A great bit of fun nostalgia
This was a wonderful romp through my childhood memories of Sgt. Rock. Well worth the price for those who want to relive their excitement of getting ahold of a new issue! Recommended.Peter L. to at least be in Easy Company? Couldn't believe how many of these stories ...
Are you kidding me??????? Who as a young boy growing up in the early 60's didn't want to, if not BE Sgt. Rock, to at least be in Easy Company? Couldn't believe how many of these stories I still remembered after 50 years. I purchased this book for my grandson, and if he enjoys it half as much as I did at his age, I'll be getting Vols. 1,2, and 3 for him. EXCELLENT all around!

ROCK ROCKS! KUBERT SHINES!
The only "war" comic I ever really paid attention towas OUR ARMY AT WAR, featuring the indomitableSgt. Rock. The main reason, of course, were the stories - drawn by thebrilliant Joe Kubert from the scripts of Robert Kanigher. These were truly different tales of heroism and daringin battle. The amazing thing is that as the years passedKubert and Kanigher continued to ratchet up the quality, providingmore unique, different, even oddball stories.SGT. ROCK ARCHIVES (Volume 4) features stories fromOAAW 126-137 (with their wonderful covers, soon to becomescrapbook special), plus a surprise SHOWCASE 45 battle epic. Each story is exciting (but the truly classic ones loomin the future). We have Rock and his "combat happy Joes ofEasy Company" battling tanks, fighter planes and fanaticalNaziis in every kind of locale and weather.Who can resist our hero going into battle toting a toddler inhis backpack ("Young Soldiers Never Cry" - OAAW 132),wherein a hygenically studious Rock squirts milk from a cow into his canteen? There's also "The End of Easy Company" (it was always "ending")and the cleverly told "The Four Faces of Rock" - OAAW 127.Glorious color, impossible action: this was long beforethe anti-war sentiments of the sixties crept into the strip. And as good as these stories are, the next Rock Archive willfeature "The Fighting Guns of Easy" (a tale narrated by theactual weapons of Easy). And we can look forward to Rock's first encounter with the Iron Major, which still sends chills down my ramrod spine. As Rock, puffing on acig, might growl: "So - you hookin' up with Easy?"

Keep these books coming, DC!
I grew up on Sgt Rock, and these first four editions pre-date the comics that I read out of my brother's collection (when he wasn't looking, of course). Volume five will feature the earliest Rock comics that I originally read, so as fun as these first four editions are, I can't wait to experience old memories again with the men of Easy Company! Keep these books coming, DC! And good job! Highly recommended!

Great DC archives series
Another great volume of Our Army at War issues from the 60's - reprinted beautifully in color. Only disappointment was that this volume covered less issues then the prior volumes. Still - it's easier than buying all the old issues on eBay (and it should last longer!). Hope DC continues to issue other volumes of Sgt Rock archives in the future....

Didn't think I'd ever see these great comics again
Just as described, and in prefect condition. The prints within the book are just as I remember them as a small kid.

A Master Work
Others seem to like books 2-3 best, yet Sgt. Rock peaks in Book 4. The stories are a bit tighter, if not with some repeats, and the artwork advances as well. This comic was created as a testament to the real-life superheroes who, for many of us of my generation, masqueraded as mere fathers. For that, it is a great historical work and perhaps a masterpiece of comic art and design. The Sgt. Rock collection belongs in every war or military historians library, amateur or professional.

SGT Rock book with lots of comics.
Excellent value for the money, you get many comics all in one book, also all IN COLOR. Our Army at War issues #126-139, would recommend. (if you can find one, as this is very rare)
