Flex Smartphone Flexible Leg Tripod

This product exceeded my expectations. It is very flexible yet sturdy, and can attach securely to just about anything (including suspending my smartphone camera from a moving ceiling fan - haha!). The ball socket that attaches the camera clamp to the base of the tripod works well, but doesn't secure as firmly as I would like. It stays in place but is able to be repositioned even when tightened as securely as it can be. Also, the finger screw that allows you to adjust the tightness of this joint is made of plastic and feels like it will break if you tighten it too hard. In any event, unless you have this mounted on something in motion/bumping it's not going to move. Overall I'm impressed, especially for the price!

I recently purchased this so that I could use my iPhone to shoot some how to videos. I love the holder as it will work with most all tripods with a standard 1/4 inch screw mount. However, the included tripod didn't seem to work well at all. I couldn't get it tight enough to hold still. The holder was fine, but it flopped around with the loose ball mount. If I could have tightened it, it would be perfect. I have other tripods and I use those. So, no major loss but it was disappointing nonetheless.

This is a great addition to anyone's set of picture taking tools. It is designed to hold smaller cameras and cell phones to create a stable base for taking pictures.There is a tripod with bendable legs, and a frame which is spring loaded to hold small, flat devices. The frame comes off and reveals a regular camera tripod thread to hold other kinds of small cameras on the simple ball head. The frame which holds the camera can also be used on a regular tripod, giving you really nice stability on a full-sized tripod.It is somewhat delicate due to its small size, and you cannot toss it around like you would a more robust pro or semi-pro tripod. You must be a little careful using it, as it can be broken without too much effort. To make it much stronger, you would have to sacrifice the light weight or compact size. That said, it is not delicate or fragile, just light weight.The bendable legs can hold the tripod tightly to a variety of poles, stakes, rails, etc., allowing one to put the tripod in a number of different orientations and positions for more solid shots.This is a great, versatile tool for improving the steadiness of phone camera pictures and videos. It is also useful for smaller pocket cameras as well.Recommended.

The ball head is too loose. A ball head is like the ball-and-socket joint of your shoulder. You loosen it and you can swivel in all directions.I have a 7.5 oz point and shoot camera and an IPhone 5. Neither camera will remain upright. The ball head tightener wing nut won't tighten enough to stabilize the ball head and the cameras just tip. I can't even think of a way to jerry rig a way around this.It worked for about 90 days.Since it's over 3 months, I'm going to have to discard it. The IPhone 5 mount that I got with it works fine.

The product is neat but cheaply made. It worked well for a while but the socket that allows the top portion to pivot cracked and allows the phone to move a lot easier. Also one 'leg' of the stand broke at the attachment point while bending the leg. Worked great for about a month.

I originally purchased this tripod so that I could take better photos (less shake, time release self portraits, group shots, etc.) but It quickly turned into the ultimate child entertainment system.Because the tripod attaches almost anywhere I can now use my iPhone as an in car entertainment system for my kid. I just wrap the legs around a head rest or conform it to be secure in a rear cup holder or even just have it securely grasp the center console arm rest. Then I pick a show from Netflix or Youtube and enjoy the lack of crankiness(I run headphones to his car seat).I really like the option to attach the iPhone mount to a normal tripod, and I have used it to attach a normal compact digital camera to the flexible legs.Overall this is a very versatile item which I recommend highly!+++UPDATE+++ 4/24/2012I have had it for 6 months and one of the legs broke at the top and it wont hold on to stuff very well. I called iStabalizer's Support and they replaced the broken tripod and shipped it for free, no questions asked. Very good customer service!

I was a little surprised when I opened box, it's smaller and lighter than I expected. There's not a lot to it. Having said that, it works fine, indoors (i.e. no wind) on a flat surface. It is considerably lighter than my HTC One so it sometimes tilts a little--not the base, the mounting attachment holding the phone--so I would not recommend trying to use it for outdoor shooting or on an uneven surface. Mounting attachment comes off easily to mount on a full size tripod.

The iStabilizer Flex Smartphone Mount and Tripod is a cool device that allows you to take steady photos and video with just about any smartphone. Out of the box you will get the tripod and mount (and that is actually all that is in the box!) The tripod has flexible legs which are rather sturdy and have a soft foamy feel to them, which allows for easy maneuverability for camera angles, in portrait, and landscape. But if you do not want to use the included tripod, the mount can be unscrewed then attached to any standard sized tripod. The mount can fit devices about 7 cm or 2.75 inches wide by pulling the spring loaded clamp.I have the Samsung Galaxy S3, and its camera has really impressed me. Until purchasing the iStabilizer, I had no way of using the Galaxy s3 to record videos. My only complaint is that the mount is not able to fit all cellphones and cases. iPhones will definitely work and other smaller smartphones will too, but check out the width of you phone and case before purchasing, just to be sure. Maybe an XL sized version to fit up to the Galaxy Note with a case would be a nice addition to the iStabilizer line-up.Overall, a great little tripod to improve your cell phone photography!

It holds all our phone styles here at home. Will only hold it horizontally, not vertically.

I needed to record some video of myself and I'd seen mini-tripods like this around so I bought it. And it works. It's compact and light so it's easy to transport and it does what it's supposed to do - hold a smartphone in place to record videos (or take photos). And doing what it's supposed to do is really all you can ask.
