BioGS 2.0 Shines In Smaller Rooms – Not for Large Rooms or Open Spaces
Overview: Excellent quality Top–notch customer service Made in Korea, not China Impressive performance – but realize that the CADR (clean air delivery rate) is lower than some other purifiers Not, repeat NOT intended for large rooms. Made for smaller rooms. I'm very impressed with the quality of this BioGS 2.0 air purifier. Online research told me that the giant South Korean air purifier company, Coway, manufactures the BioGS 2.0 and Rabbit Air engineers design the filters. That's a major plus in my book. I tend to avoid Chinese–made air purifiers if given a choice because of quality issues. Anyone who recalls the 2007 pet food recalls and animal deaths worldwide due to Chinese melamine contamination knows what I'm talking about. The BioGS 2.0 is ideal for small to moderate sized rooms. It is not intended for large rooms or "open spaces" in big houses. If you expect this air purifier to do an adequate job in a large room, you'll be disappointed. Instead, I would consider an Oransi air purifier, Alen's Breathesmart or a Blueair Classic 400, 500, or 600 series air purifier. The minute you open the box, you realize the BioGS 2.0 is a high quality product. The packaging is superb to protect what's inside. The Quickstart Guide and User Manual are easily digested because they're filled with drawings and easy-to-understand English. It should be noted here that Rabbit Air is considered to have one of the top customer service centers in the air purifier business. That says a lot. You are paying for that Los Angeles–area based service, staffed by Americans who speak English. Check Amazon's Customer Reviews for some other air purifier brands and you'll read angry remarks from frustrated customers who cannot get any help. The BioGS 2.0 is a very quiet air purifier because of its BLDC (brushless direct current) motor. Even on Level #4 or #5 it's quieter than many other brands. This is a fully automated air purifier. There's a touchscreen LED panel on top as well as a remote. Read the instruction booklet and you quickly get up to speed on how to operate the BioGS 2.0. Folks, there are plenty of electronic controls and displays (Air quality indicator, fan speed, auto mode, timer, and Negative ion on/off button) but they are very easy to learn and master. There is a four–stage filter system: a permanent pre–filter that is easily cleaned using a vacuum on low power (and washable, too), a carbon filter (apparently about a pound of carbon here), a true HEPA filter containing germicidal chemicals to help slow the growth of viruses and bacteria on the filter, and a negative ionizer which can be switched off. If you run your air purifier 24/7 as I do, Rabbit Air indicates the BioGS HEPA and charcoal filter should be replaced every 18 months. If you smoke, own pets, or have a different source of odors, you will probably need to change the charcoal filter sooner than that. Rabbit air filters are available from Amazon or directly from the company's web site. That's extremely important. If you've ever purchased a much less expensive air purifier and discovered that replacement filters are no longer produced - you know the frustration. Finally, I considered purchasing other air purifiers before choosing Rabbit Air. Sweden-based Blueair makes some excellent products but I really wanted an air purifier with a pre-filter that I can periodically clean with a vacuum. The pre-filter PROTECTS the very important HEPA and charcoal filters. Thewirecutter.com tested the Blueair Classic 503 model and it clogged with considerable dust buildup (because there's no pre–filter.) Mind you, thewirecutter.com did not choose a Rabbit Air model as its top pick – but, I believe, the BioGS 2.0 is a very good choice for smaller and moderate-sized rooms. Rabbit Air's Minus A2 air purifiers are a better option for larger rooms. Coway's Airmega line of air purifiers are excellent and remind me of Rabbit Air (especially since Coway makes the Rabbit Air units). Rabbit Air's MinusA2 air purifiers are a better choice for larger rooms. The Alen Breathesmart appears to be a top–notch contender, but research tells me it's made in China and can be quite loud. The Alen Breathesmart would be suitable for a larger room since it can clean a larger space, faster, than the BioGS 2.0. The American-made Austin Air HealthMate would appear to be a definite top contender since you turn this unit on and leave it running. (There is a knob to increase the speed of the fan and that's about it.) I would almost refer to this as the "little air purifer that could." It comes with 15 pounds of activated carbon and has been used by the Red Cross and FEMA after 9/11 and during the Porter Ranch gas leak that spewed methane into the air in southern California. But read reviews and you'll spot remarks from owners who face costly repair bills after their units stop working properly. Many companies have reduced customer care in light of rising costs. If you expect too much out of the BioGS 2.0, you’ll be disappointed. Realize that this machine is intended for smaller rooms such as bedrooms. If you have open spaces, a larger room or heavy cigarette smoke, check out IQ Air's Health Pro (this is probably the Lexus of air purifiers but is much more expensive than the BioGS 2.0), Rabbit Air’s Minus A2 models, an Airmega, an Austin Air Healthmate model, an Oransi, or a Blueair classic air purifier. Good luck.

