Having a hard time opening the battery compartment

Just got the camera today and I get you to need to make it so no water gets inside but should make it so the little button LOCKS, while you open it up trying to keep the switch in the DOWN position, (DOWN not LEFT as the manual saysNext version of this make it easier to open up the battery compartmentWatch the video and still can't figure out how to open up the battery compartmentHow can I use the camera if I cannot even open it to charge the battery?
