This is about as simple as anything gets. A small red laser with some kind of refracting lens that can be tuned or adjusted simply by turning the filter over the end. I took and old USB power source for a smart phone, plugged this in and now have the most awesome night light that also preserves your night vision and just looks too cool to be true. The grand kids love it and so do I!

I really like this item. Which is unfortunate considering I only had it about 2 weeks and the little red wire connecting everything already broke. This is AFTER the main piece that connects to the USB kept coming apart, which is probably what caused the red wire to break. Of course I’ve treated it like the delicate piece it is. I’ve plugged it in at night and when I remove it, I of course pull it out from the electric port by the USB cord, and not the actual projector piece. Also while yes as I mentioned, I do like it, but it definitely does not project as far as some of these other reviews suggest, granted, it can all have to do with where the item is plugged in and pointed to. I am returning and ordering another, I’m just hoping it’ll work out better this time, cause I do like it!! It’s fun and pretty and adds that extra flair. Just cheaply made, I guess.

This little item easily can be put in your pocket and placed anywhere that has a USB port as in a television, phone charger that you're not using or in the car. It is very flexible and projects a sharp red light with about a 3 x 3' patch. It's a pretty neat novelty, ordered a 2nd one since I liked it so much. Wish they came in plain white light though. E. The media could not be loaded. I got a good price for it, but it was bright for about 3 weeks, then the lights started to fade. It is close to not working at all. I’ve only had it 3 months. I won’t buy this again.

4/30: EDIT I contacted the seller. Wow, talk about customer service. Seller offer refund/replacement within just a few minutes. I opted for replacement as it was a gift for my child.Product: well, I will try it again and hope for a smiling child (priceless).Seller: excellent. But to see my child’s eyes light up is everything these days with the challenges we all face).4/29:Plugged it into USB, saw a red pattern, then nothing. It stopped working in just that long,1 second and that was it.After reading reviews, what could go wrong? Well, a disappointed kid. His face lit up, then got a Mr. Not-so-happy-face. Umm, well kid, it’s broke from the get-go.I’d like to have a replacement but don’t want to bother returning a $10 broken thing.Can I just get another one and call it good? I’m not gonna jump thru hoops or go return it at Kohl’s.I’d like to see it work, at least. Thanks.

I wanted this for my game room. However, it will not work for my needs for several reasons...1) I would need about ten of these to actually cover the ceiling. Because, unfortunately, while the star pattern is adjustable, the throw size (how wide the pattern projects onto the surface) is not adjustable. From the floor, projecting onto the ceiling 9 feet above, the spread of the pattern is a maximum of only about 7 feet wide at the very dim outermost corners of the square.2) The pictures actually make it look a LOT better than it does with the naked eye. My camera picked up a lot more of the outside stars than I could actually see in a completely dark room. The picture I've attached is in a completely dark room, and the pattern only covers about 5 feet of what I'd say is useable pattern (easily seen with the naked eye in a completely dark room). The outside edges which covered about another foot on each side were so washed out that it was really hard to see, even in the dark. And, if you have any ambient light in the room, the projection light gets almost completely washed out.I simply expected too much of this cheap little light. I'm sure someone can find a decent use for it, but I couldn't.
