After his celebrated self-titled 2016 debut, Roosevelt aka Marius Lauber steps outside. While the debut album was deeply rooted in club culture and neon lit Nightmoves, his new album, entitled Young Romance, sees the 27 year-old producer embracing a new found love for bigger, bolder and sunnier pop songs - a fearless leap towards the light with songs that will further establish him as one of the most talented young artists of the day.

Fine Young Songwriter with Great Melodic Sense
Consistently good songs with strong melodies.A brilliant young German artist who should be a superstar.I was born on the 50s and grew up with melodic rock and pop, and I like thisyoung songwriter/singer/producer a whole lot.Lots of electronics in the arrangements and tons of reverb on the vocals, but thesedo not get in the way of the material, in my view.

A Re-review of "Young Romance"
I was wrong about this latest release from German indie-pop-retro-chill artist Roosevelt(Marius Lauber); I had written it off as a boring pop record with no captivating hooks or interesting melodies. Before, I felt it lacked atmosphere and originality; I thought it did not sound as creative or nearly as engaging as his first two albums. However, after really paying closer attention to it on a pair of headphones, closing my eyes, and just immersing myself in the music and lyrics, this is a really great collection of varied tracks that are still cohesive to listen to.The frenetic opening track "Take Me Back" reminds me of something Giorgio Moroder and Donna Summer, Berlin, Human League would have performed back in the day(late 70's,early 80's synth styling). It evokes that iconic I Feel Love/Don't You Want Me/ and Sex (I'm A...) influence(s) from those massive hits for said artists mentioned ! You want more of the song, but, unfortunately it clocks in at just under 3 minutes. It still works great as an intro track (as stated how Roosevelt wanted to present it in an interview he did). One track entitled "Shadows" harkens back to the days of Chic and Nile Rodgers, while another track named "Lucia" conveys and captures the vibe and essence of the one that got away through its slightly dramatic mid-tempo. Chill wave artist Washed Out is also featured on the track "Forgive" for that lush, soundscape feel. These tracks I have mentioned are certainly attention grabbing and the strongest of the bunch; They are solid. It is worth it to obtain Young Romance for those songs alone. This latest project finds Roosevelt also venturing into a few slow-tempo, ballad-like tracks that are absolutely worth taking notice of. Young Romance IS an incredible album and a revelation of Roosevelt's evolving sound and talents(the guy writes, produces, sings, plays instruments). Do not expect a rehash of his first two albums that were filled aplenty with atmosphere and exuded excellence from the get go;This is not a quick-easy/fast likeable album from the first or second listen; It will grow on you. Young Romance has a more pop and commercial energy than his previous albums (the EP "Elliot" and the self-titled album), but, it's still a solid effort. Young Romance by Roosevelt, when it finds its balance, and it does, stands remarkably well on its own.

Excellent 2nd album!
If you want to hear Roosevelt’s first album......listen to Roosevelt’s first album. As is typical with a second effort the armchair naysayers will pile on with empty cristicisms that this is not debut album 2.0 ...so be it. This is the sound of a young artist on solid footing expanding soundscapes and maturing as a musicician instead of resting on the laurels of a solid debut.

Disappointing to say the least
What a downgrade from Roosevelt's debut album. Most of the tracks will fly under the radar because they are as mediocre as they can get. This album was boring as boring can be.
