Welcome to the Punch

This movie was a great movie starring James McAvoy as a police officer proving what an awesome actor he is. It was full of action and drama. Had an unexpected and surprising ending. I loved every minute and didn't expect how it ended. Another great job by James McAvoy.

I’ll admit, it doesn’t take a miracle for me to enjoy anything from James McAvoy or Mark Strong so having both talents in one movie is a huge bonus. I really enjoyed this movie and thought the plot lines were well thought out. I was really drawn to Strongs character more than anyone and found him to be likable, almost. The only thing missing, in my opinion was Max’s breakdown of events to his superiors, from all the blood and death surrounding him that wasn’t actually by his hands…in a perfect world, I guess.

Whew! Actually had to smoke a cigarette after that ride. I did NOT expect this, for which I am exceedingly grateful. I'd never once heard of this film, but upon seeing Mark Strong was in this, I immediately coughed up the cash. No preview or trailer needed because...it's Mark effing Strong, for crying out loud. Strong does good quite nicely, but when he's bad, oh my gawd he is more magically delicious than a bowl of Lucky Charms. How is it that Strong just gets more powerful, more centered and more handsome with every passing year; totally not fair for us mere mortals. His character was not a one-dimensional caricature of "bad," but rather a multifaceted, still-human bad guy; something we don't see much in film. I went into this expecting the usual James McAvoy; the good guy, the sweet guy, the humble guy, the smart guy. Sure enough, he was all those things, but SO very much more. This is a side of him I've never seen, and he literally chewed up that screen. I was flabbergasted, thrilled and could not take my eyes off him. Really don't want to give away the surprise I encountered with his performance, so will just leave you with that tempting little morsel. During one rather specially-filmed shoot-out, it occured to me that this whole film could have been a Guy Ritchie thing, but in deadly-serious mode. It was visually beautiful, rich, sumptuous and dark. The story is a complex thriller and I'd have to watch again to really catch all the twists and dialogue. In fact, I might watch again with captions, as more than once I could not understand each and every word, even after rewinding a smidge and listening again. But, this took nothing away from the suspense I felt, and others with better ears than mine will do just fine. Soon as this review posts, will be digging for more works directed by Eran Creevy. First time ever hearing of this person and I want more. Five stars do not mean this film is perfect but rather, for me, it was captivating, entertaining and absolutely worth the watch.

Welcome to the punch , well James McAvoy is a good actor but this movie is lacking it's not bad but it's not compelling. Will it pass 2 hours of your time ..yes but if your like me I want those hours pass interestingly. I lost interest in this movie. The movie seem like it got edited badly or it was missing something. Plot McAvoy was at the beginning of his law career a rouge fearless policeman willing to take extreme risk in order to bring a criminal down. He's closing in on robbers in a full on chase when he is badly injured by the leader of gang who give him a life long injury but does not kill him which he easily could have ...This injury that affects him daily makes him embittered and literally slows him down mentally and, physically. This also makes the man who scarred him for life his nemesis in him mind. The criminal who mame him is riding under the radar successfully when his teenager son is mortally injury this bring him out of hiding to help his son and back into the life of McAvoy. IF you like movie like Taken, The Fugitive, etc you like this cat and mouse foreign movie which is on those lines but it won't leave a lasting impression after you turn the TV off.

Very fast paced and entertaining.

The movie is about a British policeman who is wounded by a criminal during a robbery and the events which conspire to make them work together. It is a British film and it is intelligent and crisp. There is violence in the film and at times it is over the top and unrealistic but it is an action film. I won’t give anything away but the ending is exciting but totally unrealistic. Mark Strong’s performance is fantastic.

I love crime dramas and gritty thrillers. I love most of the cast. I figured I'd love this too, right? Alas, while the wonderful cast did what they could, the characters are so one dimensional that if they turn sideways they become invisible. The script and story itself is next to nonexistent and I was left wondering if they'd gotten a few days into filming before remembering no one had written one, yet. I don't like to leave negative reviews, but I had to in this case.

The movie is great, nice action and fast pacing, the script is fantastic. Good for British cinema. Latin Spanish subtitles included.

A very good film - highly underrated - I thoroughly enjoyed it, as did my son when he borrowed it and he is the world's worse film critic, he can find fault with any film and when he returned it he floored me by saying that it was a very impressive film

Well made thriller. Had it been made by a Hollywood studio, it would have been more successful.

"James McAvoy is starting to become my favourite actor"and it's also a know fact that i love British crime drama,this one is right up there with all the rest i've seen,Max [James McAvoy]is after his nemesis Jacob Sternwood [Mark Strong]who 3 years ago Escaped from London during a daring robbery that left Max physically and emotionally scarred,but the beautiful thing about these two is,what happens next in there lives will they kill each other or ??.you have to see it, this movie is very thrilling from the get go,plus there is some good actors in this people like Andrea Riseborough from [Oblivion]with T. Cruise David Morrissey and Peter Mullan and was from executive producer Ridley Scott,this is one thrill ride you have to get on, All the British HD-Master Audio seems so much better than the Americans,i don't know why,after all they make more movies than the British you would think it could come easy for them but no,the voices are clear and crisp you can hear all the words plain as day, 5.1 DTS -HD master Audio. 2.40: lb HD 1080p runtime 99 minutes. Stunning And A Knock-Out-Of a Movie.
