There is one divider to make two pockets. Each pocket is about four inches wide and there is a snap to close or divided each pocket. The pockets hold a cell phone and a full length pencil will stand up. There is a "button hole" in one pocket you can use to hold a short pencil.

I wear a 44 x32 in regular bibs, i ordered a pair of 46x34 carharts. the shoulder straps are very long. will they shrink too?

just from wearing bibs for the last 30 years I can tell you that, no, the straps won't shrink. they are elastic and will only stretch out over time. I've cut the straps before to whatever length is comfortable and then just sew it where it is.
