Spring Lyre, Pentatonic, 7 String, Cherry w/ Storage Bag

Beautifully hand crafted instrument. The sound is enchanting. It can be a little hard to tune at first as the slightest movement of the tuning key changes the tuning quite a bit. After a while it gets a easier to tune and stays in tune for longer. My baby boy loves to listed to it. It puts me in a peaceful state of mind.

I hate this thing! Finally gave up on it. Yes, it has a nice tone, but after 3 weeks of constant tuning, it still won't hold a tune. I think it should by now. The strings should be settled in. It is also difficult to tune. The wrench slips, and the tuners are either too loose or too tight. I have been a musician for over 40 years, and I am not totally clueless. But this thing is not the soothing toy I hoped it would be.

I love this little instrument. It is beautifully made and feels great in my hands. My granddaughter loves it too. I tuned it when it first arrived and it has stayed in tune. I can't believe how I got it, I was expecting to arrive sometime this week, but I got it only 3 days after I ordered it.

Before the days of microphones, music was played in a very intimate way. And, music was for the purpose to enrich one's soul (not ravage it the way a lot of modern /popular music does). No wonder music and poetry was included as part of the original Olympics -- for only a well tempered instrument (the body operated by the mind) could write real poetry or play real music necessary for Upliftment. This lyre is made so that it can inspire teach one's minds to calm down and go INward, in order to re-discover one's "sense" of Real Self.

I am so pleased with this Lyre. It's beautifully made by an American family. It comes in a lovely wool case, with extra strings and great instructions.
