I love the fact that he is honest about the struggles and mistakes made as a learner himself. Also feel that he gives a lot of different resources and learning techniques that might help you so you could identify what works for you. I totally recommend this book to anybody that watches to learn not just Japanese but any language because it applies to any language

I purchased this for my teenage son who is into anime and manga. He has been interested in learning Japanese and has found this book to be useful when paired with apps.

This book is a great first step for those wanting to pick up Japanese, especially if they are English speakers. Most just by a text book want go from there. But this book helps you to understanding how to learn and why.

Definitely changed the way learn Japanese. The book was great and truly opened my eyes on how I view learning a new langue.

Yeah, um......yeah. I got this because my son wanted to learn Japanese. It did not have much to do with anime or manga. Just a basic book like all the rest. He lost interest after opening it once. I tried to read through it and became bored and impatient. Not so helpful.

Got this for my son, he loved it.

So this book will in no way, shape, or form get you anywhere near fluency. It does not give vocabulary, scentence structure, or any other language learning essentials. It is not designed to teach you anything about Japanese. It does have tips on how you can use other learning tools more effectiely, however these tips are mostly just how the tools themselves say they should be used. Where does the anime and manga come in? Watch or read without subtitles. Yeah. If it billed itself as study tips or ways to improve your language learning I eould probably up it to three stars, but that is not what they are selling.

The book uses common mnemonic devices to help someone learn a new language and it’s always nice to reinforce and strengthen those techniques. I highly recommend giving this book a read if you’re trying to learn Japanese or any language as it’s techniques can be implemented in any language.
