my area are always off at lease two degrees, and they are only 5 miles apart. I use the station for My Weather, around the house, and separate it from the National and Local readings, even though I use those readings as a guide, I have TV/Computer to get those readings. The READINGS are so close, about one degree +-..The only thing that I would liked changed is.. the screen needs to be able to tilt (on it's stand). and if mounted on the wall, If you don't have it exactly at a certain position, it will dim out, where the reading is difficult or can't be read. A minor problem but can be annoying. A handyman can remedy this problem. Longevity, well, if it last seven years (and still working accurately) like my AcuRite wireless thermometer, I will be more than satisfied. PS.. I only paid 107 dollars for a USED/LIKE NEW, from Amazon Warehouse, only one little smug on the back, hard to see.. you can save money, buy buying used like new items, and you still have a Warranty... AcuRite 01036 Pro. Thanks for reading.

Robusto
Es un producto un poco complicado usar y sobre todo que requiere de herramientas extras y de calibración para tener una mejor exactitud. pero es un producto genial

Quality Product Design, but Damaged unit, even though listed as Used, Good Condition
This weather station is well designed for its purpose, and appears to be well built also. I've only had it up and running for a week. The color display that reports the wea data is attractive and colorful. The color coding on the display makes it easy to spot the info section desired and plenty of weather data is displayed for general weather conditions. Even though the color on the display is provided by an overlay on the display screen, with black LCD readouts, it is generally easy to read, with some exceptions. The LCD readouts are darkest when viewed from slightly above the display unit, and the angle of view greatly affects the ease of seeing the readouts. Contrast is not adjustable. The “Weather Ticker” at the bottom of the display provides useful information, but unfortunately is a bit slow, even at it's fastest scrolling speed. And, it's particularly difficult to read, even when all other display fields are quite visible. This Acurite unit replaces a Davis 6250 weather station that completely quit transmitting data shortly after the 1 year warranty expired. I spoke with a technical rep with Davis and discovered that the unit will have to be returned to the factory to make it functional again – at a cost of $100, plus shipping to the factory. To have electronic components in a weatherized box that doesn't get jostled simply fail after several months is bad enough, but for a $350 unit which becomes a $470 investment after repairs, it's simply not acceptable. Even the Davis tech rep agreed. I'll steer clear of the Davis brand and hopefully have much better service – at less than half the cost – from Acurite. Also, Acurite has a well designed and generally easy to navigate website, with lots of useful information. — One other note, regarding this used device. I bought the Acurite unit through Amazon, as a used but listed in good condition product. The original product box had been taped back together. No shipping damage was apparent but the outdoor sensor unit had been damaged – though not in shipping. One of the 3 wind anemometer cups was broken off from the main shaft. It was obviously not shipment damage because the broken off cup was taped to the bottom of the sensor unit. Also, the wind direction vane was slightly off kilter from its attachment shaft. I was able to repair the broken anemometer cup with gorilla glue and heat shrink tubing, and straighten the direction vane. Both have been operating for a week, with gusts in the mid 20 mph range, so things are functioning. Acurite has a superior website, far superior to the Davis website at least, and they list individual replacement components at reasonable prices.
