Not very helpful or insightful
I should have paid attention that the book is only 40 pages. Also, the author admits "The author of this manual is not an engineer and no engineering went into this project." That about says it all for me.I guess I was expecting some deeper insights about slip roll design and engineering. There is no discussion about designing for different capacities or even the different types of slip roll.If you are a novice at metalworking, and lack sophisticated tools, you will not be able to do this project. If you are experienced, then you won't learn much from this that couldn't be gained by studying an actual slip roll.Either way, the slip roll described in this book has a capacity of approximately 22 ga., according to the author. Unless you are doing it for the 'pleasure' of building your own, buy one for around $500 and save yourself a lot of heartache. The time you spend trying to make your own isn't worth it, unless you already have a set of rollers, or access to a milling machine, or similar situation that would make this project feasible. This book would be a good deal at around $4.00.

good plan in my opinion,
I like the plan offered, in this booklet,If I build it most likely I will tweak it some to my situation, and toolsIf you do not have much for metal working tools this plan may be more than some can construct on there own but is doable if so desired, the unit will end up looking like most of the import rollers on the market today, with similar adjustments,

slip roll machine
I purchased this booklet because the picture showed a unique chain roller connection. In the book, the author stated that the idea didn't work very well. The book has a fair amount of detail and illustrations. Some parts are more complex than neccessary. The plan is almost identical to one you can get for free off of the internet, but without as many errors in the dimensions plus more detail.

but it is otherwise a good build.
am building this first. it is going well. I had the ends water jet cut. I used sch 80 pipe, and have having to finesse the roll assembly because the hubs don't plug in.. but it is otherwise a good build.

Good starting pont
I didn't follow the plans precisely but it gave me the basis of a design and gave me the confidence to proceed. Well worth the money.
