Teknetics LIBERATOR Metal Detector, Black

So, I waited for a while to do the review on this. I have been using it daily. The features listed are all true.I went down that rabbit hole starting with "what is the best metal detector?" and stayed there for a long time. The truth is you just have to get one and start using it. There are so many variables and nuances that come with any detector. Basically, any detector will get you started. I really like this one and will use it for a long time. I see no reason why I would have to upgrade. I have found nails 12 inches under the dirt. The key is learning hands on. Watching you tube videos helps, but this is a skill that is learned hands on. The sounds, settings and technique all need to be perfected by doing. This detector is very light, has very good battery life and most importantly, it works great.Buy this detector, a cheap metal detecting spade, and a cheap pin pointer and start having fun!!I have reviewed both of those items that I bought based on the lowest price and they work great. You can buy a pouch, but I just use a 5 gallon bucket. Climb out of that rabbit hole, buy this and get moving. You will not be disappointed. There is so much to learn, and so much fun to be had.

The unit came on time, fairly well packed. It was contrary - would come on when it wanted to , go off when it wanted to and would make all kinds of sounds. The battery cover had a mark on it made with a marking pen that went from the cover to the body as if to identify the unit if the buyer got it back after returning it. the battery cover was very difficult to open and the battery had to be carefully placed or it would disconnect when closing the cover. Maybe they make a good unit - this one wasn't!!

Was even better than I expected. I would recommend the Liberator to anyone.

First Texas knocked it out of the park with this one! Seven modes, three presets, three programmable, and full metal with VCO. Automatic or manual ground balance, notch, notch width, discrimination, and volume settings are all saved when you shut down. The pinpoint feature gives spot-on depth for coin sized targets. Great target separation, (for example, zinc/dime tones with a little iron tone thrown in. Skeptical, I opened a 6 inch plug and began exploring. Sure enough, after 4 nails, the zinc cent was extracted, and to my surprise, a clad dime followed! All from the same 6 inch diameter plug, around 8 inches deep, and the Liberator indicated all targets correctly!). The 11 inch DD coil is incredible! Throw in a 5 year warranty, and there is a lot to like about this detector! There are a lot of features in this detector that are normally only found in detectors costing three times as much! I currently have three metal detectors manufactured by First Texas Products, and could not be happier with the performance of these products. With that said, the Teknetics Liberator is quickly becoming my go-to machine! UPDATE!!! Nearly a year later and the Teknetics Liberator is still going strong with no problems!
