reasonable expectations were surpassed!
After having worked a few jobs where I worked with security systems I knew what to expect with a cheap system. what I expected was: grainy image, failing camera: bulky and hot running equipment. night vision of a blind man. what I received was: super clear- read licenses plates from the passing cars clear, cameras that all worked out of the box, equipment that doesn't get hotter than a playstation 2, and reasonable night vision that lets me see clearly about 100 feet. for the price I was expecting a product that would let me try the concept of video monitoring around the outside of my home. Then, if it was something our family felt has promise we'd replace the system a part at a time with higher end gear. This gear is way better than we expected and better than I could have hoped for. IT by far surpasses all of the professional systems I've ever worked with. A wonderful side note is that if there is a blind spot- these are my camera and I can adjust them. when they are work cams I just dealt with the blind spot. there is a nice feeling looking at a tv full of the area around your home and knowing it's safe. My 8 year old is in love with the ease of use of the software- she's able to switch cameras and (digitally) zoom in on the cats (click and drag a box, click inside the box). I am able to watch for ups, fedex without leaving my chair. I have used the app with it some on my tablet and it works great too- allowing standard resolution or high and viewing of all the cameras or just one at a time. It looks like the app supports multiple systems too- which will be nice because we have decided to buy a second 8 camera system and install more looking our at out neighborhood so we can keep a bit of an eye on out entire surroundings. The ease of install was great too- the only thing that could be better there is having some zipties on hand and some cable wall clasps. I had both of those things and that made it simple for me. Installing the cameras is 3 holes with a drill and 3 screws to hold them in place. I took a scrap of paper- marked the 3 holes on the paper and then took the paper up the ladder with me. I taped it on the siding- drilled my holes and that made screwing the camera in a breeze. there are only 2 lines that need connected- a power cord and a camera cord. If you can plug in a cell phone to charge- you can hook up the cameras to the cord. there is no screwing it up. I did have a bit of an issue with the quality of one of the cameras- so I contacted customer service. This was the second time I contacted customer service actually- the first time was to obtain a copy of the manual for planning purposes before my system arrived- which they were quick and awesome about btw. They were also quick and awesome trouble shooting the poor cam quality- going waaaay above and beyond what I would expect for the cost of the system. bottom line- if you're thinking about buying your first system- you can not go wrong with this one. If you have a high end system- then make sure this isn't a downgrade- or go into it with reasonable expectations. (i plan to add photos and maybe a video on a day where it's not raining- the rain just gives a gloomy look)

Great Value with a learning curve.
I would say that this camera set up is excellent for getting started. Another words you don’t own a surveillance system, and don’t have a bunch of money to throw down on a really nice one. There is a lot of value here. It comes with the full 8 cams rather than 4, the NVR has an installed HDD already, night and day vision are both good(clear for the most part, you will have to mess around with the settings on the cameras and your monitor for the first couple of days and nights to find what’s going to work for you. Could be a more clear image, but not bad either), it’s not wireless but in my case I wanted a wired system (plus the provided cables are very long, I think I’ll be able to route a camera all the way to my front lawn). They set up isn’t hard, I will say that if you do not have a basic handyman ability, it will be difficult to figure out what you need to do, you may also need a basic technology understanding as well. For me, I’m above intermediate at both. The initial set up is fairly straightforward but it reminded me of messing around with The Windows 95 comand prompts and the English translation on some parts had me laughing. I still don’t have all the cams set up after the first three days, and the four I do have I’m still fine tuning and then need to officially route cables. This is where you will struggle if you don’t know about wire management. First off I recommend that you take your time and set one camera up at a time, and perhaps not even screw it into the location, use tape or something and see how it looks and check all the angles. If you don’t like it you can move it. That’s why I’m only on 4. Then you will have to figure out how to get the wires there and how to hide them properly. For me so far, this has involved running the wires straight up to my ceiling and then through it untill it come to the exterior wall where I then drilled a 1/2 inch hole to run the wiring for a couple of cams out of. I’m going to probably use pvc to run the cable into, but that will be after I get the final locations figured out. It’s a process to get this system set up for your individual needs, but worth it and you get a lot for the price. My complaints are that I was supposed to get a sticker set that says you have cams, that’s not the biggest deal in the world because I have similar things, but I was supposed to get some. The big one though is that I’m still having problems setting up the app on my phone to view the cams from there. It keeps telling me that my email is not valid although it is, and yes I double triple and quadruple checked my spelling. So that’s annoying, but great but either way. Lastly I will say if you read this and you are confused by the set up process I described, then consider finding someone to help you before you buy, or spend a little more for a wireless system or drop cams. Like I said there was a reason I wanted wires.

