Omega Vertex Cone Protein Skimmer 130

First off let me say I did not get this item via Amazon, but another online vendor. So, now that is out of the way let me start my review of the Vertex Omega 130:I started another tank due to the fact I outgrew my other. This time I wanted to use all that I learned from starting in the hoby and throw it at my new build. One of the things I learned is that most of the time you get what you paid for...A skimmer is a big part of a saltwater tank and I did not want to skimp. I read reviews of the 130 and most of them was highlighting its build quality, design and exceptional performance. Most big name vendors in this hobby pushed the Vertex Omega line and strongly recommended it.So, I pulld the trigger. It came well packaged and the box was pretty cool for being a box. The first thing I noticed was this thing is fairly large for the tank rating size, but nothing crazy.Put it together via the instructions. Threw it in my sump and started the break-in period per the instructions. First thing I noticed performance wise is this thing loves to overfow, overflow and overflow. Once it settled down I started the tuning process as with any new skimmer, but for no reason at all it will erupt again...I researched online and oveflowing was the #1 issue with this thing... Most fixes were adding a stand for the skimmer so it would sit at different water level in your sump. (I have built 3 stands so far).Ive owned this skimmer for a few months now and it is for sure my most hated piece of equipment thats for sure. It overflows, goes flat/loses head w/ no ryhm or reason. Once you think you have it fine tuned/dialed it... think again! lol!I dont know what it is, but it is just getting to the point where its not worth the hastle anymore. I just keep holding on to hope seeing how much I paid for it and how great it looks. I just wish the performance matched.From other reviews on this skimmer its either you love it or hate it... I want to love it, but unfortunately I hate it. My old, much cheaper and smaller skimmer runs circles around this thing.
