Bought in 2019 & in 2025. It Feels Pretty Much the Same. That's Exactly What I Wanted.
I bought this to replace my broken original in September of 2025. I destroyed the controller they give you, but the headphones are fine. These do the job just fine. I compared the sound quality of my old headphones and these ones and I cannot tell the difference, granted I cannot test the old controller anymore. You see I originally ordered this in July of 2019. That model, made under the old company, held up just fine. It was my favorite and had an amazing sound to it, especially when you activated its surround sound mode. Since the company was bought by HP I was skeptical about what I'd get this time. The new model is made with less materials, feels lighter, and doesn't extend as far as the old one. It still fits me fine though. I am someone with a big head and so that was a big reason I loved the HyperX Cloud II's design. The mic is still very low, like the original manufacturer's. I recommend using a program like Voicemeter to boost your gain on it. When you do that it works perfectly. In the end it feels like the same exact headphones. So if you are an owner of the old model that is near the end of its life and want another, then this is a safe purchase. I am happy with this and hope it will last me another 6 years or more. It's a great sound, a great value, and pretty long lasting.

Great, reasonably-priced headset for gaming
TL;DR Review: My previous headset broke, so I chose this one after reading/watching reviews. Comfort and durability are excellent, so far. The mic is good enough for calls and gaming. Initially, I was not impressed with the sound of the headphones (sounded like a low bitrate MP3), but then I realized I needed to plug the headset into my motherboard's USB ports rather than the front panel ports. I am now very happy with this headset and would recommend it to anyone looking for a reasonably-priced, comfortable gaming headset. (Owned for 5 months as of 2/27/16) Full Review: I purchased these to replace my Plantronics Gamecom 780 headset. The Gamecom headset had a 100% plastic headband which snapped one month after the warranty period ended. Apologies in advance, but I sometimes will compare the Cloud II to the Gamecom 780 in this review because its my only point of reference, and I felt like the Gamecom was an excellent headset prior to breakage. Overall, the Cloud II's have been a worthy replacement, and even an upgrade in many respects, but there are some areas where the Gamecom was better. After looking at YouTube, WireCutter, and Amazon reviews, I settled on the HyperX Cloud II gaming headset. Almost everyone raved about their durability, comfort, and sound. I know a headphone + stand mic combo can provide a better overall experience, but I didn't feel like spending the ~$200 on that combo just yet. Fit & Finish After they arrived, my initial impression of this headset was that it was very high quality. The fake leather on the earcups and the headband is nice and soft, and the stitching on the headband looks good and provides a nice red accent. The red brushed metal on the exposed parts of the frame is also a nice touch. The microphone detaches and reattaches very easily, although I do prefer a flip-up microphone like on the Gamecom 780. However, that's just a preference and shouldn't have any bearing on this review. As for fit, I have a larger head (I'm 6'2", 215 lbs, and probably have a 7-3/8" hat size) and these fit very comfortably. I've worn them for hours while gaming and never felt like the clamping pressure was too hard. Also, they don't make my head/ears sweat or anything like that. The pads on the earcups provide a comfortable seal around my ears that blocks out a lot of noise, which can be a pro and a con sometimes. Durability After 5 months of daily use... so far, so good. I recently purchased a hook so I can hang these up rather than just setting them on my desk or on the floor, so hopefully that increases the Cloud II's longevity, but I still don't feel like these will break as easily as the Gamecom 780's. Unless they get stepped on by an elephant or run over by my truck, I don't think the headband on the Cloud II's will be snapping after 13 months like the Gamecoms. The drivers in the headphones are still going strong, and the mic still sounds good. I will update if anything changes. Headphone Sound Quality Honestly, the headphones didn't blow me away at first. There was a noticeable difference from the Gamecom 780's in this regard. I felt like the sound on the 780's was awesome for their ~$60 price tag, but the Cloud II's just didn't sound as good. It was like listening to 320 kbps vs. 128 kbps MP3. There was a "graininess" (my terminology, sorry) to all sound - gaming, movies, and calls - that was especially noticeable at low volume. After a couple months, it was annoying me so much that I was about ready to buy a good pair of headphones and separate mic. Then I had an epiphany. I always plug my headset (780 or the Clouds) into my front USB ports (Fractal Define R4 case) because sometimes I like to unplug them and listen to movies/podcasts through my speakers. I had tried both the USB 3.0 and 2.0 ports with the Cloud II's, and the sound was the same on both. One day, I realized I had never plugged them directly into my motherboard's USB ports (Gigabyte Z170X-UD5). As soon as I did, I noticed an immediate difference in the sound quality. The "graininess" went away and I'm now very happy with the sound quality. I now run a USB extension cable from the back of my computer so I can still easily unplug the headset as needed, and the USB extension doesn't add any of the noise/bit-rate issues I was experiencing before. Virtual 7.1 Surround Quality I'm really not impressed by the virtual surround performance of the Cloud II's. I felt like the Gamecom 780's had a great virtual surround, or at least better than the Cloud II's. With the Gamecom, I could easily tell when/where an enemy was approaching me in FPS games. With the Cloud II's, I can hear an enemy approaching, but it's a lot tougher to tell where they're coming from. I don't think it's enough of a disappointment to lose a star though, since I can try other virtual surround software (Razer) and bypass the "built-in" virtual surround of the Cloud II's. Microphone Quality The microphone is great for voice chat during games (Discord ftw) and Hangouts calls, but I would get a separate microphone if I was doing anything more than that. I don't stream to YouTube or Twitch. I don't record podcasts. I only use it to talk with my friends. They've all told me that it sounds clear and noise-free. If and when I do decide to do more, I'll pick up a Blue Yeti or Audio-Technica ATR-2100 which I know will have a much more professional and richer sound quality at a reasonable price, but I'm not to that point yet. For a ~$99 headset, the microphone is pretty good. Conclusion I would definitely recommend this headset to anyone looking for something that has great quality and is reasonably priced. I'd also recommend plugging it into your motherboard vs. the front panel USB ports to avoid any sound issues. The fit and finish are pretty nice, and it definitely feels more durable than my previous headset. The sound quality is great, but the 7.1 virtual surround experience is not very dependable. The microphone is good for gaming and voice calls, but look for a standalone mic if you're doing anything more than that. It's a great headset that does its job admirably, and I don't think you'll find better value for the price.

