Love This Book
Book arrived quickly. It was a little banged up from shipping. I've had several packages damaged in shipping recently.I recommend this boom for anyone who is either struggling with addiction or has a loved one struggling. I bought this for my husband. Helped him understand more about himself and his addiction. Also opened his eyes to the fact he is not alone. I am amazed at the change in him. This boom was part of that process and will continue to be.

A Tour de Force on Addictions
This is the best book this I have ever read on the topic of addictions. Not only is it a comprehensive analysis and explanation of the causes and consequences of addiction in general and what to do about it, but it contains interesting and insightful stories about the addictions of others as well as of the author himself. A tour de force!

brilliant book on addiction
I have read a lot of books on addiction but this is in the top 5% of them, it was written with a deep compassion and insight. His explanation into what underlies addiction is deeply moving but also very helpful to understand ourselves and our behavior. The book is about hope.

Wow. A must read...
Although technically a book about addiction, it ends up revealing a lot more than just the details and mechanisms surrounding substance abuse. For example, you can more or less be addicted to being stressed - it's all about the chemicals swirling around in your brain! Even if you are not addicted to drugs or alcohol, or you don't know anyone who is, you should still read this book. It might help a little to read Maté's "When the Body Says No" first, but it's not required. The text is an easy read, and no MD or PhD is required to grasp the important info in this book. Two thumbs and toes, way up!

Honest and an eye opener!
Amazing insights and compassionate handling of what is an incredibly complex subject. Sad, at times tragic anecdotes, yet there is hope for those with addictions who are willing to give recovery a go.

Compassionate Eye opener
This book is a wonderful eye-opener on the life of drug addicts and what contributes to their path. I also enjoyed the biological information on how a Dopamine deficiency is created. A must for every therapist and anyone interested in society and health of society.

Valuable insights into the process of addiction
Gabor Maté presents a groundbraking work on the topic of addiction and uncovers the harmful flaws in the reasoning that informs the drug policies of many authorities.

Le consiglio
Un libro illuminante. Lo consiglio a chiunque sia interessato ad approfondire il tema della dipendenza, che, al di là della droga, è presente nella nostra società in molto altre forme