It just WORKS!
It's been 2 months since I bought the BioGS 2.0, and I'm really happy with it so far. I live in a townhouse that is over 100 years old and could use a dusting twice a day, plus I am asthmatic who lives with a husky-shepherd mutt that I'm allergic to. I really needed something to clear up the air in my bedroom, which is a mere 87sq ft, connected to another storage room of equal size (totaling 174sq ft). - Very good sensors. If I make my bed and throw the blanket in the air, I guess there must be dust because the BioGS will kick up a level and get to work. Same if cooking smells waft by, so odor sensor works extremely well too. My room wasn't bad with odor prior to this so I can't say if it's truly great at removing smells. One should probably just clean their room and linens if something stinks in the bedroom. Pros: - Quiet on low settings, which it's on most of the time when you leave it on auto. It's easy to forget it's on. - Aesthetically beautiful. The white and the curves looks very modern and sleek; the way the functions glow and fade off is also pretty. - Well made design from a utilitarian standpoint. It is simple and easy to open, easy to clean, easy to control. Even the controller is simple and attractive. I just take off the front of the case, wipe down the dust with a microfiber cloth, take out the first two filters (prefilter & charcoal) and vacuum them. - Works well!! I have nothing but rave things to say about its effects. I no longer wake up with itchy eyes, sneezing, and coughing...which used to be a daily occurrence. You take a deep breath in my bedroom and the air is just...clean! I have kept up with taking off the cover and dusting the inside and vacuuming (on the weakest power setting) the prefilter and the charcoal filter. It's CRAZY to see all the dust stuck on the prefilter, that would otherwise be bothering my lungs. Cons: - On high setting, can be very loud, and kinda breezy. Still, that function usually does not last too long before it brings itself back down to a lower setting. - It's kind of big, but you can say this about MOST air purifiers in existence. My room is 87sq ft, all I can fit is a dresser, full-sized bed, and a doggy bed on the floor. I did not have 2ft clearance as some other reviewers suggest from the wall, however a representative of Rabbit Air that I spoke to online said it was fine to put it closer to the wall...so long as nothing is blocking its intake and outtake. So I put it on my dresser, problem solved! It's a bit big, but its functionality is very much worth it for me. None of those cons are enough to deduct a star, because it just works so well and is so well designed for me to maintain it. I have not had to replace any filters yet. At the 2 month mark, everything looks just as good as new once I vacuumed it. I expect keeping up with monthly dusting will prolong the life of my current set of filters. The high pricetag of this unit made me nervous but I am beyond pleased with it, it's nice to have a machine that just WORKS and is attractive; other air purifiers I researched were more iffy on quality control among units. So I think I paid for some peace of mind.

