Great for quails and baby chicks
We raise alot of chicks. We hatch yearly and have a lot of chicks at a time. These are great for baby chicks and even quails. It's crazy to think they can drown in their waterer but it Definitely happens. These are slanted so even if they fall asleep they don't get in the water enough to drown. They figure them out quickly and they are very affordable. Very sturdy. I break those ones from TSC and feed stores regularly. These are thick plastic that you are not going to break easily.

I feel dumb (there are two sides to the base!!!)
UPDATE:I feel dumb. I thought there was only one side to the base and that 90% of the water was supposed to just splash out with every fill. Well, nah. There are TWO options and the liquid side works as expected without water loss.Ideal for our baby ducky. You need to fill the RESERVOIR to the tip top to avoid all of the water escaping when you invert it over for use. The water loss surprised me and I would recommend putting it together over a large sink, bathtub, or outdoors.

Just perfect size for newly hatched chicks.
These are perfect for new chicks. I have several waterers and have to put marbles in them to keep chicks from falling in and drowning. These are he right side, the trough is small enough to keep the chicks from falling in and large enough they all found the water right away. It holds about a quart of water and doesn't get quite so much bedding into the water. The flip side is just right for food, keeping the chicks from kicking it all out of the feeder.

Great!
These are great and work as stated. Just be careful of which side of the lid you twist on , as one side of the lid is to be used for food, and the other water. If you use the food side by mistake the water will spill out when you turn the waterer/feeder over to be used. Another thing is they don’t have the cute chick designs on the outside of them like the photos have. The containers just look like empty peanut butter jars.

A little too deep for newborn chicks, likely that they would fall in and drown.
I haven’t used it yet, but I have lived on a farm with chickens my entire life and I can say that I won’t put this in with newborn chicks. Once they are a week old, or potentially 2 weeks old for Bantu chickens, it would work fine as a waterer. But it is too deep for newborn chicks with the water area narrowing toward the bottom. I have had waterers like that previously and newborn checks fall in and drown because they go in head first and get stuck. I never tried this one with newborn chicks because of my experiences previously with this so maybe this one is different. But in my experience you need a flat shallow base for newborn chicks, which this one is not. I gave it four stars yet because I think it will be ideal for chicks once they grow out of the stage of drowning in the water dish, but I highly recommend never to put this in with very younge chicks. I have had it end tragically for one or two every time in the past with dishes that are shaped like this one.

It will not pour out, where you're pet drinks from.
I really like this water feeder for our chicken Deborah in her pet play pen, now I want to get the water feeder/water fountain ⛲️, when our daughter got the water holder unscrewed I added water tightened it turned it over it filled it just enough n it did not overflowed.

Not as good as I had hoped for but still worth it.
I liked them for a day and still use them on occasion for moving chicks around from one brooder to the other. But the slot that allows water to the drinking trough portion is just a little to narrow and just one piece of wood chip stuck in there will stop the water from draining into the drinking circle for the chicks. But if you monitor it for them it will do fine because it is nice and small for holding chicks in a smaller box or something for a while.

Feeder/Waterer is so handy.
These little feed/waterers are so handy. They work with water or food. I use them to keep my free-range new mommas hydrated. They can be anywhere on the ranch and the new chicks need a drink. So I can plop one down full of water near them and they chicks go to town. They are perfect for my tiny chicks.
