Comfortable warm blanket!
I had no odor to my blanket; I did remove it from packaging a few bays before putting it on the bed. The blanket is really quite large so it does hang over the bed all around. It has a nice feel to it and does not appear wrinkled after using it for several weeks. It actually fells then what the stores were offering.

good value
We wanted a king-size wool blanket for the warmth. We were tired of using a down comforter and wanted a more "finished" look to our bed once it was made. The blanket works and my husband is happy because it is "toasty" warm. We would have bought cashmere if we had the extra money but this blanket works.

Better than my high quality vintage wool blanket
**UPDATE ** March 2019Nowhere on the product description page did it state that this blanket has been treated to be mothproof which is still true as of today, March 30th. In fact the seller states there are no added chemicals, yet an astute observer pointed out that the label on their blanket states "traitement antimite" which is French for mothproofing. I checked and it's on my label as well! I am unaware of any chemical-free treatments to kill moths (but of course am not saying it's not possible). This should be disclosed and detailed on the product page.************LOVE this blanket!!!I live in Maine and prefer to sleep with the heat turned down at night. I've been using a vintage machine washable yellow wool blanket that I was happy with but it's too small for my bed. Also, my fiance always pushed it off of him saying he didn't like it. I wanted to get something new of equal or better quality in the correct size; a blanket not made in China that also comes in pretty colors other than the standard drab muted tones. I thought about a Pendleton but dislike the color selection and also the stitching along the edges which makes it look more like a military issued blanket.I decided to give this one a try since it comes in bright pretty colors, is made in France from virgin wool and has the satin trim which was standard with most vintage wool blankets. Sadly they were out of the Maise in a full/queen when I ordered so I ordered the Doe. It's a beautiful blanket, soft and not itchy, and the color is quite nice. The verdict: We were able to turn the heat down a couple more degrees and keep warm. Not only is is extra comfy, it's breathable and my fiance actually kept it over him the whole night! He said he really likes it! If I had the budget and it became available I'd buy it in the Maise, too.(Someone mentioned an odor in their review. When I first opened it there was a slight wool smell, but no chemical smells whatsoever and the scent faded quickly.)

Real Wool, No Nonsense, Old Fashioned Blanket.
I bought this to replace a Swedish “health blanket” that I remember keeping me warm back in high school days (nights, actually) a thousand years ago. (We needed warm blankets in my house because my dad cranked down the thermostat.) I kept it all these decades, bunchy and misshapen, because it had beautiful thick glossy not-very-scratchy wool. And it was toasty warm.Eventually I decided to replace it-not because it had worn out but because it was too twisty to cover a bed. Remembering how it looked in it’s glory days, I set out to find the exact same blanket it was then.Of course we now live in the era of the down comforter. Sweden has given up, either on health or on wool, which one I’m not sure, so “health blankets” are no longer a thing. There are wool blankets to be found, but they’re blends, or Hudson Bay style, or frou -frou, or sandpaper. Only one, the Poyet Motte, even came close. The wool is the same as the blanket that has been useful for more than half a century. I think it’s smooth and glossy, and almost not scratchy. Very nicely made and very warm. If I buy another, I’ll get the medium weight one because I’m not as frugal as my dad and I don’t lower the thermostat at night. But even the heavy weight isn’t uncomfortable-if you’re looking at wool blankets you know this already-because wool has a much wider comfort range than down and doesn’t get sweaty. This blanket isn’t as tightly woven as my old ideal. Still, it’s very good wool and very well made. I like it a lot. Check back for my 50 year update regarding durability and the state of the wool blanket market in 2070. See you then!

Warm and light
This blanket is very nice. It’s soft but occasionally scratchy depending how the wool fibers touch you. It’s light. It’s warm. But yes it has a smell of wool that is like a wet dog. Despite all that I am keeping it because it is well made and I like the feel. I think the smell will dissipate overtime. It’s 100% wool. I think it’s worth it. I am airing it in the sun to see it that works. The size is perfect for my full size bed. I got the twin xl. The full queen was too big for me. I didn’t want my blanket to go over to the ground d on both sides of the bed.Update: the smell did dissipate after few weeks. I do not regret my purchase.

wonderful warm heavenly in cold weather or warm
these blankets are the best bedding i have had in a long time.I have purchased 5 in a few years. i use in a layer systemalways first is high count cotton sheet then the wool, the a top cover when it is cold out.the sheet protects the wool from undue wear and if you are sensitive to the wool it protects you.these are not scratchy in my opinion.but i love the warmth in our Alaskan winter months with a light quilt on topbut in summer just a sheet and the wool provides good cover without being too hot.I am a fanatic about wool, the blanket is good quality and worth every penny. a true bargain if you compare to any produced and sold in north America.