Works great, awesome support, very quiet
The wildfires in CA, along with my asthma and allergies, has been a perfect storm for my lungs - It's been awful and I wasn't prepared at all. This unit has made a huge difference already! When I plugged it in it registered a 4/5 air quality level (5/5 is the worst), but quickly brought it down to the 1-2 range. After not having remotely clean air for several days, I took my first few deep breaths without coughing and immediately started feeling better. I had one minor issue. A magnet on the front cover of the unit was missing, and this magnet is used to tell the unit the front cover is installed properly and it's safe to turn on. So my unit was dead on arrival. But, Rabbit provides 24/7 support. I called their number, spoke to _an actual engineer who figured out how to reproduce the problem while I was on the phone_ and had a workaround a few minutes later - a simple little fridge magnet. I already received confirmation (within a couple hours of my call) that a replacement front cover is on the way. To me, it's not about products being perfect. They rarely are. To me it's all about how a company responds when a flaw is pointed out or support is needed. Rabbit has already proven to me that they'll support their products and customers in a way that few companies do. A couple minor complaints (so you know this is a real review). The manual didn't make it obvious that you're not supposed to turn it on without the cover. But when help is a quick phone call away, it's really not a big deal. Another possible complaint (although it doesn't bother me at all) is that it does wobble a tiny bit if it's on thick carpet. Luckily the lights on it only turn on when it makes sense for them to, so you likely won't notice unless you're staring at it. I'm sure there's a way to add weight to the base or something if you really care about this kind of thing. Now, my favorite feature - it's quiet. I hate noisy equipment in my apartment. I recently bought and returned several space heaters that made too much noise. I was hesitant to even look for an air purifier after having heard others. No such issue with this. It's _quiet_ on reasonable settings. The fan is adjustable from 1-5. On 4 and 5 it's pretty annoying, but on the automatic settings (where it picks a fan speed based on how much pollution its sensors are detecting) it rarely goes into those speeds. On the most sensitive automatic setting it mostly hangs out on 1 and 2. which I barely notice. Cleaning looks easy enough, but I haven't had it long enough to need to yet. I'll update this review if I find any issues with cleaning. All in all, a great product with great customer service. If you're looking for a quiet, powerful air purifier, I highly recommend this.

You get what you pay for!
This is an excellent quality air purifier. It has energy saving features that dim the light display when you're not changing the settings. The noise of the machine on low is quieter than a whisper and when the machine is on high, it is still soft enough not to bother someone trying to sleep. (even if noise tends to bother you). Their customer service is phenomenal. They give you reminders of when you need to change your filters through email. (No, they're not annoying about it) Clean up is easy. You have to clean the pre-filter once every month (vaccum or rinse it off). You clean the carbon and the hepa filter once every three months with a vaccum. The machine gives you reminders every three months to clean these filters. You're supposed to put the front and sides of this machine 2 feet away from the wall. Don't be fooled into thinking that the back has to be 2 feet away, because it doesn't. Once you read the manual, you will find out it's just the sides and front. One of the sides of my machine is only about a foot away from my dresser, but, I don't think it's a big deal. It doesn't seem to affect the machine. The only thing it might affect is the time it takes for all the air to circulate through the purifier. One downside is the size. I wanted something more discreet, but I didn't want to pay the higher price for their more discreet machines. It's not terrible, but it is a bit bulky, so you really need to make sure you have a place picked out for it that won't look terrible and that won't be in the way. It comes with a remote control, which is handy to put next to your bed or on a table somewhere. I really enjoy the negative ions feature. It seems to give the air that fresh feeling you get when you open a window. In the winter, this feature can be much enjoyed. Especially by those that like to hibernate in the winter. Overall, I like this machine a lot. You get what you pay for, so, if you're worried about the price, then... don't be. It's worth the money. If money isn't an option, I would go for their more expensive machines, as you can get them in some really pretty designs, you can mount it on the wall, it is smaller, and not bulky.

