Best Label Maker Ever
I bought this in hopes of labeling some boxes to better organize my storage and this has exceeded my expectations. There is a lot of options in font size, color, style, and character options. It's quick and easy to print and sticks on pretty well. After using the super old ones that you spun to a digitalized version, it's such a wonderful leap in technology.

This is life changing
I've never had a label maker at home before, but this device changed my life. Adapters now have a name so I can know what to unplug, or even find buried in a box and know what it should be for. My servers have their hostnames and ip addresses on them. So many things can be labeled and organized and my ADHD brain finds it amazing. This printer supports many different types of cartridges, though I've only used the black on white ones so far. The major improvement of this one, over the brother label printers I've seen, is that it is not wasteful of your tape. Brother printers put out like 2in on at least one side of the label. This one, with the default mode set to "dynamic" results in less than a quarter inch of unused tape.A really cool feature is the ability to connect it to a computer. It comes with software for windows and Mac, but there is no official support for Linux. However, I was able to find a python library that can handle the protocol. That library isn't for this device, so the auto detection didn't work for me. I looked through the configuration options for the library and I told it the direct path to the device. From there is was able to use the bitmap printing feature, in addition to just print text straight from the computer. The bitmap printing supports QR codes, barcodes, and apparently even small resolution images (though I haven't tested the last one). I also didn't try using a different font, but that's possible too.The rechargeable battery is a godsend, especially when it comes with a charger. Most portable label printers require 6 AA batteries, and if you print a lot you will chew through them. The handheld design is great, and the cut head feels solid. I am not a fan of the membrane switches around the screen. I'm concerned about their longevity, but time will tell with that. The keyboard section is acceptable, but I think I would be happier with solid keys instead of silicone. Sometimes the keyboard will take a few presses before registering due to the flexibility

Highly Recommended!
The Dymo LabelManager 280 is an outstanding machine. The construction is solid with no flimsy parts that may break with normal use. The screen is large, clear, and easy to read. The buttons around the screen have a nice click to them, and the buttons on the main body are rubber and feel solid. The unit feels good in the hands, and even those with smaller hands should have no trouble typing. The cutter is excellent, the best I've seen on any Dymo. It cuts cleanly and doesn't wast a lot of tape on each end. One or two read-throughs of the manual were all it took to learn the machine. It is well-written and will answer any questions. I found the menus easy to understand and navigate. It is rechargeable and comes with a charging cord. I gave it a full charge when I bought it in August, and here it is December and I've not had to recharge it since. I haven't had a chance to link it to a laptop to use the software, because it does everything I need it to do the way it is. Overall this was an excellent buy and I would recommend it for anyone looking for an inexpensive, well-built label maker that will provide years of use.***I purchased this item myself and I am in no way affiliated with Dymo or Amazon. This is my honest opinion and no one has asked me to write this review.***

Good but overpriced.
The keys are a bit difficult to push. The display is dark and clear with larger letters. So far it has worked smoothly. There were almost no directions and no explanation of what all of the buttons and symbols mean. I will be able to find them on line, but they should be included with the machine. You can recharge this or use it while plugged in and charging. That is a nice benefit. So far I have only used the black on white tape that came with the machine, and the letters are dark and very clear.

Full of features
Someone commented that it wastes about 1/2 inch. That may be true but it's only 1/4 inch on each side of the label so it's not that bad. The only tricky thing really is peeling the label off the back. As you can see there two pieces on the back that need to be peeled off. You have to bend the label just right to get it started. I haven't even begun to try and do it from the computer yet, because it's so easy to just type it up on the maker itself and hit print. I haven't been able to get any larger print than what you see.

The Ultimate Label Printer
I have been mixing up equipment with other people on multiple film sets, that's why I have decided to get a label printer. This is the one an experienced filmmaker suggested I should use, he has been using it for multiple years already and it provides you with more than you need.Despite the great variety of functions, this device offers, the interface is very intuitive. I opened the box, charged the device and started printing no problem. It certainly is a more pricy printer, but the label material it comes with is excellent, the functions can cover even more complex tasks than most people would need and is - as said above - very easy to useProblems with the Device:- The printing key is very close to the key that switches the orientation of the letters between horizontal and vertical, I have often pressed both keys at the same time by accident and received a print in the wrong orientation.- When printing any labels, the printer gives a little bit of extra length of the label on both sides. In my opinion, the standard length is too long and it wastes too much of the label material.

competitive price, exact time delivery smooth transaction.
The 280 replaces an earlier Dymo machine and the tags used for electronic labelling are clearer and neater than the earlier style.
