amazing deal
For the price this thing is awesome. Seriously the LEDs are worthless, and night video looks like night video on your cell phone... just try it without lights. However in the day, this looks great.. tons of settings as well. I have tried the auto record when movement dedected the 2 min takes and 15 minute takes. I have 32 gb sd card and it handles many hd videos. When it gets full it just records over old useless recordings. The auto record whrn car starts and stops when stopped works only if you cig lighter/acc plug turns on/off with the car...For under 18 bucks its unbeatable... had alittle trouble with the mount.. trick is to really clean the window, mount the mount minus the camera, then attach the camera. It does work if you do it right.

You get what you pay for
To be honest, after looking at the various reviews I was figuring I was throwing my money away. So first let's get the bad out of the way.The directions are an interesting translation into English. While most of the functions are understandable, there is some gaps in it that just require you to play with the machine - such as I put it into motion detect mode and when I got onto the highway it shut down not seeing any "movement".My particular unit complains the battery is not charged all the time and I have to keep it plugged in.The IR emitters do not automatically come on in low light situations. You must turn them on in a menu setting which I have a difficult time finding at times. The speaker used for playback - yes playback - is awful at best. It sounds like the unit wants to break apart. Use the playback function on the computer instead.(Don't expect the microphone to capture conversations in the vehicle - it isn't that good)The supplied power adapter was dysfunctional from the start. I had to use another one of my own - not a big issue, but a pain. And while there are other little issues, I have found that I like the unit enough to buy a few more- one for each of my other vehicles and possibly as a rear view recording camera. Here are the reasons why:Once it is set up, operating it is nothing. Turn on the car and it starts to record on power-up.I traveled over 5 hours on 640x480 and captured the whole trip on a 8GB SD card - with room to spare. I have not tried the 5M setting. someday......The motion detect does work, but you need to get out of it if you are going to travel around and capture. The screen is a nice size. Small enough to still see and not be distracting. It works with the screen up or down.Easily removed from the wind screen.Time and date stamp.Cost.Seriously. I want another in my vehicle just so those other drivers see that they are being watched. Those who see the screen tend to behave better - knowing they are being recorded. I use to use a FLIP camera to do the same - the audio was much better and the video clearer, but the need to always reach over and turn it on make me stop using it - because I would forget to urn it on. This unit starts up and records. Good enough for me.

Great customer service
I ordered this unit and it works fine. Picture quality is ok and sound if fine. For the price it's definitely worth it. My unit stopped working after about 10 days sounded like it would turn on but no picture at all. The company sent me a new unit and I could not be happier. I just received it so I will be putting it back in the car. Thank you!

Would be a good product... if it worked
Okay, so I have been using this camera for 3 weeks. In the beginning, everything worked fine. You set up the resolution (please, note that this is not an HD camera! It only has a software upscaling fature -- this is useless, as clips only take up more space and quality is not very good). In contrast with some other users, night mode turns on automatically and works fine on my unit. Now, let me tell you more about quality of this product. It's s***. After the first week, camera mount started getting lose and I would have to tighten it up every morning before I drove to work, as camera would be pointing in a direction where you could not see what is happening in front of your car. Very annoying, but I thought to hell with it, 30 seconds a day are not going to kill me. Then one of the plastic parts you use to turn the actual screws broke off, making it harder to tighten the mount up. Very annoying.A few days ago, right about the time it started getting warm out (70-80 degrees) I was trying to adjust the mount to be able to see things happening in front of me (as now I do every morning), when I noticed that the picture looks blurry on the camera's screen. I tried to clean the lens, but it didn't help. So I took the SD card inside and plugged it into my laptop. Going back a few days, all the videos were okay, while the most recent ones were very blurry and there was no way you could read someone's license plate off those videos. Seems like the lens got somehow out of focus?Yesterday, I decided to ask for a replacement -- company replied next day with a RMA number and shipping address. BUT. ***They do not pay for the return shipping.*** On top of that, they want me to send it with a service that will provide them with a tracking number:This a part of their email:"You can choose USPS service, which is relatively cheaper shipping way.Once you ship it out, please send us the delivery confirmation number so that we can locate the return online. Then we can arrange to ship a new replacement for you as earlier as possible. For any doubt, please feel free to contact us.We will take every action possible to keep you happy and satisfied."Okay, now this pisses me off. This company (ATC E-Commerce Ltd) sells a cheap Chinese product of rather questionable quality. Just read through amazon reviews - they must be aware of this fact. The reason I bought this camera was that it cost less than 30 dollars. I wanted something cheap. Now I'm going to pay for return shipping of this DEFECTIVE unit, but what if the next one I get does not properly function either? That's 8 dollars a pop to ship it back, almost a third of the price of the camera!!MY ADVICE? Spent a few extra bucks and buy something that will actually work, preferably from a manufacturer that practices at least some kind of quality control. Oh, and avoid ATC E-Commerce Ltd.NOTE: If I am satisfied with the replacement unit for longer than a week and new unit arrives quickly, I will update the rating.