A Reliable and Comfortable Wireless Headset
I've been extremely impressed with the HyperX Cloud 2 headset. It's a fantastic product, and I especially appreciate its performance when it comes to battery life and charging. The battery on this headset is truly solid. I can go for a very long time without needing to charge it, which is perfect for extended gaming sessions or just general use throughout the day. When it does need a charge, it gets a full battery remarkably fast. A huge bonus is that you can continue to use the headset while it's charging without any audio or mic interference, which is a lifesaver. While the sound quality is great on its own, it really shines when you pair it with a spatial audio enhancement like Dolby Atmos. This combination elevates the sound experience, giving you a much more immersive and directional audio experience in games and movies. Overall, the HyperX Cloud 2 is a reliable, high-quality wireless headset that I would highly recommend, especially for anyone looking for a long-lasting battery and the convenience of being able to use it while it charges.

YES, YES YOU WANT THESE.
Today my 2nd pair arrived... The picture you see is the 1st pair I owned and why these are not getting a 5 out of 5 but I will 100% tell you to still buy them. Let's play good bad and ugly. -THE GOOD- SOUND - great, these were perfect for the footsteps of fellow tarkov tryhards giving you enough clarity to know if it was left right up down or middle. The base, mid, and highs are all good. If your a gamer the 53mm drivers are more than adequate to rattle your ears. I like the rest of you, want the very best I can get for my dollar and these really perform well. MIC - it's actually not that bad. The noise cancellation does a good enough job that it will miss about 90% of ambient noises in the room. From Rust players making the mistake of thinking I was a YouTube content maker because of the clarity and smooth output that the mic picks up. It's not a 500 dollar mic but it's way better than everything in its price range. COMFORT- Now I'm not telling you to touch grass, but please do so.....BUT for the rest of us having extended periods of playtime we all can agree that ear aches, head aches, hot spots, pinching, and all around suckyness of discomfort around your head will wreck any play session. Having a adult large dome I was limited in what really worked and what I tested, but out of around 7 headsets these are hands down the most comfy for long periods, the faux leather is soft, the band around your head is light and it cups around your ears are soft as can be. Noise suppression from the outside is also great keeping real life from ever being able to let you know it's still there. 👌 BATTERY - Just like a new phone you will have awe aspiring battery life at the start but what about by the end of the life cycle? Still not bad actually. With a full charge it still can put out around 12 hours before needing a charge. Charging still is fast and takes maybe 20 minutes to go from 0 to 100%. If you just plug it in at the end of the night you will never worry about it dying. WIRELESS RANGE - Now obviously this is dependent on how many walls and interference and whatnot, but the cloud II's were able to go at least 6 feet further than the turtle beachs top model with less distortion. I could go anywhere in my house and even 75 feet away outside and still send and receive clearly. -THE BAD- So those plastic pieces of junk holding those red frames in. As you saw in the photos both sides were broken and I know why exactly they failed. For all you with kids, significant others or anytime your keeping an ear out which means one headphone is pulled usually off right? Well the design flaw is when you add just that little bit of flex the plastic housing holding it in eventually is going to snap. Now believe me that I 100% have dropped these countless times, pulled on them, used them, out the set through its paces that any reasonable consumer would. And for what it's worth I'm not surprised these failed after 2.5 years. Can't really be that mad, but something to be aware of. MUTE BUTTON - The button finally failed which was the end result of maybe pressing it a few thousand times. Just quit the other day giving me that last reason to ditch this old pair. - THE UGLY- there is not really I can hate on this thing in the looks dept. Some people want the rgb experience in their face and ears beaming from their headset, I would rather have something where my money goes to better drivers, better noise cancellation and weight reduction...they nailed all that in these. Why did I purchase again? 2.5 years of abuse, great sound, nice mic, wireless, price to my door was $114.00 which is phenomenal at its price. I've got 260 dollar headsets in the box now because I'm sticking with these. Maybe they addressed the plastic retainers in the cloud III but at 164.00 I'm kinda broke ATM and these I know for a fact work just fine. Stop looking, get them. You will not be disappointed.

