Our dog loves it, that is what matters
This is the 6th bed we have purchased in the nearly six months since we got our dog, a American Staffordshire Terrier mix that LOVES to destroy things. I had seen this style of bed before but was hesitant to get it since the dog spends most of the day in her crate. We leave a bed in there for her since it seems to prevent her from peeing in her crate and calms her down. All her beds to this point have been soft, pillow type. We figured since they were made of ripstop type material that they would be able to last with her. We were wrong! We take the dog to doggy daycare and they use Kuranda beds, although they have some of the older models where there are cutouts at the corners of the fabric. We finally decided to try one since she had torn through three beds in a matter of days (some stressful things happening, so it was understandable). It was more cost effective to get this than spending $20+ per bed. The year warranty also helps. The Setup: It is pretty straightforward with setting up, but there are some things I would like to see, mainly some protection around the metal parts and they should include a small screwdriver and wrench. Getting everything lined up was a bit of a hassle, especially working on my own. I recommend having an extra set of hands when putting it together. The Fit: The crate our dog uses in 42"x28" with a plastic tray bottom. We got the large bed, 40"x25" and it fits perfectly in the crate. We did remove the legs to drop the bed about 4" since it was affecting the dog being able to sit up properly in the crate. The bed is able to pull through the door, if necessary, which makes cleaning it easier. Our dog loves the bed and has not tried to chew on it (yet). I would definitely recommend spending the money for this bed if you have a dog that destroys other beds. It is worth the money that you will save and it is surprisingly comfortable for the dog. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- UPDATE: This bed has last longer than any other bed by far and she loves it. She had not once tried to tear into it at all. The only downside is the shed hair sticks to it and is not easily removed, even by a vacuum. I know Kuranda has replacement mesh which I might get just to have the spare. While it is expensive it also saves money on what you would spend on multiple beds as your dog tears through them.

Customized a wire crate with a Kuranda bed and our dog couldn't be happier.
Have two Almond-colored beds, which have lasted 10-12+ years with indoor/outdoor use. They are still going strong, even with some hairline cracks in the corners. (Hey, after 10-12 years, we all get a few hairline cracks. lol) So when shopping for more dog beds, knew these are worth the extra money. Much cheaper than buying junky beds every year or two. Shelters, rescues, and dog care centers like these beds. You know they aren't going to waste their money on something that will fall apart quickly. For people that just want the facts: * Great beds. * Dog love 'em. * Easy to clean. * Chew proof. * Walnut color is a nice upgrade to the standard Almond PVC. Who knew PVC could look this classy? * They also make a short-legged version for crates. Great idea! For people wanting more details about the bed: * The Walnut PVC has more of a furniture look and looks nice in the house. Walnut has a subtle, gold shimmery undertone. We picked the Khaki (Gold) Cordura fabric and it's a great match. * Our original Almond beds have the Vinyl weave, which is an open, rougher weave. (Still nice and comfy.) Cordura is a much tighter, smoother fabric. (Think of nice luggage.) * Read other reviews for assembly tips, but a bed will take about a half-hour to assemble. We bought two and the larger one was harder to assemble. It's that last corner that gets you. The rest of the assembly is very easy. Popping in the legs is super easy. For people interested about combining a Kuranda with a wire crate: * Bought the Small Kuranda Bed (20" X 30") and combined it with a wire crate for a great "bedroom" set. * Paired it with a Midwest Life Stages Folding Metal Dog Crate, Double Door, 30" X 21" X 24", Model #1630DD, also available on Amazon. A Small Kuranda bed fit inside JUST perfectly. About 1/4" to 1/2" wiggle room from bed to crate sides. * This Midwest crate is a bit taller than others, allowing for bed height while keeping a reasonable amount of headroom. About the usual amount of crate headroom now. * To insert the bed, you'll want to sneak the back panel past the wire clips to fold OUT. (Normally the panel folds IN for packing.) You may need someone with strong hands, or a get a washcloth and some pliers to gently ease the panel out. (Washcloth is to protect the wire.) Then pop the bed into the crate and reverse the process. It's not that difficult, but in hindsight, the three-door crate with a top door might have been nice. Especially if you want to travel with this setup. * Bed legs will rest on top of the crate pan edges, but the pan seems pretty sturdy and the weight is distributed. Don't expect any issues. * The crate pan still slides out for cleaning, even with the Kuranda bed inside. * Kuranda doesn't have their Crate Bed version listed on Amazon (yet anyway), however, contact Kuranda before placing your order and they will make arrangements to get you the shorter legs. We were able to buy through Amazon and use our Amazon Prime shipping. The Kuranda folks are great to deal with. * With the Crate Bed version you get both the shorter legs and the taller legs. This gives you the option to change out leg height later, if you want. Our 25 lb. dog is loving this new setup, especially with the warmer weather. Now he gets air circulation under and around him, keeping him cool and comfy. The bed is just the right length for him to fully stretch out. He's noticeably happier with his new bedroom. Also added these items to his new nest: * Midwest Quiet Time Deluxe Micro Terry Bed, Taupe (40630-TP, Medium) * Midwest Quiet Time Crate Cover, 30" X 19" X 21" (CVR-30). Through will hold off on the cover till it gets cooler.

