"THE WATCH OF THE PILOTS OF THE FRENCH AIR POSTAL SERVICE Originally inspired by the spirit of the Wright brothers. The Swiss firm Zenith created this watch, a cult object for collectors, participating in the days of glory of the Aéropostale (the French air postal service) which played a very important role during the Second World War. It quickly became one of all watches made specifically for pilots, an easily recognisable icon. The story of this model begins in 1909, when Louis Blériot became the first man to fly through the English Channel from Calais, France to Dover, England, wearing only a Zenith watch, tied to his wrist. This achievement was fundamental in the development of aviation. The success made it inevitable that the name Blériot joined the history of aviation and consolidated the Zenith brand association with aviation. Zenith quickly capitalized on this association in the production of a series of on-board aircraft instruments, specifically the type 20 aircraft watch of 1939 or "aircraft watch". Since 1939 he has been on the scoreboards of numerous devices, such as the famous Caudron aircraft, for the training of French Army pilots."
