Worth the cost
These discs rip. Like others said they remove mill scale so well. They also do a great job not removing hardly any base metal. The one thing they don’t love is edges. Obviously it cuts some of the disc off so be mindful. Yes they are expensive but so are are the 10-15$ Black useless strip discs others sell.. lasts quite awhile. And time is money these sure save me from getting pelted by wire wheels.

Stainless Steel sheet metal - VERY PLEASED
For those who are tired of black scuff marks (actually, I beleive it is a stain from the chemistry of the metal), this works great. Although pricey compared to most crud removers, it has saved alot of time in making the SS cosmetically nice instead of revealing that a DIYer like me did the fabrication. Regarding the price, it looks like it will last a while - we'll see.

Restored my Blackstone
Way better than a flap disc for re-seasoning my Blackstone. Cleaned the surface up without gouging the cooktop. Also used on a small welding project.

Too expensive to use it constantly.
I'm taking a TIG welding class, and we have carbon steel coupons and they come with mill scale, it cleans the mill scale like nothing with no pressure, but this thing that cost around $16.00 just last me one class, the semester is just starting. For constant use isn't worthy. That would be $64.00 a month, by 5 months. Works good, but too expensive for what it is, the cheaper brand that probably will last the same is just $25.00 for 10 discs.

A Real Mill Scale Solution
These purple silicon carbide discs absolutely eat mill scale. I used it today fit the first time but it removed rusty mill scale nearly instantly and showed no signs of loading up. Any other disc, sander or abrasive would have been glossing over the surface by the time I finished what I did today.I'm teaching myself to weld, these were a great find. I'll still use vinegar for longer prep times, but these are a great alternative that gives instant results. For stripping steel to a clean surface I definitely recommend these.

Long lasting grinder Scotch Brite pads
I went with this product even with the pricy price tag. They do last longer and cut very well than the cheaper ones. Will continue to purchase these as needed.

Awesome rust removal discs
These are the best and fastest rust removal disks I have ever used. I have two Delta woodworking machines with cast iron tops - they had been in storage for 7 years and the East Coast humidity had put a pretty heavy layer of surface rust on them. I figured I would have to remove the tops and send them to a machine shop for precision surface grinding or milling. I saw these 3M discs on Amazon and thought what the heck what have I got to lose. I reviewed some YouTube videos demos on using these disks then moved my machines outdoors put on my mask and eye protection and went to work on the tops. Wow! Was I surprised how fast the cast iron was stripped of the rust. They shine like almost new. The secret to success is as follows. Keep very light pressure on the disk and constant movement overlapping passes. Better to make many light passes letting the disk abrasives do the work. If you follow these guide lines you will have a very shiny rust free surface that looks almost milled like with no gouges or unevenness. Do not be tempted to bear down or work heavier rust scale areas to get quick results as you will gouge and create hollows on the precision surface.Just keep moving and overlapping in many passes with light pressure - you will see disk doing the work. It does not take long at all to get perfect results. I went back over the surfaces with medium and fine cloth backed emery paper on a sanding block to polish the surface. Cleaned the entire surface with rubbing alcohol - let dry completely and then applied two coats of Johnson’s floor wax. My machine to table tops shine and allow wood to glide over a perfect surface. This was all accomplished without having to remove heavy cast iron tops or expensive machining. Highly recommend these abrasive disks for rust removal.