Incredible headset for an incredible price
This headset is pretty great, I have just finished testing it on a PS4, XB1, and a desktop pc. Here is what I can tell you about my experience. First, the packaging is superb and upon opening this headset, it simply oozes with quality. As others have stated, the build quality is fantastic and there are plenty of extras to make this a very high value purchase for the price. The second big thing is the sheer comfort of this headset. I am wearing it now because it is so comfortable. Kingston also gives you the choice of leatherette or a plush type padding to switch out with. Now for the third big important portion for most, how the headset sounds. Before I write that up, I want to clarify that I have a Microsoft Stereo headset, Turtle Beach PX4's (with optical pass-through), Sony Gold wireless headset, and a pair of Turtle Beach x12's with as DSS optical connection. I first tested this on my PS4 and this works with the usb connection to the console or the direct small plug into the controller. Both connections performed the same because the 7.1 DAC will not work on the PS4, but do not let that deter you from using this headset on your console of choice. The Cloud II is simply better than anything Sony or Microsoft branded not to mention any of the Turtle Beach headsets I own. The Cloud headset sounded really good on the PS4 with great mid and good bass, but the bass in my opinion is a tad bit low. To get the most out of the headset I went into settings/devices and manually adjusted the volume. For the Xbox One, I simply fired up Forza Horizon 2 and used the headset adapter. The sound is much cleaner than the Microsoft Stereo Headset and I can hear more detail than with previous headsets. As for the pc, the sound is great as well. I went into a session of Neverwinter because I enjoy the music and I created a character to test the 7.1 DAC which worked really well, but I could live without the DAC and go with my Asus Xonar instead. Overall, you are not going to find a better value with this versatility. I am a little disappointed that Microsoft does not allow a USB headset connection, but I look forward to testing the party chat with the microphone. I have not gotten a chance to test that portion yet. Of all my owned headsets, the only one that is close is the Sony Gold and the Cloud II in my opinion is much better. This has to be one of the best gaming headsets of 2015. Sound is subjective to each person, so for my needs and versatility it was a must buy as I plan on gaming on all three platforms this year. I also noticed a one star rating complaining about this headset not working as a wireless headset. It goes without saying that this is a wired headset, so please disregard one star reviews about this great headset. I hope you enjoy this product as much as I am! Happy gaming in 2015! Edit:February 25, 2015 I want to give my impressions after using this product heavily. I have used the DAC (wired usb soundcard) with the Elder Scrolls Online and Neverwinter on PC with good results. The simulated sound is more than adequate to bypass some onboard sound solutions. I play mmorpg's a lot on pc, so that is where I am leveraging my experience. I have not incurred any hissing or popping that has been reported. I run Windows 7(x64) and I do not run Win 8 at this time. I connected this DAC to the PS4 and I also used the small plug into the controller and I did not hear any pops or hissing sounds either way. My negative is again, with Microsoft because this headset performs poorly with the headset adapter, as does most third party headsets with the XB1 console. Again, I stand by my review with this being a must buy for versatility on multiple platforms. If your only buying point is for a console, then I would look carefully as this DAC (7.1 usb soundcard) cannot be used on both the XB1 and PS4. My use is all three platforms(XB1, PS4, and PC) and so far I love this as my main headset for all three. Unless your going to spend 200+ you can forget about getting a headset with this quality. I just gamed a 12 hour session on ESO (Elder Scrolls Online) and the comfort is top notch.

