Great tool for a great price
Most of the laser boresights on the market are junk, in fact, if you look at the old reviews of the Bushnell units (which I have used in the past), it appeared that it was one of the litter. Real avid has improved the unit and completely changed the on/off switch which was terrible in the past. The new unit appears to be sturdier, and the on\off switch which is now a simple twist of the rear housing is solid. The laser is also stronger than most of the other similar priced units and actually will work outdoors. If one accepts the fact that the sight is only useful to get you on paper than it does what it should. I did not give it 5 stars only because the laser beam could be stronger but at this price that is asking a lot. This light will be used to look down the barrel of guns. So far it has done the job very good. I have tried other lights but this one works the best. A nice bright tool, but not too bright, to check firearm barrel and dark nooks. Magnet works well and allows hands free operation. I chose this unit for its magnetic ability and a positive on and off switch (no having to keep button pushed down). Totally hands free operation and lots more other uses too. Ideal for illuminating hard-to-see areas of the chamber, receiver and barrel interior. A bright white LED puts out 15,000 mcd brightness housed in a 5” flex neck that is attached to a machined brass housing. An embedded magnet allows you to attach the Bore Light to any steel component of your gun for hands free use. Uses three LR44 button cell batteries. This item was in my hands within 48 hours. The packaging was good too.

Really good!
This little bore scope has two power settings, a flexible neck and it works great. It also has a magnet so you can stick it on the side of your tool box. More than bright enough even on the low setting. I don't know how I ever managed to live with the "other" style.

It's not just a bore light
I picked this little light up to use as a bore light. It has 2 brightness settings, the first click of the on switch is the high beam, the second click is the low beam.On high it is too bright to use as a bore light, you blind yourself looking down the barrel. Low is perfect for checking a barrel. But I found another use for this light. While working on my truck tonight I needed to see a connector up along the frame and halfway behind the exhaust. The connector was in the shadows using a regular trouble light. But this little magnetic light was perfect to reach up in over the exhaust and hold on to the frame, bent the neck to angle the light just perfectly. If my dad would have had one of these when I was a kid, I wouldn't have gotten yelled at for shining the light in his eyes. I'm ordering another one for the tool box.

Quit after six months of very light use
Thought it was a great deal and had many positive reviews. Light is plenty bright and seemed like a decent bite light to start with. But had it about 6 months and used it sparingly when it started draining batteries even when off. On/off clicker started to get finicky and finally had to be held down to keep the light on. And today heated up a new battery after a few minutes of use to the point I could hardly hold it and the light quit working altogether. Looks like the little circuit board is fried. Could be great value but can’t recommend after failing to work after six months of very sparing use.

Works great
Common battery operation-two light brightness settings. Magnetic capability is handy.

Read this if yours arrives dead
The light would not turn on when I opened it. I tried to unscrew the battery cover, but it was too tight. I was going to return the light to Amazon, but tried using two pairs of pliers to open it up. That worked and I saw the three little watch batteries (LR44) inside. BUT, there was a cardboard spacer between two of them, to prevent battery drainage during shipping. A good idea, but they should have mentioned it in the instructions. Now that it works, it looks like a good item. Seems to be fairly well built and it does a nice job of lighting up gun barrels, which is why I bought it. Would have given it 5 stars if they would have told me I had to open it up and remove the cardboard insert. It is supposed to run 8 hours on a set of batteries. They are cheap to replace. A pack of ten is about $1.50 on Amazon. The magnet it strong enough to hold the light in place.
