Fast and Fun First Quilts: 18 Projects for Instant Gratification

I loved the pictures - most taken in the Pacific Northwest, a reminder of the beauty of my youth. I made one of the quilts from the book, but used different fabrics, I found the visual guide difficult to "read" for cutting the fabrics. At one point I used a jeweler's loop to see the different fabrics used in the strips, many were similar and since there wasn't a drawn out graph with A, B, C, etc. labeling it got confusing. I prefer to cut all my pieces, lay them out and then sit down to sew, I found that I needed to cut each piece as I went along. As I said the pictures are delicious and I am sure I will make some other quilts from this book, but it took some real noodling.

I read this book from cover to cover, hoping for good advice and help. I am a newbie quilter and was hoping to find both guidance and inspiration from this book. I found a limited amounts of both. I have been sewing all my life but quilting and piecing are new and challenging learned skills. this book was not what I hoped for and needed.

This is a great book! It includes projects and step-by-step directions for 18 easy to sew quilts. It would be especially helpful for beginning and intermediate quilters - but I am a more advanced quilter, and I love this book! Although not difficult her sew, these quilt patterns are perfect for creating unique quilts with novelty fabrics (wonderful for kids and babies)! Please mark if you find my review helpful. I love any quilting book that inspires me to quilt. This book does just that. I accumulated a lot of ideas from it in my notes. (I keep a quilting Journal and when I get an idea I jot it down, or I would forget and never return there again.) This book is one that I could look at the patterns and turn or move a block around or reverse them to make them my own. I don't like to copy anyone's pattern unless its in a kit.

I was happy to add this book to my Quilting library. I'm teaching myself to quilt and wanted more simple projects to look at.

This pattern book had a nice selection of patterns for people learning to quilt and for those with a little more experience. I love the fabric combinations and the instructions seem to be clear.

I bought this because it is required by our local quilt shop for any of their classes and it is much cheaper here than through the shop. The book is not the most impressive. I believe there are better patterns elsewhere!

These are quilts I actually adapt to my fabric stash and make! Inspirational photos, clear and accurate directions. I love this book and highly recommend it. If you're beyond intermediate skills, it won't offer you much, but for beginners and advanced beginners, it's worth every penny.

Arrived in good condition, properly packaged and before last suggested date. Purchased as a present for my wife who had borrowed an edition from our local library for so long that there was a queue of potential borrowers and it had to be returned. She has made several quilts so is not a beginner but found useful tips and designs she liked. My wife likes it, dare I say otherwise? ACD
