Despite a few bad reviews, this scale is PERFECT.
I bought this so I could expand sales on eBay, and so I didnt have to make a special trip to the post office with an item i was unsure about the weight on. I have used it a few times since it arrived, and so far, I am very happy with this scale. It is very easy to use, and it come per-calibrated, so it was just plug it in and you are good to go. I had an item that i brought to work once and weighed ( a small urban vinyl toy) and its weight was 5.7 ounces. Knowing this when I got this scale I found another one of the items (same series and size, just different character, so weights should be the same or similar) and my scale measured the similar item as 5.8 ounces. So I will say it is fairly accurate on its weights, since all figures from that series of items should be about the same weight. I have weighed several other items, and have found it to read the same on multiple weighs, meanings it doesn't fluctuate when reweighing the same item, if it tells you its 5.2, it will tell you 5.2 every time. So it is consistent as well, I know some cheaper scales can be inconsistent with the same item. I have only had a few chances so far to play around with the scale and use it, but from what I can tell, it works perfectly. It also has a flip up tray on top so you can easily weight items such as letters and flat shipping envelopes. If you are in the market for a good quality scale, at a wonderful price, this is definitely the scale for you. You will see some reviews of buys saying it did not come calibrated, and it required an item of exactly 22.5 lbs to calibrate, and things of that nature, that has not been my experience, but if you happen to come across a situation like that, then by all means, take a breather and contact Amazon and let them know that you got a machine that was not properly calibrated at its factory and you would like it to be exchanged, I am sure that fine CS people at Amazon will be able to help you with that. So once again, if you need a great scale on the cheap, this is the scale for you!

My Life Just Got a Whole Lot Easier! Works Great. Paid for Itself in 2 Weeks
If you've been thinking lately that maybe you should get a Postal Scale, but have been "on the fence" about it OR you just need a new scale that is accurate, easy to use, dependable and a nice size (8" wide x 8" long x 2 1/8" H), please keep reading. I have recently started selling things on e-Bay and while I am happy every time I make a sale, it's gotten to be a real tiresome and time consuming task to package and mail things. First I have to pack my box, then take it to the US Post Office to have them weigh it, come home and print the label from e-Bay/PayPal with the correct weight on it, and then take it back to the Post Office again. That's two trips to the post office for every day I sell/mail something. I've longingly eyed the postal scales at the Post Office(as I stand in the long waiting line) for $39.99, but felt they were too expensive. Maybe the Post Office scale is perfectly accurate down to 1 oz(this one is 2 oz at low weights--displays 1 decimal point for ounces and rounds up), but I don't need that level of exactness. I always need to add an ounce or two on anyway for tape, a little extra packing peanuts or bubble wrap and maybe even a freebie that I may add at the last minute. This scale is perfect for everyday use. It's pretty small which I like and doesn't weigh a lot, yet it feels and looks well made and durable enough. Didn't need to calibrate mine. It was exact right out of the box.(Checked 5 items against the scale at the Post Office when they weren't busy). I mailed about 20 small to medium boxes in the first 3 weeks and they were all spot on. I've used it to mail over-sized letters, packages 15 lbs and under and also when I needed 10 oz. of broccoli for a new recipe we were trying out. So far this is a great home scale at a reasonable price. It's not complicated, very easy & intuitive to use. And it's saved me an extra trip to the Post Office every day which is 30-45 minutes to spend doing something else, plus gas savings. With 2 kids away at college I'm always packing up something to send them. This has made it that much simpler and the kids are actually getting more "goodies" from home because I have extra time now. I bought mine through EZ SELL for $17.59 and just wish I would have bought one sooner and made my life a little easier. What you need to know: It has an On/Off button. The LCD readout is bright and the numbers are large and easy to read. It has a "Hold" button so you can still see the weight of the package after you've removed it from the scale. (especially useful if package is large and covers over the weight display) It has a "Tare" button so you can weight an empty container and then have the scale display only the additional weight of the contents.(if you need this) The "Mode" button allows you to switch between pound:ounce, decimal pound, kilogram:gram, decimal kilogram. All the buttons are clearly labeled. Has an auto time off of 2 minutes in case you forget to turn it off. Flip back top allows you to weigh items that need to lean on something. It runs on either 2 AA batteries included(if you want to move it around easily) or an INCLUDED AC adapter. Handles weights between 0.2 oz and 55 lbs. 10 year limited manufacturer warranty

Versatile and dependable.
I have had this scale since 2017 and thought it was time to give a review. It has worked flawlessly for me. I purchased it because I do a lot of sales on eBay. I now also use it as a kitchen scale for food.

