The unit comes with a high quality HDMI cable and a power supply. Hookup was very simple; pairing and activating was just as simple. Clear and easy to understand instructions were included in hardcopy and are displayed on the TV prior to connect. I was up and running in less than 15 minutes from opening the box. Video renders clearly on the TV (audio comes through fine too). I also tested with various videos, metro and desktop applications. When selecting the mode to mirror both displays, Windows temporarily modifies the resolution of the notebook to match the TV's resolution. Original notebook resolution is restored after disconnecting. This unit does everything I wanted it to do.Update: An added bonus that I didn't realize when I purchased this is that its also compatible with our smart phones. We have an HTC One (running Android 4.4.2)and a Samsung S3 (running Android 4.3). Both can connect and mirror their screens as well. It seems to take a few attempts to connect on the Samsung, but eventually it connects and once connected it does not drop. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars Works quite well - been using it every day *by J***E on Reviewed in the United States on January 2, 2014* We bought two of these, one for our family room, one for our main viewing room, to use with a new laptop with (Intel) Widi capabilities. The devices configured simply via Windows 8.1 and are trivial to connect and disconnect wirelessly. So far we've watched a bunch of different streaming video sources like online TV (for example, today's Rose Bowl parade from a Pasadena TV station (we're in Virginia)!), websites catering to streaming dramas, and more; each source worked flawlessly complete with good sound and, in most cases, full 1080p video (depends on source). The devices themselves are dinky - like 8 cm on a side and about 1.5 cm tall.They essentially do exactly what we want them to do - allow us to stream video/audio to our large-screen TVs at full resolution from a laptop without using a cable. We've also been using them simply to "project" the laptop display while my wife has been practicing math problems online - that way I can look at the LARGE TV screen and answer questions she has without having to try to look over her shoulder at the laptop's display.So what's WRONG with them? Two things noticed so far: (1) there is no off switch so once they're plugged in, they're on. This seems like a poor feature but one I can ignore since the devices are always ready to connect that way. And (2), the devices are susceptible to microwave-frequency radiation (2.4GHz?). When affected by that the video/audio becomes very intermittent and pretty much unviewable. Our ONLY experience with this problem, however, was when we turned on the microwave oven in the kitchen (30-ish feet away and through a couple walls); as soon as the oven turned off, the video/audio became rock solid again. When I did an internet search for this problem I see it is VERY common across numerous devices such as routers etc so this is NOT an ActionTec-specific problem. The wattage of our microwave (1200W at full power) undoubtedly contributed to the appearance of the problem (our oven doesn't "leak", it's just that microwave ovens are a LOT more powerful than wireless routers). Anyway, this problem, too, is not enough to bother us to distraction - now that we know WHY the behavior occurs, we know how to avoid it so it has become an insignificant problem that quite probably is unavoidable with ANY Widi receiver.These receivers have already proven their worth to us. I'm sure as we discover more online content we'll be using them even more. ### ⭐⭐⭐ 3.0 out of 5 stars Works good, but sometimes needs a reset *by S***N on Reviewed in the United States on February 13, 2014* It connects fine with my computer and Windows 8.1. However, sometimes I have to reset the ScreenBeam (I use a pen to push and hold the button inside the reset hole on the back of the device until the screen says it's restoring defaults, then I let go and I wait a few minutes, unplug and replug it in, and wait for it to start up -- these were the instructions offered by tech support) when it is unable to verify the connection to my computer. Then I re-establish the connection from my computer by entering the passcode given. I've had to do this a few times, but each time my connection is restored just fine. It's not a problem for me, since I only connect to my tv now and then, but I wouldn't like it if I was connecting through the ScreenBeam to a monitor every day.
