Once it's in there you can't get it back out, so what's the point?
Although specified for a Honda, I used this kit to install a single-DIN stereo in a 2001 Saab 9-3. The kit required some substantial modification to its height, but the end result is quite nice. It clearly looks aftermarket, but I didn't expect anything else. I'm mostly just happy the kit didn't shatter or turn to dust when I went after it with a utility knife, Dremel, and a sanding block. Why 3 stars? Why is the pocket an idiot oval? Aesthetically, why is a square kit that goes into a square hole prominently featuring an oval? Functionally, why is the pocket neither the full height or width of the available space? I have been staring at it for two months and I can't figure out the design decision behind the oval. It's too short to fit your hand inside, too shallow to put anything long in, and too narrow to put anything wide in. It fits an iPhone 4 pretty well, but it won't fit anything you might have in your car in 2018. Well, that's not true, it will fit a Taco Bell taco, but once it's in there you can't get it back out, so what's the point?

Perfect Fit for my 1999 CR-V
This installation kit worked perfectly for my 1999 CR-V. As long as you follow the directions and cut off the right tabs everything should be fine. The fit is perfect for the dash and doesn't leave any gaps visible once installed. The oval pocket isn't my preference personally, but I would've only used the square pocket to hold my phone anyway. The Oval pocket fits my Galaxy A50 and leaves about 1/4th of it sticking out making it easy to grab. I am 5'10 and can fit my fingers/hand in the pocket just fine, but I wouldn't put anything small in the pocket

It Works
Good price and arrived on time. Used it on a 2001 Honda CRV. It worked and I got the new radio installed; however it was a lot of work. In case it's not clear, you have to remove the entire lower dash panel including the center console. I did get a little scared halfway through the install but it all worked out. Finished product looked fine, The empty slot is smaller than normal.

I would not recommend breaking them off as that will crack the frame ...
I have a 2000 Honda Civic EX and wanted to install it in there. The headunit fits into this kit but the plastic portion in the top frame needs to be removed. I used a tiny hand saw, luckily I had one at the time. Otherwise, I would not recommend breaking them off as that will crack the frame and potentially ruin the kit. As for the fit into the dashboard, it was okay, needed to play around with it for a bit but it works. The bottom pocket is just big enough to fit my phone. I used to have more space but I surprisingly like less space because nothing bounces around in there.

Perfect Solution
Installed this kit with a Pioneer head unit in a 1999 Honda Civic LX Sedan. It fit w/o any problems and looks like it came from the factory to accept the after market stereo.

Very satisfied
Worked great for me had to modify the end result by adding a piece of foam tape under the head unit because of an unfilled air gap. I used air tools to cut the tabs, don't try and brake them, Cut them.

Doesn't Work
Didn't fit even though it says prelude on the bag. Was missing parts. Technician couldn't use it. I returned it.

Fantastic!!! I tried 4 other installation kits, and they didn't work. This one did, and was easy to install.
