ProteusRC - WiFi Cloud Interface with email/Text alerts for Relay Contacts

I bought this to use with a Dakota Driveway Alert. Setup was a “little” tricky. Wires for this application were not included, unless you wanted to strip apart the other connector (not used) that was provided. I had other wire available. Directions were mostly clear. I did contact customer support, and they were very helpful. Got it up and running quickly after their help. Works great. For this application, I wish there was a better “form factor” to use in conjunction with the Dakota receiver, but it gets the job done.

This has worked great at notifications to our 3 phones. So that is my “Yes!” My “No!” Come from the platform used. We have 16 outdoor motion/driveway sensors and we cannot tell which motion sensor is going off. It would be nice to be able to label each sensor through the platform so that one knows which sensor has been triggered.Customer service was extremely helpful and attentive to helping me get all 16 set up. After a year of use we are now opting for something that allows us to detail each sensor. Wish this could have worked because it does work wee but you never know which sensor has been triggered if you have more than one sensor. All the messages say Proteus /Proteus Quiet. I need something that is a little more informative. I believe a software upgrade could probably improve this platform. I will hang onto them in hopes they will upgrade their software.

As others have said great and fast tech support from Proteus. I also used this with a Dakota 4000 driveway alert and RE-4K receiver. If you are trying to install, make sure to change your DIP switch settings on the back of the RE4K+ for five seconds (#6 up and #7 down). Then - very important- reprogram your receiver to the transmitter or the change will not take effect. Attach wires to the NC (normally closed) and Com (common) port on the Dakota receiver and attach to the screws on the far ends of the plug in port on the Proteus leaving the middle screw empty. Does not matter which wire goes where as long as the middle screw on the Proteus is left empty. In the Proteus settings on the app make sure the Switch Sensor is set to Normally Closed (Alarm when Open).

For me this product was a perfect solution for keeping me informed as to when somebody was using my driveway and approaching the house. I connected the Proteus unit to the Dakota 4000 driveway alert unit using Proteus’ recommended procedures. Initially Proteus would not send email or text after an alarm from Dakota. Even though Proteus’ tech support was as helpful as possible it didn’t solve the problem. I contacted Dakota Alert and they immediately identified the problem as the relay on the Dakota Alert was not staying open long enough to generate a Proteus send message. They advised me to reconfigure the dip switch number 6 to off and number 7 to on. After this reset the Dakota Alert had to be reset at the transmitter for the dip switch changes to take effect. This unit has worked flawlessly ever since and is most useful when absent from our property.

Used the Proteus RC sensor to alert me when a main feed fails at a local TV station. Took about three times to get all the settings in place, but has worked great since. Excellent value for the money.

Had some minor setup issues that Proteus quickly resolved. The support person explained some of how the device functions an added help. The text notices require your phone provider support email to text. There is an option to upgrade the service and pay for SMS. We get an email within a minute of the alarm.I have a Dakota Alert drive way alarm and noted in other reviews that 6 dip switch must set to on to increase the switch open time. Dakota assisted in noting the receiver had to be reprogrammed by reselecting the the alert sound and going to the transmitter and pushing the top bottom to complete the reprogram. Dakota helped on this step.Both first rate products.

Easy setup, very quick SMS/email with no fees

there was some issue with the unit scanning for WiFi, lap tops with Win 10 seemed to have issue, desk top and android worked ok, would purchase again

Wanted something to monitor the relay on my condensate pump, and send me a text message if it went down. This does all of that and does it well. The item is much smaller than it appears, which is good and setup was very easy. The only downside to it was price. It was more expensive than I would have liked to pay but there isn't a lot of options out there for this so it is what it is.
