I bought this in 2016 and threw it away about a month ago. The issue was that the guard started occasionally popping off mid trim, which is not good! The first pic is how I rigged it to not pop off and I even emailed WAHL about it with a suggestion on the fix. Well, after a while it would STILL pop off, even with my rigged contraption. About a month ago I picked out a replacement for it and the replacement trimmer was horrible! So, after searching all night without really finding anything I decided to order another WAHL and I was going to Gorilla Glue the guard on (the devil that I know kind of thing). Then I got the new WAHL and was so happy! They have made an alteration that has fixed the issue! If you look at the second pic close you will see, right in the middle there is a part of the guard that locks into a little gap in the shaft that makes it very secure. Now this is an absolute beast! With that fix, this is probably the best trimmer out there - it's like a tank and gets very close to every angle you have on your face to give a great trim. Good job WAHL! Now, just give me a penny for every new one sold for the tip - LOL.

OK, here's the problem. I like this trimmer and have had one for years. It died, so I tried another Wahl trimmer that I didn't like as much and it died quickly.I tracked this one down on Amazon and bought it, as I liked the previous one I owned so much. I got it and felt it was really good. Had an issue where the light never came on (my last one did), but it worked fine, so I didn't care.Now I only trim my beard once a week, so I charged it initially and used it a couple of weeks with no issues. I plugged it in the second time and forgot about it for a week until I used it again. No problems, it worked fine. Used it a few more times and plugged it in again and forgot it until I used it again, a week later. The battery is now shot. Won't hold a charge but for a few seconds. Worst part is I specifically sought this one as you're supposed to be able to use it while on the cord, but mine is so weak on the cord as to be useless.So, basically, I got maybe a half dozen uses out of it. Yes, I left it plugged in for a week at a time, twice, but really, the battery is so poor that it can't handle that? Even considering that, I'd have no problem with this model if it just worked as advertised while plugged in on the cord, but it doesn't. This is basically a cordless trimmer with a battery that needs to be nursed to survive. Not like the last one I owned, at all.Maybe I got a bad one, it's possible, since the LED light never worked once.3 stars because I love the trimmer, but can't really recommend it since half of the ones I owned have let me down.

It is not often you see a company and their product go down hill so far so fast. I used a version of this trimmer for about 50 years. The first one lasted over 20 years. The second one not as long and in 2021 they started producing garbage. They pull hair, they are noisy and the rechargeable batteries fail. I have one left that is sort of ok but I have to plug it in to 115 Volt to use it. Well, the other day, I said the heck with it and ordered a different brand, a name brand and what a difference. I can barely hear it and it cuts very well and it doesn't pull hair. So so long Wahl, you sold your last trimmer to me.
