Great product but mildly challenging DIY install
I purchased these for my 2004 Nissan 350z (roadster convertible) and they got here sooner than I expected. The kit came with an instruction manual and all the necessary hardware. This was my first time taking apart a car. I had to remove the fenders and the panels off my doors to lengthen wires and remove the door catch through the speaker hole. The kit gave me 8 (18 awg) wires that measured about 10 inches. The wires were thicker than the OEM wires so I bought some 18-22 gauge crimp connectors. After seeing that the wiring harness branched off into 2 different directions in close proximity to the rubber door grommet/boot (8 wires on the bottom, and 6 running up), and, removing several nearby clips, I still couldn't gain the necessary slack needed to reconnect the harness without interference from the hinge. I ended up lengthening the 8 wires on the bottom to achieve this so I exhausted all the supplied wiring, even after calling tech support and having them send me, via email, color enhanced photos that didn't match up to what my car's set up looked like. I ended up buying more 18 gauge wire and connectors to extend the passenger door wiring. The doors function well but I would recommend greasing the zerk fittings before bolting on the hinges because one of the fittings pointing towards the door is hard to grease due to the door being in the way (3 inches of clearance).I would have loved to have given it 5 stars, but because the instructions and pictures weren't exact (even for my model), and it caused some headscratching to improvise, I gave it 4 stars. It is advised by the company to have it professionally installed but it's rather expensive. Also, it's advised by the company to have a second helper to lift the door while tweaking the adjustment screw on the hinge. I improvised by taking a 40 can cooler and braced the doors with it from below (hinge side). It took me 2 days to install in my own driveway, partly because I had to take many breaks from the NC summer heat and predictable afternoon showers. Also, keep in mind that you will need to significantly cut the lip off each fender in order to make room for the new hinges. I was going to dress it up with weather stripping but the stuff I bought wouldn't stick, so I disowned that idea altogether. The door must be opened 35% horizontally (basically, halfway of the original opening angle) before they pass the nub in order to raise them vertically.Feel free to ask any questions you may have and I will try to help the best I can. This is a solid product. Doing the labor is time consuming but not all that difficult if you know how to operate a screwdriver and ratchet. It also saves over $1,000 doing it yourself if you have an air compressor, a reciprocating cutter, grease gun, allen wrenches, painter's tape, and other simple tools for wiring.

Best Kit overall EASY install ! Tru Motorsports seller is the best !
If you have done things like put a model car together BY FOLLOWING DIRECTIONS....and taken things apart, even a bicycle and reassembeled .....then you will be fine !!!The directions are short and ro the point. You do need to use common mechanical sense. Like it says remove the bolts 10mm to remove fender. Well there or 2 bolts a little bigger than 10mm...and I had to remove my whole side skirts ro acess the 2 lower fender bolts....so just use common sense. I instructions are detailed just enough for a mechanically inclined person to breeze through easily. I am in the hot S.C. sun and I took my time with the Drivers door (since it my first Vertical Door Inc install). This took about 4 hrs in my driveway, I used a jack to hold the door. HOWEVER, I am good at weight and balance, so I recommend a partner at 1 point. You need them for like 5 minutes. Here's the trick....FOLLOW the directions. I tightened the set bolt before opening the door. Minor adjustments needed after that.I had things to do after the driver door. So I put my tools away and did the passenger door the next day. In all, both doors could easily take 6hrs for both. With a partner, even less. The hardest part is separating and extending the 3 wires on driver door and the 2 wires on passenger door. (Hint- remove black tape from wires, separate 3 and 2 as mentioned above from wiring harnesses, ALSO cut the retaining zip ties. THIS WILL give you enough length for wiring. ) There is absolutely NO NEED to extend more than 3 driver and 2 passenger door wires. QUESTIONS- MESSAGE ME. IF YOU ARE TO A POINT WHERE YOU THINK YOU NEED TO EXTEND MORE MORES THAN STATED, YOUR DOING SOMETHING WRONG !!!!!I used a cutoff tool to trim the fender. Worked perfect. LOOK AT THE POCTURE IN THE INSTRUCTIONS. DO NOT CUT OFF THE DOG EAR THAT HOLDS THE UPPER INNER BOLT. On passenger side I decided to paint the area I cut off, I may remove the driver fender and do the same. That's at a later date.Take your time with the 1st door and you will run smoothly with the 2nd door.Make spacers and install BEFORE removing the stock door hinge. Also, draw a few lines with a marker on your door and rear fender BEFORE hinge removal. This helps to easily align the door if it drops a little. Use plenty of painter's tape. The door is heavy...and think about it....your using tape to keep it from moving.I would buy this kit again, from the same seller !!!If your asking....the doors open far enough to NOT have to use Vertical every time. It's more of a novelty. Open when you want kinda thing. In and out is a little less than normal operation.Very pleased with this kit for my 2005 350Z. I am doing a respectful not cheesy Transformers theme. This kit fit my needs perfectly........now to buy a 3D Printer 🤔