Thank goodness for this dog bed.
Review Update My previous review is below. They are the first bed our two dogs could not chew up quickly. After a year they are still in good shape and my husband and I are very impressed with the quality. So... when we got our 3rd dog we needed another dog bed. The order was received quickly. When we were putting the bed together it turned out that we were missing all 4 corner elbows to put the legs on the frame. I thought that this was going to be a real hassle, as are a lot of customer services are these days. I first called Amazon and told them that I didn't want to return the item, I just wanted to get the missing parts. Amazon gave me the phone number to Kuranda. I called expecting to go through that automated phone service black hole, but was pleasantly surprised that a very helpful real live person answered the phone. From then on it was nothing short of a wonderful experience. Just by giving her my name and zip code they were able to pull up all my shipping information and which item I had ordered. I explained what we were missing, she knew immediately what it was and said it would be mailed out to me. We received the missing parts within about 3-4 days. I was so pleased with my experience with them that I called Kuranda back and left a message with the account manager letting him know how wonderful his people were to work with. I highly recommend this product and company. Way to go Kuranda, keep up the good work. Old Review. We were buying dog beds after dog beds. Our big 1 year old, 85 lbs dog was chewing up one dog bed after another. We live in a very cold climate and was trying to get something for our dogs that would get them warmth off the garage floor. Our smaller dog (45lbs) would leave the dog beds alone, but the new big boy would get bored and end up chewing up his bed and the other. We got 2 of these beds a couple of months ago and they are perfect. Gets the dogs up off the floor and our big fellow can't get a hold of anything on this bed to rip apart. We are happy and the dogs are happy. Great purchase.

Most Excellent Dig Bed
Very sturdy construction. I was warned that it can be very difficult to assemble, but I had no issues. It only took me like 30 minutes. Since I've only had it for a couple days, I haven't had to clean it yet, but you can even take it outside and use a hose and most any kind of detergent, probably even a scrub brush. Clever design ensures no loose fabric that the dog can get hold of and chew on.

Pricey bed, but dog loves it
Our trainer requires that you get a raised bed 4" off the ground to train for a "place" that you can tell them to go to and the rules of the training are to keep all four paws off the ground. They recommended this company and then it was just a matter of deciding how big our stray Border Collie GSD mix needed. I went with XL since it was near the dimensions of his crate. He voluntarily puts himself on this bed because it is comfortable. We can tell him to go to bed and he knows now, after a lot of training, that he is required to stay on the bed until released. The only downside to this bed was in assembly. First of all, we were missing a bolt, which is a problem since it holds the legs on and the vinyl fabric taut. Thankfully, my husband's stash of parts had just the right size. Secondly, when trying to assemble the last corner, the holes and sides were not lining up and the fabric was wonky. It took my husband shoving the screwdriver in the hole and pushing the screw into the right spot and me putting the bolt on as quickly as possible. This did cause the hole on the underside to enlarge so I'm not sure how long this will last until we find it creates problems. It's been a week and a half and it is holding together okay so far. I think this issue is a problem with the manufacturing not being exact enough. Hopefully this is the only time this has been a problem as we might need to buy another bed given how much this one is getting used. Thank you for reading this review and I do hope you found it helpful!

