Nintendo Game Boy - Original (Gray) (Renewed) [video game]

I got mine in “Excellent condition” and It works amazing, like brand new! Very nostalgic!There were some scuffs but not really noticeable but keep in mind these were used and refurbished, so not complaining but came out beautifully. All buttons work great and sound is good.Overall 5 star.

Buyer beware. I bought this gameboy as a Christmas present for my 10 year old son. By mid February, it stopped working. We're not talking about a situation where he was on it all day long and wore it out, not that such a thing should even be possible in barely 6 weeks. This gameboy didn't even outlast the first set of batteries!! Total junk!I bought it in late October. Other than taking it out and doing a visual inspection when it arrived, it sat in its box, unused until Christmas. By the time it failed in mid February, it was way too late to return it. It's very disappointing.I kind of had a feeling this might happen, but I took a chance because my son had been wanting one for a long time. I hope you have better luck than we did if you choose to roll the dice on one of these.

The Good: Considering just how old the original Game Boy is, this one is in good condition. The unit is clean minus some discoloring with the stickers. The screen and buttons all appear to function fine. One note is that the actual game seems slightly off within the frame, but that could be normal. It would otherwise suggest that something didn’t line up when refurbished. This doesn’t appear to affect gameplay as everything is still visible.The Bad: Despite the title, it is not a gray Game Boy. I can’t find any disclaimers with either Amazon Renewed or RetroRefresh saying that the product may be different. Personally, I am happy to have something that works and has some sort of warranty as opposed to rolling the dice with a third party seller and an as-is product.If you want an original Game Boy that works, this might be the route for you. If you want to guarantee that you get exactly what you see, perhaps look elsewhere. Overall I think you can only expect so much from a refurbished product from the 80s.

When nintendo classic was launched, I was 8 and this was the biggest thing EVER (for an 8 year old). Needless to say it was extremely expensive (lived outside USA) and my parents couldn't afford it. I have been wanting this system for the past 30+ years. I went to Tokyo last year and spent 2 days looking for a classic gameboy in all the right places and couldn't find it anywhere.When I found it here, I figured i'm probably gonna get a broken system with this order that i will have to fix somehow, or it will be disappointing in some other way but wanted to try anyways...I am happy to say I was wrong. Got the gray classic game boy and there isnt even a scratch on it. Also ordered tetris in case it does work, and that also works like a charm. I can relive the childhood. 5 stars for sure!

Disappointed, it looked in great shape, I gave it as a gift for Christmas. When batteries were put in it, it didn’t work. The nostalgia of it was missed when it didn’t work.

Works Perfectly and plays like a game boy did it the 90's, this made me feel like a kid again

Honestly, could not believe that I'd find an orginal Gameboy in such good condition and still works. 5 stars!
