MTC 50017/91-805475A1 Engine Drive Alignment Bar Tool (Off Road Vehicle models)

I received this item and its fit was sloppy in my engine coupler (before I installed the new gimbal bearing). So I measured the "business end" and it was 6 thousandths too small. This measurement was with two calibrated micrometers. I don't know if this error will make a significant difference in the engine alignment, so I am hoping for a response from the company to this question. 6 thousandths is a large error in this age of machining, particularly for a precision alignment tool. Other reviewers have reported that the tool works but are they getting an adequate alignment?

DO NOT BUY THIS ITEM!!! It will not work for Alpha 1 Gen 2 Mercruiser, even though it states it will. It is not machined to the right diameter. It will not fit your gimbal bearing. I had to buy 6 of these tools from 6 different sellers before I found 1 that was the correct diameter. This is a big heavy tool. I use it to align my 350 Panther motor to my OMC cobra outdrive. It works perfect. Be sure to check alignment on the yearly removal and inspection of your cobra outdrive to save excess wear and tear on your u-joints and gimbal bearing.

Omc 3.0 1987 works great to align out drive a must have if you take the out drive off ..

Eventually tried to put this threw a brand new mercury replacement gimbal bearing and wouldn't even fit through that. Too bad the warranty period is so short since boating season just now started and I expected this tool to perform SMH

well made and very necessary for changing out he Gimbal bearing. would not have been able to do the job with out it