repeat customer
Bought my first HyperX headset in 2016. Re-ordered it in 2020. Re-ordering my third on now. This is a fantastic headset, great sound, lightweight, comfortable. The only reason I re-order new headsets: the thin plastic skin over the padding breaks down and peels off, leaving you covered with little shreds of plastic. I haven't been able to find replacement padding. The padding itself is still in good shape, and the electronics work fine. If you want something that blocks out external noise, this is a bit lacking, but once the game or stereo sound is on, the quality is good and external sounds are not so intrusive. The size is adjustable, and aside from the shredding issue, this headset is well made and retains its functionality over the long term. Some headsets lose their ability to hold an adjustment over time, but not this one. If you know how to sew, you could make your own little cover and keep this thing in service.

Super comfortable
I’ve been using the Cloud 2 Wired for a while now and honestly they’re just super comfortable. The memory foam ear cups and soft headband make long gaming or work sessions painless — no pressure on your ears or head. Sound is solid, the bass is punchy without being overwhelming, and mids and highs are really clear. The mic works great too, people say you come through clean in calls or Discord. Build feels really sturdy but it’s still light, doesn’t feel bulky at all. Cable can get a little annoying sometimes, but that’s really the only minor gripe. Overall, they’re still one of the best wired headsets I’ve used, and for the price they’re a solid buy.

Is the HP-redesigned Cloud II headset different than Kingston, or still worth it in 2025?
My experience: Great packaging, great feel, nice weight, feels sturdy. Plugged it in via. USB into my computer, played different types of music, sounded terrible. It was muffled, sounded low quality, and instantly made me want to return it. I was comparing this to my old HyperX Stinger wired, which sounded better tenfold in every aspect. I had to look online for a little while, and I tried every possible forum and other peoples' experiences to troubleshoot this issue, because I thought HyperX was still making good headsets with HP. I launched r6 and cs2, all of which sounded muffled and terrible compared to any other headset I've used, such as the HyperX Stinger, which I had got in 2018 (owned by Kingston instead of HP), and used up until 2025. After trying to update audio drivers, try different ports, try using it without the 7.1 surround, it still sounded bad. I ended up uninstalling the HyperX audio drivers in device manager, and it sounded normal again. The 7.1 surround feature is useless if you play fps games. I tried it, and literally just sounds like audio-mush. All footsteps in r6 were blended, with some isolation for gadget placement and reinforcing. The audio is much better without 7.1 surround off. These headphones are still very comfortable with the leather cushions, and is great with blocking out external noise. The hassle I had to go through to get the audio closer to right was frustrating and initially led me to think the quality of this brand went to the dump. Thankfully, one of the handful of solutions I've found online worked, and the audio is better. After uninstalling and reinstalling the HyperX audio drivers, the bass was conveyed well, and footsteps are conveyed accurately. Music sounds great. Initally, you'd think it's plug and play with everything perfect from the get-go, as with any other headphone. Not this one, as I might've just gotten a dud. Nevertheless, these headphones are still good quality, and the audio is good. I got these on Black Friday on sale for 50 bucks, so I'm not that bothered. For the original price, go look at studio headphones.