18 Months and Running!
There are a lot of things I love about this Air filter, and I feel it was worth the investment. Aesthetically it is very nice to look at and it well engineered in may ways. The 'cloth braided' cord leave a nice classy touch, and the overall shape and interface is simplistic and modern. The filters are easy to access and clean, and the filter life indicator is a very convenient feature. After 18 months I've just replaced the HEPA and Carbon filter, and bought the filters directly from RabbitAir, they having the lowest price and free shipping. When purchasing I was concerned with noise, looks, and efficacy. As I stated, the look of this machine is unmatched from other cylinder or brick shaped filters. The settings range from a very low speed, near in audible, to a very fast turbo mode. The turbo mode is loud, but at a comfortable white-noise level; I usually keep it at this setting. A Fresh carbon filter can quickly remove the smell out of a room. If the bedroom door was left open while we were cooking in the apartment, a few minutes really helped clear out the bedroom right way. The filter cleaning reminder is set at a good interval, I have found that checking on the pre-filter a bit early is best, but still set well. The brushless motor was another strong selling point. It runs smoother, quieter, consumes less energy, and I expect it to last a lot longer. As an engineer I Adore this product and can honestly see the thought and commitment that went into the design and execution of this product. I would recommend changing the carbon filter more often, but it is not necessary. There are only two "Negative" points: The Ion feature can only be turned on with the remote, so don't lost it! There is a convenient holder int he back for it, it is honestly the one way I use the remote. Admittedly, skipping over the manual, the user interface is a bit confusing when looking at the lights. "Air quality" having 4 lights.... does that mean it's good, of that's the amount of particulates in the air? Thankfully when you remove the cover, the panel is informative and serves as a reminder. Again, "Negative" rightfully in quotes. Last note, it does a pretty good job and not getting itself dirty. During filter cleaning, there is minimal dust on the machine, and little to know near the exit. The filters have a foam gasket which help prevent the ingress of dust past the filter stages, and the inner cover gets only a minimal, small particle dusting. Pro Tip: Make sure to check on the side, there is a panel that over time a bit of dust gets accumulated.

Great air purifier. Does what it says. Convenient. Quiet.
Purchased during the Northern CA fires when air was awful. It works well. Not very noisy and senses the air quality so that you can adjust the volume of air processed. Or, you can over-ride the sensor and crank it up to maximum. The air coming out seemed “cleaner”, at least it smelled clean. This is perfect for removing large particles (animal fur/dander, air particles from air pollution/fires), but not great on smells. So, if you are hoping that this will get rid of smoke smell from your neighbor or family member, it won’t. I doubt whether any of these air filters can completely eradicate things like chemical and cigarette odors. It DOES have a charcoal filter, but it doesn’t remove really significant odors. For particles in the air that can damage your lungs, or for dander and pollen, these are large enough to get trapped in one of the 3 (or 4?) filters (including HEPA) that are included in this model, and results in much improved indoor air quality. It’s very quiet when on low, and when on high it’s slightly louder but still not particularly loud. Love the remote control as well. Great for use when in bed. It includes a timer you can set if you’d like it to shut off when you leave. Unfortunately, it is not set up to turn on/off at certain specific times like a smart thermostat does. That would be a nice option.

One of the best appliance buys I've ever made.
I've owned and used the Rabbit Air BioGS 2.0 (Model SPA-550A) for about the last 3 weeks and I can honestly state that it works extremely well in eliminating the majority of, if not all, dust, cooking odors and aerosols from the interior of my apartment (approx. 650 sf). Since I'm an allergy sufferer, I've noticed better quality air throughout my entire apartment with approximately 6 to 8 hours daily use compared to the performance of my last air purifier, which was smaller, noisy and worked only marginally well. Comparably, the Rabbit Air BioGS purifier has more features than my last air purifier, such as: remote control; automatic aerosol sensitivity control; a negative ion generator; greater area coverage; and superior low noise levels. Before purchasing the Rabbit Air unit, I completed some research of other "true HEPA" air purifiers and although the Rabbit Air unit was initially more expensive than most, daily use of the unit seems to be more efficient and cost effective, in part, through the choice of 5 automatic/manual air "cleaning" levels. I liked the fact that the manufacturer recommends changing the (relatively inexpensive) HEPA and carbon filters of the air purifier once every 18 months (for typical home use) instead of sooner compared to other brands. I would definitely recommend purchasing this air purifier.
