Many improvements over earlier models
Though my 15+ year old model has served me well, this new one has many improvements. It is lighter, the remote range is much better, the sound seems to carry a bit better, and the beeper rhythm seems to be a bit faster in the point only mode which I like. I use it in conjunction with an old fashioned bell, so it is always in the point only mode and it is the ideal tool for that use.

Loud
It would be better with a volume control. It does work as advertised but it is so loud it scares my dog and she stops working the field. With a volume control you could at least gradually turn it up to get the dog used to the noise.

Excellent sound.. easy to use, very durable..
I use it on my hunting dog.. to keep track of him in thick grass and underbrush.. I know when he is pointing birds because the sound beep interval changes.. Invaluable for quail hunting.

Big, heavy, and LOUD
This is a very good product. Works as it should and is simple to use. The problem I have is that it is very heavy even for my 85 pound dog. When I tried it out, it scared the heck out of him. I still may use it in the future, but for now it "on the shelf." Wish they made a smaller, lighter version.

Great product. Appears very well made
Great product. Appears very well made, heavy duty, and works exactly as described. Collar is adjustable to fit all size dogs. Probably too heavy for a small dog. It is fine for my 45 lb. Lab. I don't know why people complain about it being loud; its supposed to be loud. It startled my dog at first but she quickly got used to it. The remote works well; I turn the unit on to beep whenever she goes into heavy woods so I can tell where she is.

REALLY LOUD
not really baritone like I learned in choir, and painfully loud. The dog did not react well to it, and I can imagine why- it hurt my ears. I put duct tape over the barrel and that made it the perfect volume. Worked fine since, and otherwise a fine beeper collar.

Keeps switching modes
My first baritone beeper collar lasted 15+ years until it finally fell apart. It was reliable. I've purchased 4 more but ALL of them keep switching modes. I like to run them on point only mode (only beep when the dog's on point) but they all keep switching to run/point mode. I hunt pheasants and I need to be as quiet as possible. The constant beep of the run/point mode is annoying and pushes the birds to either run or flush 80+ yrds out. I have used them on Brittanys and German Shorthairs.
