Creating Spanish Style Homes: Before & After – Techniques – Designs – Insights Unknown Binding – October 15, 2018

I LOVE THIS BOOK!! I love Spanish designed homes and would love to renovate my home someday so I am always looking for new and creative ideas. I stumbled across this book that looked a bit different than others that I had either purchased or looked at. When I decided to buy it I was buying it for the beautiful interpretation of the Spanish styles that spoke to me; creative renderings that the author was able to skillfully visualize in his head, put on paper and then masterfully create a finished product. That blew me away!!What I didn’t realize when I was buying the book was the impact it would have on me when I read it. This book hit me on a much deeper level than my initial motivation for buying it. Aside from the outside being simple, but beautifully crafted, the contents really took me by surprise. Yes, it had the incredible styles and renderings that I was expecting, but so many more gems that I was not. The book is loaded with so many ideas, all personally created and drawn by the author. So many books out there are just pictures of others work compiled by someone else to create a book. I really appreciated the level of detail that you can see in the sketches. Equally impressive is to see pictures (lots) of when the sketch becomes reality and that the author/artist is involved all the way through the process!! I have never seen that before and really gave me a true sense of the talent, passion and dedication of Jeff Doubet! WOW!!Another way this book spoke to me was how candid he was throughout the book. He writes about his personal struggles with confidence while growing up, career changes, the beautiful love story with his wife Lori, etc., all hitting me on such a personal level. It was so inspiring to read his story and reaffirm to me that everyone struggles in different ways and that you can overcome these obstacles and accomplish incredible things.I am so glad I purchased this book and will proudly display it in my home for years to come. I am so amazed at the amount of talent Jeff Doubet has – such a beautiful grasp on Spanish design, creativity and hands-on craftsmanship. His personal story was so inspiring to me as well…an added and unexpected bonus for sure!!BUY THIS BOOK, YOU WONT BE DISAPPOINTED!!!

If being physically beautiful weren’t enough, this book also gives unlimited “how to”s on a myriad of projects, from surface treatment to structural design. It’s surprising to me that it isn’t (as far as I know) being used as at least a “Trade text” or a college level intro to design and craftsmanship..

Although it’s not meant to be a reference book, the detail and quality of photos in this book are unmatched. There is a lot to take in whether you’re just enjoying photos of beautiful inspiration or whether you are looking for technique and design.

I read the glowing reviews and was excited to receive the book… It did not disappoint!! Seeing original Before and after photos of So MAny beautiful Spanish Santa Barbara style homes - And also the original sketches that were drawn to create such masterpieces… out of often generic “ranch burgers” ..was so interesting. I was blown away with how many photos the book had in it!! So much great instruction And ideas of how to design and then construct the perfect Spanish home. For anyone who loves this style of architecture…. And for anyone wanting to build a Spanish style home, this is truly a reference Bible! Thanks Jeff - I adore it!

I remember meeting Jeff one overcast morning in the early winter months of 2012. Being a local general contractor I had just started another “flip” remodeling project in a small coastal gem of a town called “Montecito” in California. During our initial demo stages on this project, I was introduced to Jeff as being the “designer” that could offer some different ideas and options for our project. Our approach was to take an average 1960’s track style home and convert it into an elaborate Spanish style custom casa. Jeff had this different energy about him. The artistic edge flowing in each of us instantly connected. Once Ego rapidly took the back seat to our initial meeting, the visions of potential began to flow. It’s been somewhat of a spiritual experience working with Jeff. It’s been like tapping into another realm of imagination and prophetically creating a reality out of his God inspired visions. Jeff began sharing ideas in a visual language that I could interpret and construct and so began our journey of working together. Fast forward several years. We’ve become close friends and together have created handfuls of stunning architectural masterpieces. We’ve also traveled together on Mission trips to build homes for the poor down in Mexico. A couple years ago Jeff had this “agitation” within his spirit that he couldn’t quite pinpoint. Over lunch one day at a small café on State Street in Santa Barbara, He spoke about the desire to create a “coffee table” book. I immediately could envision this because I worked closely with Jeff to help birth his visions into reality. I then realized his agitation was the birth pains of this new book project that needed to be released into the world. Once Jeff started his next piece of art, the coffee table book “Creating Spanish Style Homes”, his countenance mellowed and a fresh new peace radiated from him. In our lives, there are special people that cross our paths. Some for just a moment in time, others for longer seasons and for me Jeff is one of these special people. He’s an inspired, gifted, soul and special child of God. He recognizes this and has unselfishly shared his God breathed gifts with us in this phenomenal book. There is no other design reference book like it, that is so rich in Spirit as there is within the pages of Jeff Doubet’s “Creating Spanish Style Homes”, It’s a Master Piece my friend!
