Roman Empress Costume

Yes, the white is a little see through - I don't really care that much and don't own a slip. Just wore a pale bra with good coverage and pale colored Spanx panties (granny style). I don't think anyone really noticed. My dress came with some tissue paper layered in so I didn't have any problems with the burgundy getting on the white part. I'm about 5'6" and weigh about 148lb and I have a larger bust, but small back. Got this dress in a M and it fit me perfectly. For the price, I was not expecting amazing quality, but it was decent enough quality to stand up to a Halloween party with kids running around. The arm bands are pretty shoddy quality - and they kept slipping down along with losing threads. Not sure if I'll be able to wear the armbands again, ever. I was able to get the medallions secured on the straps without incident. Overall, I'm very pleased with this costume and I received many compliments!

I’m a size 10 and I’m glad I ordered the large! And I’d even like it a tad bit bigger so I didn’t have the pulling on my tummy and back (my boobs are not small but look great in the front, caused some pulling on the back) Overall I’m pretty pleased with this costume. As an elementary teacher I wanted something when my team decided to do a special activity for our students at the end of our Ancient Cultures unit. I didn’t want it sexy and I needed it to be somewhat authentic. I find this to be overall flattering, a nice length (I’m 5’6”), and decently made and priced. The white fabric is a little bit see-through but easily mitigated. The v-neck, while not at all authentic, they used a lot of fabric and wore tunics and often long sleeves, wasn’t risqué and looked nice.Oh - it was nice to have some accessories- the medallion pins for the shoulders are good, the armbands are too small (might fit my students), they fit up to my elbows. There’s also a Greek key belt if needed that I didn’t try.

This costume exceeded my expectations! The fabric drapes nicely and feels comfortable, not scratchy like some costumes. The gold detailing really makes it pop, and it looks regal without being over the top. Sizing was accurate, and it paired perfectly with a gold leaf crown. I wore it to a toga-themed party and got compliments all night. I ordered the costume new and it came with yellow arm pit stains. The dress fits well and I need it for an event later this week, so I am going to wash it and keep it. Hopefully it will wash out or no one will notice if I keep my arms down! It was disappointing, however, because it was purchased as new and I don’t have time to replace it…

I was impressed with this costume; for the $25 I paid for it, I feel like I got a really good deal. The material is heavier than traditional "packaged" costumes and when I tried it on it fit great. A little snug, but mostly true to size. The arm bands have elastic in the back, so they don't actually encircle your arm 100%. In the picture it is hard to tell. The white is definitely see-through; I have a tattoo on the front of my hip that is clearly visible through the dress despite the quality of the material. But the back is dark, and the contrast of red and white fabric along the side seam also gives a very slimming illusion to the fit of the dress. Intriguing and perhaps a little dirty- just the way a Halloween costume ought to be.... ;)

The quality of this costume was great - for being a $20.00 costume - so in regards to the costume itself there were not really any complaints. EXCEPT - I ordered the small - I'm 5' tall and about 125Lbs - with an athletic build. I got this two days before Halloween. I put it on over my clothes at work and it fit (sort of) - it was kinda big over jeans and a shirt, but the top part was HUGE. I'm nowhere close to being top heavy at all, but geez. I figured I didn't have time to send it back, or get a different one, so I decided I would just sew the chest area. The package of my costume was marked small, so I though - how could this be so large. When I tried it on at home it was also pretty big (without jeans). As I was sewing away on Halloween morning, I noticed - the tag on the actual costume said it was a Large. Well that sure as heck explained why the chest was so large. I was beginning to think - who has knockers this large and are so short... As I said - the quality of the costume was great. If it was the right size, this would be a 5 star review. Unfortunately - someone decided to put a Large in a Small packaging.

I'm 5'9", 155 lbs. I usually wear a size 10 - 12 pants, 34D chest. Based on the reviews I couldn't figure out what size I'd need, so I got both a Large and X-Large. I ended up liking the X-Large better. The chest was a tiny bit loose on both sizes, but not that bad. I didn't need to do anything except pin it together at the "V". The bottom half was a bit tight on my booty with the Large and perfect with the X-large. The length hit right above my feet with the x-large, and above my ankles with the large. The armbands were too tight with the large, but perfect with the X-large. Hope that helps! It was super cute. Just added added a leafy headband and earrings and I got several compliments on the costume.