Well built, long lasting product
These beds are simply wonderful. They're basically indistructable, easy to clean/disinfect, and the dogs love them. These are the only beds we use at the shelter where I work, so when my pittie needed a new bed, this was a natural choice. She can shred the most heavy duty dog beds out there in a matter of minutes, but has not been able to do any damage to this bed. I've only had her bed for a few weeks, but I can speak to the longevity of the beds from using them at the shelter. By hose beds take serious abuse- dogs with separation anxiety try to destroy them, 100 pound dogs take running jumps onto them and slam them into walls, and the beds get sprayed down with disinfectants and bleach daily. The shelter uses the heavy duty vinyl beds and despite all they go through, they're still fine years later. Occasionally a corner will get cracked or too heavily chewed and then it's a simple, inexpensive fix to replace the part. The bed I own is cordura, as my dog has sensitive skin and needs a more breathable base. So far it's been just as easy to clean as the vinyl ones. The beds are also not difficult to put together. I may be biased since I've assembled a ton of them, but the instructions are clear and it's only a few simple pieces to put together. Overall, these beds are a larger investment upfront, but work out to be less expensive in the long run because of the quality and longevity.

Perfect bed
Easy to assemble. Holds dog well and he loves it. I use it inside and outside - next to my chair swing!

Still standing! Have not chewed yet!
I have two Australian Shepherds that destroy EVERYTHING. They even chew each other’s collars off and the only toy that stands up to their wrath is kongs. I have previously tried big “chew proof” strong nylon beds (destroyed, green fluff everywhere) and another cot bed (chewed right through the middle because the edges did not tuck into the sides like this one). I LOVE THIS BED!! I can finally give my destructive dogs a cot to sleep on off the floor. Have had for a few months now and still not a scratch or chew mark! I’m so happy I can finally give them something nice to make them more comfortable! I bought a Large bed for starters to test the “chew proof-ness”, and both of my 40-45# Australian Shepherds lay on it together with just enough room, but not too crowded. I have this bed out in our “dog house” that is basically the porch attached to the house that leads outside so they can go in and out. We live in Minnesota and have had an especially cold winter this year. The porch we have is not heated but is insulated and keeps the dogs out of the elements, the cot is in there so I would say it’s withstood cold weather conditions. I actually got the plastic over the metal because the metal would get super cold obviously. Was very easy to put together and is very sturdy PVC and the great design where there is no edge of the fabrics top so there is no corner for the dog to start chewing at. I am buying more for inside too! Definitely recommend for unmerciful chewers!

5 years old and still going strong
We bought this for our puppy's crate as she was destroying blankets and beds in there. We felt bad just having her on the floor of the crate, so splurged on the Kuranda bed. Best purchase. She did try chewing the top of the post but couldn't do much damage. it lasted through her chewing phase and she used it in her crate all the time (once all house trained we just left the door to her crate open all the time). It was vomited on multiple time (allergies) and was easy to clean and dried pretty quickly. It has been relegated to the basement area where it still see regular naps from the cat. It is nice and easy to vacuum the hair off and was one of our best dog related purchases. I will note that one of the screws went in odd and I couldn't remove it to straighten it, so its' always been a bit off on that one, didn't affect use. Can't recommend this bed enough.

Great value, sturdy solid beds
Ordered 3 of the XXl for my Saint Bernards and Newfoundland dog. Very easy to assemble , sturdy and so far they have not wrecked them! Past purchased of some beds were ruined in a few days . Would recommend for the giant breeds.

Un bel investissement pour la santé de ses amours poilus
Merveilleux, à beaucoup aidé mon chien avec sa blessure au ligament croisé! Elle l'aime tellement qu'elle empêche les chats de la maison de s'y coucher!
