Fast shipment, Great speaker.....this sub performs better in a ported box. I installed my 1st 13w7 in a sealed box and blew the speaker in one week.

Best Subwoofer money can buy.
I bought this subwoofer because I am a man that looks for quality. JL Audio is American made and has always made quality products. I look for nothing but quality and paying this price is excellent compared to $1,300 it generally is sold for. I figured I would give it a shot and I was more than satisfied. I linked this up to an Alpine PDX M12 (1,200 Watt RMS) and that has worked better than anything I have ever heard. Alpine generally makes the best amplifiers. If you do everything right and don't cut corners, this is the BANG for your buck.

13W7: JL’s flagship Sound Quality sub that happens to get loud too.
JL may not like me saying this but you’ve never heard sound quality until you hear the W6 and W7 subs in an infinite baffle setup. Absolutely stunning. Much less power required to reach max output which is the same potential output as with a sealed box, less than ported.I’ll lay it out there. These are Sound Quality subs that happen to get loud and handle a lot of power. There are other subs that are cheaper and will get louder and handle more power and sound ok. There are few to none that will reach the same SPL with as little suspension, Bl, and inductance distortion as the W7. Most forgot or never knew these are sound quality subs. The old myth that “the W6 is for SQ and the W7 is for SPL” is not true. The W7 is the flagship SQ sub that gets impressively loud, and this along with the quality and some very neat engineering is what you’re paying for. I’m in love with the W6 but it’s a lesser sub in every way. It’s for those that won’t pay as much or need a shallower, lighter sub. I ran a single, pair, and a trio of 10”-13.5” W6s over the years in addition to the range of W7s and many other brands. I ran my JLs sealed, ported, band pass (surprisingly nice with the W6) and infinite baffle.JL offers enclosure size recommendations that are flat out too small (blanket statement, I know, but keep reading). They need to sell subs and a smaller enclosure is a good selling point. It also protects it mechanically from the typical idiot that throws a shit ton of power at it with no subsonic and no clue about setup. With the too small box, the sound quality and efficiency in the lower range suffers, they sound slower and sloppier and lack the really deep sub bass.My friend that heard my 13W7 infinite baffle (no box, just a battle to mount the sub on and to divide and partially seal the trunk from the cabin) said it sounded like a pair of high end 10s in the punchliness department yet it dug incredibly deep with ease and authority with only 300w at first. It’s the best of all worlds. Give these subs some room to breathe, larger boxes, make sure they don’t hit their mechanical excursion limits due to their greater efficiency in the lower octave. Xmax (linear) is ok but xmech (physical excursion limit) is bad. The larger boxes will require less power for a given output and will sound so much tighter, deeper, just all around amazing. I would imagine fewer burned coils as well with less power required and more excursion keeping the coils cooler. The suspension (spider and surround) and motor are incredibly quiet at high excursion and only produce any noticeable noise once you’re way past being able to hear it over the music. I only know about this by playing 10hz tones free air which you can’t hear and listening to it.And no, size makes zero difference in how “quick” or “punchy” or how low a sub can go. Put an 18 in the proper sized enclosure and it’s going to sound as quick as an 8” sub, all else being equal. The 18 will just do it effortlessly and with less distortion, all else being equal. The main point is when these Sound Quality subs are installed and set up right, they will impress anyone in sound quality and how loud they can get while sounding so good. If you just want loud, you’re wasting your money on a W7. You don’t need many of the features (adding to cost) of the W7 just to get loud. Just the suspension compliance symmetry and linearity even at high excursion along with one of the flattest Bl curves over a VERY long linear stroke is absolutely amazing and in a class of its own.