SUPER QUALITY POSTAL SCALE
American Weigh Scale Model PS-25 UPC: 814859013384 Bought from EZSELL $17.49 Price, Display size, 2xAA Battery Power and 55lb Capacity are the main reasons I chose this model. I bought this because it appeared to have a larger display than other scales do and the fact that it uses only two AA batteries. I forgot about buying batteries at the 99c store as name brand alkaline 9V batteries are usually quite expensive and I am not about to plug SIX AA batteries into a scale which sees little use. I'll just throw in a couple of rechargeables when the included AA's expire. The display is large and bright. Numerals are about 3/4 inch high. Took to USPS APC and at 10 lbs weight, my scale was reading 0.2 ounces less than the high quality USPS APC scale. Was right on at 4 ounces, so there is little difference between the two scales, certainly not enough to worry about. AC adapter does not appear to be UL listed, so maybe keep this in mind and maybe unplug it before any extended period, it's your call on that one. I'm super glad that I bought this scale. I DO SEE THIS MODEL LISTED ON THE MEGA AUCTION SITE, as well as some cheap, thin scales, but in reality the thin scale models display appear tiny. This backlit display and everything about this scale rocks! Like everyone else, I'm running around weighing everything in the house! By the way, the resolution is 0.01 lb, and with 16 ounces per lb, that gives us a resolution of 0.16 ounces, so while I would like the advertised 0.1 ounce readability, the actual display changes every 0.2 ounces. Not bad at all for a 55 lb scale. I don't expect USPS or UPS to come knocking down your door for an error of 0.1 ounce (half of the 0.2 ounce display resolution). Can CAL (calibrate) the scale with a 10 kg calibration weight, as there is an option in the menu to do that. I was thinking of making a calibration weight by weighing 22 lbs of something on a very accurate scale and then keeping that available to CAL my scale with. It is all I can do to not go through with it as I like to see what is in the menu options. I am resisting the temptation to CALibrate my scale because it came so well CALibrated already! Why muck with something that already works! Scale just did an auto power down after 120 seconds. Maybe that is adjustable in the menu but I have not explored that. In any case, plenty of time to weigh and move on with your tasks. As long as you continue to add or subtract weight within this time frame, it appears that the auto shutoff is disabled. HOLD button does not appear to affect the operation of the auto power down. Readout modes: 0lb 0.0oz 0.00lb 0.000Kg 0Kg 000g 2 gram readability 0.2 ounce readability Can CAL with 10Kg CALibration weight Backlit display Large (3/4 inch) display HOLD button 55 lb capacity Uses 2xAA batteries (included) Comes with AC adapter Low battery alert 10 year warranty ! Buy it if you can find it at a good price. I see it is no longer 17.49, but now 25. If you can't find it at the right price here maybe look around some more! The other two I were considering are a bit more expensive, but have a calibration feature and appear to be of high quality as well. These are TREE Brand 35 Lb Scale (uses 6xAA batteries) and TREE Brand 75 Lb Scale (uses 6xAA batteries) I stayed away from this WeighMax Scale because I thought the display looked kinda small, and all the buttons are on the sides! Mark to Market.

Great Postal Scale that weighs in pounds and ounces to ...
Great Postal Scale that weighs in pounds and ounces to tenths of an ounce (0Lb 0.0oz), also weighs in pounds to hundredths (0.00lbs), kilos to the thousandths (0.000Kg), and kilos and whole grams (0Kg 0g). I use the pounds and ounces setting to print accurate shipping labels for packages that weigh on average from 3.0 oz. to 13.0 oz. and above. The lightest items start registering at about 0.3 oz. and 55 lbs. is stated capacity, although I have never weighed anything that heavy on it. It has a tare feature to zero out the scale. The scale and LCD do not turn off automatically and the On/Off switch must be used to power it up or down. The 6V ~ 1A, AC power adapter has a cord length of 46 inches. Highly recommend that a surge protector be used with this device. This is my second one as the LCD screen on the first one shorted out while cycling home circuit breakers during an electrical project. I am pretty sure a power surge during a power outage could have the same result. The first one was plugged directly to the wall outlet. I am being more careful with the second one and plugging it directly to a surge protector. Four stars for no built in surge protection. Learned the hard way, use a surge protector with this device. No other issues. A great postal scale for an incredible price.

