SOUTHWEST WHEEL10" Hydraulic Free-Backing Trailer Brakes

Excellent. Everything worked. Brake lines lined up. Bolt pattern good fit. Adjusted the brakes & bled out the air & the brakes work! We're happy.

I was having troubles with my 1999 Shorelander single axel boat trailer brakes and was looking at options on how to diagnose and repair the issues I was having. I came across these Southwest Wheel 10" Hydraulic Trailer Brakes and since I had a 3500lb axel on my boat, they looked like they would fit the bill - and no matter what the underlying problem for me may have been, by replacing everything I figured the problem should be resolved.Shipping was very fast - I got mine in 3 days. They were well packaged, but the only thing that I did not realize is they did not come with the needed nuts for mounting to the axel. They came with the bolts and lock washers, but no nuts (the amazon pictures showed the nuts should have been included). I just reused the nuts & bolts from the old unit along with the new lock washers that came with these. The install was straight forward and relatively easy - take off the old, attach the new, bleed the system. The mounting holes were in the perfect position for me, no modifications needed. Now my trailer is braking like it should again :)These are nice, simple, and affordable way to swap out your entire wheel assembly with new parts—everything ready to go without the hassle of tracking down/diagnosing individual components.The free-backing feature is not why I bought these, but I tried them out (I live on a small hill and I back the boat up the driveway). They worked as advertised, so that is a bonus feature I am sure I will enjoy.They seam to be well constructed as you can see from my photos (they basically look identical to the originals). The thickness of metal and parts appears to be very similar (if not identical).

The trailer brakes so far have worked great. Install was easy - no issues at all.

Easy to install

I installed these on an older Four Winns boat trailer. They were a perfect fit and work at least as well as the original brakes. The free backing feature is a nice plus.