Great product, good price, no support
Solid product. Installed easily and displays beautifully. For the price its fantastic. Had to get help from their support to config the app, which was really pretty simple once they explained it. They even have a desktop computer app. Edit: Not so much thrilled with their support. I've been trying for over a week to find out how to download video for the police due to an incident on our lot. We have not gotten a response via email or Messenger. The manual is sorely lacking. Last time I complained here about their missing support I got immediate responses. They only care about their ratings and product sales. What good are the products if the support is poor? Again, great product, but good luck trying to understand the manual or get help should you need it. Public safety is at risk now and they just don't care. Edit again: Still trying to get support. Great product, but good luck as you’re on your own. If you’re technically inclined you may do ok on your own but if you’re not, look elsewhere. Trying to get Amazon to remove this product from their site.

Price too good to be true
Cameras advertised as 1080p, 1920 TVL (1920x1080, 2 megapixels). As received, viewable/recordable is 1080N resolution (1080x960, 1 megapixels), or *half* what is advertised. Camera housings described as metal, IP66 weather-rated. I received plastic-housed cameras that might not even hold up to a spitting contest. I paid just over $200 for this system late-May, 2021 and for that price point I'd rate it a pretty good starter system with ease of setup and use and decent enough capabilities *for indoor use*, or casual outdoor applications like keeping track of where the dog is -- or in my case which part of the garden my chickens and ducks are destroying at the moment. As a system I'd depend on to protect my person from injury or death, not a chance (nor did I honestly expect it to be so given its low cost). Specifically, the plastic cameras are too flimsy to stand up to any abuse by would-be assailants, and the motion-detection features are a cruel joke outside at nighttime when you'd want it most. During the day when spiders and bugs aren't being attracted to the glowing-red IR LEDs, the motion detection works fine so long as you mask out any plants or other objects flapping around in the breeze. At night even with the sensitivity dialed to its minimum setting and most of the field of view masked out I would get alerts from a single camera at least every five minutes due to an insect flying past the lens, or that evening's itinerant spider setting up shop to collect the bounty of same. The system *did* help me locate two possums in the pitch-black. Under the system's built-in IR they were clearly visible and identifiable as such, but it was the ducks getting excited what let me know something was amiss, not the wolf-crying motion detection system. If you're looking for a system to do face-recognition or read a license plate, even at 1080p and the as-advertised performance of the included DVR/controller, this wouldn't be a good choice anyway at any price. Had its true features capabilities not been misrepresented in the marketing collateral I could have given it four stars for value as priced. Due to the false advertising I want to give it zero stars, but Amazon forces me to give it at least one. I have also reported the discrepancies to Amazon. Postscript: as I've been writing this, the DVR has begun power cycling itself about every five minutes (which is apparently not uncommon even in the more expensive Chinese brands). I had been planning to continue using it as a cheapo livestock monitor, but if the suggested easy remedies I've found online don't fix it, I'll have had enough and be sending it back.

They’re okay..
Pretty underwhelming cameras. The video looks good but we couldn’t get the audio to work. We purchased these a couple months ago and wanted to wait to really get used to them to give them a fair review. So, they’re overall okay but It’s kind of annoying when you wanna see something immediately on them in the app and having to wait for the app to load, sign in and load all the cameras in before you see anything. The app itself is just pretty slow. I think you can bypass some of the wait by saving username and pw details but for someone who changes their login stuff constantly for privacy reasons it’s super annoying. There is a tiny bit of lag but it’s to be expected. I think for the price it’s not bad value.

I recommend the security system to everyone. Very professional tech support
They're patient and will make sure you geet the help and support you need. Awesome system. Thanks XVIM . I'm glad I purchased it. The technical support person who took time and patience with me to instruct me step by step on everything. Clear vision day and night plus mobile app is very timely with the push notifications. I definitely recommend this outdoors security camera system for peace of mind and remote viewing when you're away from home. Liu Jian Xiong took time to show me everything I needed to know and instructions were so easy to follow from the diagram presented to me. Follow up with Liu Jian Xiong tomorrow for more information help and support. Thank you for the opportunity to have a safe environment . The FACE RECOGNITION is a bonus but I have to get used to the Playback because I think it has military time but that's ok. My Brother is very interested in purchasing the same exact system for his home and the price is very reasonable compared to the awesome security surveillance. Again this is a must have for 24/7 security

XVIM security camera system
The XVIM security camera system is very nice because it works without any Internet or cellular service. This is great for rural areas. The customer service from the company is also great. My hard drive went bad after a few years and they gave me a link to directly by another one. They were very helpful. They have been so good that I have purchased two more systems for other homes.