Awesome Postal Scale
I have been searching for an official Postal Scale for quite some time. I've been using my kitchen scale, which has a weight limit of 11 pounds, but sometimes its features just fell short. Aside from not being able to accommodate heavier items, it could also not handle large items/packages. So I settled on this scale from American Weigh. Even though I bought it from a third party seller, it came supremely packaged---secured by form-fitting styrofoam and wrapped in plastic, along with a booklet of instructions. Needless to say, it had NOT been previously opened or messed with. The only thing I had to do to get it up and running was place the top plastic tray onto the base and install the batteries (which were included). I like the fact that the scale uses batteries (AA, which are quite convenient), or, if you're going to be using it for long periods at a time, you can choose to use the included wall adapter. The first thing that made me smile after pressing the power button (it powers up and is ready for use in less than five seconds) was the backlit screen. It is quite bright, with a dark black readout, which just makes using the scale that much easier. You can cycle through 4 different MODEs, which should be quite sufficient for almost everyone needing a postal scale. While it can measure out in .1 ounces (one-tenth of an ounce), the most accurate it measures in grams is by .2 (one-fifth of a gram)---I suppose you'll need a Kitchen Scale if you want to get more precise regarding grams. Of course this scale has a TARE feature. I've yet to notice any legitimate scales that lack that feature. One feature that I really like, and have found useful, is the HOLD feature. If you have a particularly large item/package sitting on the scale, and your view of the screen is obstructed, you just press the HOLD button on the side of the scale, remove your item/package, and the measured value remains on the screen for a handful of seconds (long enough for you to get a chance to read it). I am very pleased with my purchase of this scale. I would definitely recommend it anyone who is looking for a good-quality, accurate postal scale with many useful features. And the absolute best part is I didn't have to shell out any more than seventeen bucks!

My Defective Unit Story
EDIT: Previously a 1-star review. Batteries started to leak within a minute of installing them. It powered on fine the first two times, but I happened to unplug it when not in use. When I left it plugged in for two days while powered off, there appeared to be some black ink on the inside of the screen coming from the direction of the power input, and it won't power on anymore. The screen looks fine after being unplugged for a few minutes, but it won't power on anymore. Have yet to deal with AWS warranty dept. Will see how that goes. UPDATE: AWS warranty wanted me to ship back the defective unit. Too much work for me. The seller I purchased it from (EZ SELL) saw this review and contacted me by e-mail. He had them ship me a new unit which arrived in 3 days. Except it was a Peartree RB-125 which is a bathroom scale. The packing slip said PS-25 so I have no idea what happened. I contacted EZ SELL again, and he had them ship me ANOTHER one, and three days later the right scale showed up. This one doesn't make batteries explode, and leaving it plugged in while powered off doesn't fry the electronics. So after about a week of being without a working scale, I have a working one and a free bathroom scale (though I'm not sure how). I had it calibrated, and it's accurate to within a gram. Thankfully I don't need this scale often, so I'm more than happy.

Accurate, useful tool
If you deal with shipping items on a regular basis, you're all too familiar with the disgusting lines at the post office. But hang on, there are mail drop-off boxes everywhere, and even if you live closer to a postal center, you can save time by arriving with prepaid labels, toss your packages into the large mail slots and jump back out, while the long line of grouchy, unprepared people stare at that one ebayer with his box full of little packages he needs to buy postage for. As many shippers offer online purchase discounts, it becomes necessary to be able to provide the weight for an accurate cost. I picked up this unit for what seems to have been a bargain price. This unit can hold a LOT of weight, compared to many smaller scales I have seen. The size is decent- it's not too large, but it doesn't look fragile either. While it looks simple, there's nothing particularly bad about having an easy interface to interact with. Mostly I just turn it on, weigh something, and turn it back off. No problems with that. For odd-shaped items or larger things, the platform folds upwards, making an easel in which to prop the item up so you can get a reading. You can also press a hole button, which grabs onto the weight and freezes it on the screen. There's a slot for a 9v battery (not included), but if you have a wall plate available, the manufacturers included a power cable. For other models of this particular brand/style of scale, people complained about the display. I have no qualms- the display is backlit, which is great for the evenings or darker days. Of course, the viewing angle is terrible, as is the fashion with those old digital screens, but I'm always directly facing the panel so there's no problem there. For the price and the time it saves me from going to the post office, this scale is definitely one of my 'justified' purchases that I'm glad I invested in.
